SKYRIM – I managed to get Skyrim operating in my DK-2

I made sure to delete the 9x.ill file from my SkyRim folder. ( these are the mod files that conflict with VorpX ) I’m not 100% sure the exact name of the file but there’s loads of threads in this forum that explain that you need to remove any mod files..

I made sure that Dk2 is my primary monitor. & I dragged the task bar over onto my laptop monitor so I can still click icons in the task bar.

In VorPX’s confiuration I set Display/Monitors – to Use “System Settings”
    (not show only Rift )

I set the Oculus Profile to the profile I created in the Oculus Configuration Utility.

I make sure to when launching SkyRim to set the Display settings correctly.

IN-GAme – to get the screen to show all UI elements I simply middle mouse wheel roll & the game screen edges zoom in & out till I can see all.

I can do up to 1920×1200 on main monitor. So yeah 1920×1080 is available in Skyrim. I’ll try to make DK2 main monitor and see if that helps.

Mmmh, that doesn’t sound right. Normally setting the game (actually any game) to the native res of the Rift is exactly the way it should work with vorpX. Other resolutions often aren’t displayed correctly.

The only explanation I would have for the behaviour you describe is that maybe your main monitor might be a bit older and doesn’t allow 1920×1080, which would make the resolution unselectable in the Skyrim launcher. Nothing vorpX could do about that, but you might be able to set 1920×1080 manually for Skyrim with an .ini tweak. That would at least be worth a try.

The other way around that would probably be to use the DK2 as primary monitor and set vorpX to “Use system settings” display wise (see the vorpX setup guide for details).

Got Skyrim to work but only in 1680×1050. 1920×1080 is not scaled and wrong stereo. I didn’t try running DK2 as primary monitor yet, its quite a pain.

ok, VorpX needs Net Framework 3.5.1 enabled in Windows Features. Without it won’t run. I got VorpX up and running now. Gonna try to disable profile and eye personalized rendering see if this resolves awkward scaling in Skyrim/Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 3 has the same problem as Skyrim. the stereo is not really a stereo but some odd rendering for each eye separately.

thanks. Another problem – got the Foallout 3 to work on extended, but 1920×1080 crashes, I tried one down – 1680×945 and it worked. Fallout 3 doesn’t have the weird scale issue, Skyrim does. I wonder why… I’ll try to disable profile. Hmm, for some reason VorpX Config now crashes too.. the heck is going on tonight.. lol :).

no head tracking, then not much point, i have not used vorpx since i bought it also, and i was under the impression head tracking worked with skyrim so i thought wont be long until it works with most.
but it does not ? lol
suppose i will be more careful on purchasing for dk2 now.. lesson learned.

back in a few month to see if anything as happened with the vorp and dk2..

Show only on Rift DK2 – this option only works if Skyrim is running in Full Screen, it doesn’t work in windowed mode. But its still image doubling. Like every eye has its own image. How do I fix that?

Also there is no d3d9.dll in Skyrim folder anywhere. I’ve tried to set main screen resolution to 1920×1080 as well with no effect.

    Here is what I’ve tried:

    GPU NVidia GTX 680
    Displays: My primary Monitor – 1920×1200 60Hz

    1. Extended Mode
DK2 is set up as extended – 1920×1080 75Hz in Portrait Mode (for appropriate picture position), scaling mode – aspect ratio, DK2 is on the left side of the main monitor in display settings.

Skyrim – Steam. I run VorpX config and apply recommended settings for Skyrim. Apply, Apply and Close (FOV, resolution, latency).

I start Skyrim from Steam. It starts on the MAIN monitor. DK2 still dispays desktop.

    2. Direct mode
Skyrim starts in a tiny window in upper left corner of the screen on main monitor. DK2 has nothing in it and power light is orange like there is no signal or something.

Anyways, the only way I can get it to work is with DK2 in extended mode and then I have to start Skyrim in Windowed mode and drag the game screen to the left of my main monitor. But it seems to be projecting separate picture for every eye or something because I have everything doubled in the game. I can see fine if I close one eye or the other, if both eyes open I see double.

    Please help.

Normally Skyrim should run without any problems, the only thing you have to do is following the DK2 setup guide in the documentation.

Apart from that please make sure to set all games to the native res of the DK2 (1920×1080) prior to playing them with vorpX.

Please also check whether you can find a d3d9.dll in your Skyrim folder. Some mod might have copied it there. If you find a d3d9.dll in your Skyrim folder, please remove it.

The dayz epoch mod works when I enable it in Arma 2 OA then restart but it didn’t work when I tried launching it directly from the dayz commander mod manager for some reason, anyway it look like mods will work too if launched directly from the game. Otherwise for dk2 movement it basically becomes your mouse in game (you can use your regular mouse as well) and you can still toggle freelook with a key as usual but by adding track ir (or free track might work too) it makes it automated + being able to zoom in and out, lean around corners etc… so you can add positional tracking if you’ve got the extra gear even though it’s not officially supported through vorpx yet like it is for Skyrim.

Do I need to run DK2 as primary monitor? Can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to run Skyrim with DK2. I have everything else setup, can run demos for DK2 no problem. But can’t get games to run under VorpX. I’ll also gonna be trying Fallout 3 if I can get Skyrim to run.

It is only game I cant get running with vorpx…. Ralf.. if you could please look at this one …It was running good on the DK1 …3D could have been better in cockpit. Many simmers will buy Vorpx just for FSX. It was the reason for me buying vorpx months ago. Now you got me hooked on Skyrim…see what you did!!
