Menu scaling is not available in EdgePeek mode on purpose. With a lot of games menus aren’t always fully usable while being scaled (Fallout Pipboy is a prominent example), that’s why it gets scaled back in EdgePeek mode.

The next vorpX version will have head tracking without mouse simulation for Skyrim though. A nice side effect of this is that it solves the glitch you describe since the cursor won’t move anymore when you move your head.

    Hey there.

Been looking through a few threads about Skyrim, but couldn’t really get an answer to this.

I’ve used the Vorpx optimized settings for Skyrim, but when I go ingame it’s like the screen is stuck to my eyes and the entire ‘window’ moves along wherever I look.

    (I’m using HTC Vive)

Now I looked at the options for headtracking in the vorpx ingame menu, where headtracking was set as off (while the game ‘screen’ was apparently stuck to my vive and following its movements). Turning it on brought the result that the skyrim ‘window’ wasn’t stuck to my view anymore, but rather on a stationary Screen to my left.

What I’d actually want is for the head-tracking to move the in-game camera for Skyrim, so that if I look up or down or to the sides, my character / the camera looks in that direction. From what I’ve read in some topics this should naturally be possible, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong that it isn’t doing that with my game.

By default when I look up and down, the game ‘window’ follows that movement but the camera view doesn’t change unless I move it with the mouse.

Hello, that’s my first post although I playing with Vorpex for a while now :)

So I manage to set up Skyrim with a satisfying level of smoothness and details what took me a while but the effects are great G3D 1920X1440, AA x4, Anisotropic X8 directly through nvidia driver, shadows low and rest off settings on ULTRA. With that settings game running between 40 and 60 fps in outeriors (although I haven’t been in any other town than Riverwood so far) and never bellow 85 in interiors.

Thanks for rich base of Skyrim modes I manage to reposition and rescale all HUD elements so they would be visible without using Edge Peak to often.

The last problem I’ve got is caused by being unable to rescale SkyUI inventory menu. I can do it using build in Vorpex settings, but then whenever I press Edge peak, inventory menu going back to standard size. Why would I want change the size of any menu in Edge peak mode? Well when I looking at the item in top left corner and then moving my had to see its statistics in bottom right corner mouse cursor moving together with my head and it just getting on my nerves when I have to choose it again, and again, and again. It causing me to continuously wearing, buying and selling incorrect items.

So… is there any way to scale the HUD in the Edge peak mode via Vorpex? Or the way to disable mouse cursor movement but not headtracking? Or maybe somebody knows another way to rescale SkyUI menus? Maybe is there a setting in SkyUI settings I missed?

    Please help :)

And btw, Ralf thank You for that amazing piece of software. Without It VR wouldn’t be the same.

When I first tried injector I had all sorts of issues. I don’t have a direct answer for you, but I would say to first do a completely fresh reload of Skyrim and ONLY SKSE, the crash fix/memory patches, the standard unofficial bug fix patch and then get Sky running on your monitor with Injector/ENBoost. Troubleshoot it there and get it running flawlessly.

THEN take it into VorpX. There is a TON of things that can go haywire so it’s best to start fresh and methodically eliminate/localize issues.

    Then mod from there.

That’s weird. The ENB Injector works for me with Skyrim, on my Rift. I do have a problem like you have where I sometimes hear the startup noises but the game displays nothing and I have to restart it, but otherwise it’s no worse than any other modded Skyrim install.

That said, I found I had to turn off ENB effects altogether because there were too many weird artifacts in VR and the 3D didn’t look very good. I’m really just using it for the memory manager at this point.

Skyrim (and other games) only allow either mouse or gamepad input normally. Since vorpX needs mouse input for head tracking, native gamepad handling is overriden for these games. vorpX has a built in gamepad emulation for these games (a bare bones version of tools like Xpadder or Pinnacle Profiler), which you can freely configure in the vorpX ingame menu. To do that go to the “Gamepad” page of the ingame menu and press the “Button Mappings” button.

For Skyrim and various other games there will be a new solution for this issue soon. With the next vorpX version you will be able to use your gamepad natively in Skyrim.

So I wanted to play skyrim in VR with my vive. I got it set up and stuff. I plugged in my xbox 360 controller and it is working, however I cannot do many things in the VR with it. For example in skyrim, I cannot open the character menu, I cannot run, R trigger keeps pulling the screen into 3rd person, as well as many other things.

