In reply to: Pimax 5K+ Half-Life 2 rendering issue mirror images
RalfKeymasterAs far as I’m aware there is a setting in the PiTool software that affects how images are displayed. Look for something like “Parallel Projection” or similar.

FrostWarriorParticipantI have a Pimax 5K Plus I am trying to get Half-Life 2 to work with Vorpx I have tried the default HalfLife2 profile settings and an online profile settings from the Vorpx cloud but the image renders wrong on the VR HMD it looks like a mirror image I see double of everything in the game although the head tracking works perfectly. Is there any way of getting this game to render properly on the 5K Plus?

RalfKeymasterTry to run games windowed if you encounter something like that. Odd issues like this one can often be addressed that way.

RalfKeymasterGood news. As I said in the original thread: the better title back then would have been ‘Pimax is terrible with vorpX’ (due to missing frame interpolation), not the other way around. :)
If a game profile supports DirectVR FOV, the game FOV is calculated individually for whatever headset you use based on the “camera” parameters it reports via SteamVR. Provided Pimax reports everything correct, and there is no reason to believe it doesn’t, that should work fine unless a game has an FOV cap below the FOV you set in PiTool. I can’t be 100% sure without access to a 5k/8k, but I don’t see much that could go wrong in that regard.
In Bioshock Infinite you have to set the game’s FOV slider to the rightmost position for the auto FOV to be correct, just in case you overlooked the message about that.
The automatic resolution calculation however might not work correctly in all cases due to the rather different screen layout with two side by side widescreen panels. At least I can imagine the auto res algorithm still picking 4:3 under some circumstaces despite 16:9 being the better choice for Pimax 5k/8k. Have to look into that if/when I get access to a devkit.

haintsParticipantExcellent profile, dellrifter!
One issue I’m having–the vorpx in-game menu is just a bunch of blank boxes? I have to guess at what I’m adjusting …
And I can’t seem to get fullVR mode running. I get something like it, with head tracking, but I can still see the top and bottom of the screen … using Windows borderless gaming to play windowed in fullscreen for performance …
Feb 25, 2019 at 6:03pm #179835In reply to: How do i enable DX11 in Stalker SOC ?
RalfKeymasterIIRC with dynamic lighting characters and other dynamic objects will not render correctly. Not forcing anything via the command line and selecting static lighting in the game options should work best.
The DX9/11 message is probably related to one of the sequels that uses the same profile.
Feb 25, 2019 at 10:52am #179833In reply to: original Prey
RalfKeymasterThe profile is the same as the newer Prey since both game .exe files are named the same. So the older one doesn’t show as an extra game in the profile list.
If the game does not hook anymore, you could try to activate the alternative hooking method in the config app. Caveat: this method is not meant for general use, it’s not per se better than regular hooking. Only use it if you encounter issues with regular hooking and always try both methods.
If that does not help, disable/uninstall anything that might interfere with hooking. Most hooking issues are caused by some background program that also hooks into games. Potential examples are: virus scanners, any GPU/CPU utility, messengers, game recording/streaming software, messengers. Generally everything that can show notifications/overlays in game.

FlandyParticipantSo I’ve now gotten my key and tried Bioshock Infinite on it. Pretty impressive and reminds me of RE7 on PSVR. However the game is capped to 45fps on my Rift when it shouldn’t be. Didn’t matter if it was set to 480p or 1080p I still got 45fps. How do I disable that? Oculus ASW should only enable if I’m having performance issues which I’m not so I’m guessing there’s something else capping my framerate here?
I’ve got a GTX 1080 with an i7 9700k. My 1080 was at most hitting 40% GPU utilization so there’s plenty of GPU power left for another 45 frames to hit 90. What’s going on here? I’ve turned off limit frame rate in the in game settings but that didn’t do anything. Is there a VorpX cap somewhere that I’m missing?
Feb 24, 2019 at 9:08am #179808In reply to: GTA V Vr Mod not working
KulminaatioParticipantIs there any solution for this yet?
I use Oculus, but the mod installation guide tells you to use Vive “setup” on config, and if I do so then the hmd stucks at loading screen, like mentioned above.
If I use Oculus “setup”, The hmd works/loads fine, but Oculus Touch controls doesnt work (I can only aim, shoot and move forward, but nothing else).
Any suggestions for a fix/work around?
Feb 24, 2019 at 3:47am #179804
legaiaflame2ParticipantAlso, if you encounter graphical glitches during gameplay or during cutscenes, lower VU Cycle stealing back down to 0.
And just a reminder: Set the renderer to Direct 3D11 Hardware. Also, try to at least set the graphics to 2X Native (3X for better quality picture/resolution, if your computer can handle it).
Lastly, If you have Steam and are using an XBox 360 controller make sure you go into the Steam launcher, go to “Big Picture Mode”/Config/Controllers and uncheck all controller options. If anything is checked you will have controller issues.

dborosevParticipantAnd playing with it some more, Z3D is a good option too. Usually for these large outdoor games, if you crank the 3D depth up to 3.0, you almost can’t tell the difference between G3D and Z3D. Although for anything even remotely close quarters, G3D is still by far the best.

acParticipantHello everyone, I bought VORPX and first of all I tried to launch HL2 – the game plays on the screen in the window, and the cursor tracks the head tracking, but the white room with the HL2 banner and the loading message is hanging in OKULUS …
I was upset and thought it wasn’t working – launched mass effect 3 – everything works fine – a lot of settings, etc. from the first click.
This is cool but all my life I wanted to play HL2 through oculus rift, help to figure out what could be the problem, may need to download an older version of hl2 without steam, because I have a steam and it does’t work, or will you release a fix? please VORPX team, help run HL2.
Thank you.

RalfKeymasterIf you are overly distracted by that, you can switch to Z3D.
Some recent games have rather complex deferred rendering pipelines with a lot of compute shader pre/post-processing in screen space. Stereofying everything is not always possible, so not all glitches are avoidable. These games are a lot more complex than your typical game from just five years ago, games from ten or fifteen years ago look like high school projects in comparison technically.
Make sure to let vorpX optimize the game settings and do not touch any effects/lighting options afterwards. That will minimize potential glitches.
Feb 22, 2019 at 1:24pm #179762In reply to: problem with gamepad xbox one(wireless)
RalfKeymasterNever heard of anything like this before, sorry. The gamepad emulation behaves like described above per default. Left stick: WASD, right stick: mouse.
Just in case: check whether you maybe accidentally have an external gamepad emulation software running that might interfere (e.g. X-Padder or Pinnacle Profiler).
If a full factory reset does not solve your issue and you also can’t identify any external problem, the best course of action is probably to play with mouse and keyboard instead.

xnemphisxParticipantThe fact is that I did not change any of the settings that are related to the movement, the only thing I changed was the sensitivity of turning the head. Ie I start the game and already have a problem with the gamepad in half of the games, but I did not touch the settings with the control at all