As a side note, when in game, how do I change the FOV? I cannot see certain parts of the menu.

Can’t promise that. Since there is an Oculus version in the works for the game, others have a higher priority. Try to create custom profiles like described above, the ability to create copies of profiles and assign other games to them is exactly for cases like this where no official profile exists.

Yeah, tried to use skyrim’s profile, add the executables for ets2, but didn’t work. the vive was still in the blank welcome space.

Hello.I am using the enb injector that normally works with Vorpx to get the enboost for Skyrim.Basically I launch ENBInjector.exe then SKSE, and I know it works in the rift because of the message when starting and I can enter the enb presets in game. But it is giving me some issues currently.

First, I need at least 3 attempts in average to get the game running (I get the message that tesv.exe is taking too long to load) and when it is running starts the real issue : the scaling is wrong. It is hard to describe, it is as if the game is ignoring the bottom 25% of the screen and some parts from the side and is zooming on the 75% that is left.

When I get to the main menu after the intro, for 0.1 second I can see the correct scale, but then I see the white text disappearing on my lower corner to the right side, getting out of sight. And I stay out of scale when loading a party.

Does someone know what is causing this issue?

    Hi guys.
My problem is simple, it(title) does not work at all for me.
Oculus CV1, Oculus Home 1.9, Windows 8.1, Skyrim, vorpx 16.2.0. I am new to vorpx.
Since it worked flawlessly a long time with the Vireio 2.x driver, i did not expect a problem at all. But when i click the “Start Direct Headtracking Scan”, it beeps, and that is it.i move the HMD in concentic movement against counterclockwise. Long. No success. Am i doing something wrong?
I am absolutely not a fan of overriding the controller, it is kind of a showstopper for me. Right now, Skyrim is not playable for me with any of the profile that are online right now (or the local one). I get motion sick very fast when moving with the overridden controller, no problem with direct headtracking and direct controller. Any chance to get it working? Is it working in other games?

I have put in all the reconmended settings i can find (ini edits, vorpx optimized gsme, etc). I can get the game to look right if i am stsnding still looking foreard. The scale on things look right, but the problem is the mition and head tracking. It instantly creates a neasiating feeling because it just feels and moves slightly off. It feels as though it moves a little further than it should. Has anyone gotten it to have head tracking like oculus home or orher native apps? I was able to get decent playability on skyrim back on dk1 days, but second time around, and nothing feels right so far.

There are certain limitations that vorpX can’t work around, after all these games were made for monitor gaming not VR. One of these things is the scale of the weapon that in most games can’t be changed.

For Geometry 3D games (e.g. Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim) the camera height can be adjusted in the vorpX ingame menu. Just be aware that this may introduce visual artifacts.

In regard to field of view please check the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help. Addressing this is the most important thing for a comfortable experinece. There isn’t a single solution that works for everything, and there might not be a perfect way to address this in every game, but there always will be at least a viable workaround.

For cases where neither the game nor vorpX offers a solution, please check Flawless Widescreen, which for many games can hack into the game’s memory to overwrite the FOV.

The Essential Hints Guide also explains how to adjust the head tracking sensitivity, which has to be done once per game.

I hope they do include it as an option for people that need it too, but if they only have teleport, I think it will hurt sales. Choice is good. I’m sickness immune also. Thank God and can run around anywhere with no bad effects. I consider myself very lucky to be able to handle skyrim in VR in the lower 30 FPS range with no problems at all.

    Hi,
The in game settings are just coming up as a gray box in my games. Crysis, Skyrim etc. I can’t see any settings. Is there a fix for this? I have re-installed.

    Thanks

Honestly, I doubt that Skyrim remastered, comes with native support.
This would see a big part of my dream come true, but do not think so at all for several reasons.

    * Only several days left for its release, if so, never commented anything.

    * ID software are not friends now with Oculus, Fallout 4 Native support is announced for 2017 with HTC Vive, probably work with Oculus Cv1 by SteamVr, but this insurance company that does not provide at all support Cv1 on their own or effort .
I would put my hand in the fire for this belief.

    * Finally, Fallout 4 has only shown to date a demo system with teleport, I personally need another option extra of movement, in order to progress forward with joy,but pointed out, recharge and performing actions with touch or motion controls.

However, I hope the gods listen to his words.

If one day, we have games Bethesda, with native support, and motion controls, and choice available to walk forward, at the same time, then my dream into virtual reality, it will come true completely.
