Ok seriously you are starting to tick me off sir. its insane that you are taking FOREVER to release it because apparently it has to be perfect..even though the first users for it will be with the DEVELOPMENT KIT! therefor we dont CARE if its not perfect!!!! jebus fricking christ. It just really upsets and frustrates me.. your software is badly needed because lets be honest right now that many things to try with the rift i did most of the demos and the only real game i can play on it is minecraft as i dont like the perception driver settings and half life 2 i rather play it without the hud but you gotta freaking enter two console commands everytime you load a map (and thats not easy to do with the rift).

i got my hopes up thinking oh wow at least world of warcraft is going to work with it using a mod someone did.

it doesnt..well not for me. maybe because my moniter cant run the super low resolution apparently required by the mod. corse it doesnt help that you have litterarly like 42 steps to get the damned thing working and even after all that it didnt for me….not their fault though but if they had a coder like you who could simply inject a driver instead of relying on TWO other programs .to get it to “render” right.

(again not really their fault i suppose though i strongly suggest they come up with a better solution in the future at least…)

but seriously come on release the damn thing already. we NEED it. and hey we are willing to PAY you for it.

hell. ill say it. it pisses me off!

you annouced it before the rifts started shipping you told us then “ohh oooh it will be out around when the rifts start shipping”

YEAH RIGHT!! then hyou go and post a nice little interview and have Road to VR do a nice preview of Vorpx like what 2 months ago? and since then NOTHING?

really?? i mean come on..how freaking long is it going to take you? my guess is another company like tridef or something is going to come up with a solution before your slow ass does.

the fact that you freaking dont even BOTHER now to update the blog here AT ALL in what THREE frigging months. shows you really dont give a flying fudge about the people here who want to be a part of it.

God just what we need for this …some anal developer whos locked in his room in la la land taking FOREVER to release a damn product thats right now for a DEV KIT vr headset.

GOD! it PISSES me off! how long is it going to be? another 3 months?

what really rubs my skin is the fact that you gave out (free im sure) nice little beta versions to “special people” who have had it for MONTHS now but for those who are willing to PAY YOU for the damn thing oh no screw that….no we cant get in the beta…not even if we ask. no sorry screw us huh?

whatever. you should have had a beta program like what they are doing on steam now where you pay for beta at a discount and then get the full version too

that way people who really want it wont have to wait months and months and months and months and months. and that way you could take all the time you wanted in the beta.

UGH. whatever. gotta say development for the rift has been pretty slow lately. there was a bunch of cool demos and stuffs the last few months but i dunno the last few weeks its like been silent. i guess there busy working on their projects but we NEED VORPX!

god id almost be willing to pay 100 bucks right now to get it JUST to have some more content to use with the rift!

hell thats what im doing right now with Unity. because of the lack of content.. i bought a 90 buck asset pack (was a nice one too) to have something to work with

and im kinda using it as an alternative to garrys mod because that idiot (ok he has a great mod but..still this pisses me off too) decides to say that it has -vr mode support in the beta and HE DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO TEST IT (YEAH ITS A BETA BUT STILL..AT LEAST if your going to enable a vr mode make sure it doesnt freaking crash the program every single time!)

so ive been trying to learn to import other models which ironically you most likely could get in garrys mod anyways.. so i can make my little scenes and its may cost me more as i might get some other programs to import more stuff into it.

but whatever. the rift is so awesome it just begs to have more content for it. and i dont mind paying for it if its cool.

but yeah…take all the damn sweet time you want. honestly wish someone would have uploaded a beta versoin of it on pirate bay or something so that those wanting to try it out actualy could as honestly a middle finger to you for annoucing this wonderful great awesome driver that now apparently has 80 game supported

AND TAKING FOREVER TO RELEASE IT AND RELEASING A FREE BETA TO A “SELECT” GROUP OF PEOPLE AND THEN COMPLETELY IGNORING US THE PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT!

sorry. people may think im being an ass for posting this.

but COME ON. maybe if enough people bitch about it you’ll finally decide “ooh gee duh maybe i should go ahead and release the beta for people who want to buy it”.

sorry this sounds negitive but apparently not like anyone ever posts that muuch here anyways considering that he has all but abandoned this blog.

RELEASE VORPX ALREADY. HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO BEG FOR YOU TO DO SO:?
    ugh.

deleate this post if you want i dont care just sick of waiting.

museumsteve: That’s fine, we know that. But when someone comes and tells you that he is developing a commercial software which would fill a big gap for Oculus users, than the person seemingly evoraporates into thin air, people get pissed off. It would take no more than one minute (!) for Ralf to make a short announcement every week where the development is heading. And unless he is trapped on the top of the Mount Everest without electricity and internet, I don’t see why he is unable to give us SOMETHING. Is this a huge request??? From future customers??? Damn…

I agree it’s frustrating but at the same time there’s something like maybe 10,000 rift’s out there now? and yet there’s not streams of people complaining about the delay.
It’s interesting because I’ve just read a statement (this morning) by someone at Kunos Studios who are making Assetto Corsa racing sim. They constantly update their fans/future customers with developments and new features, licences etc..and yet they get abused and told they’re just teasing all the time. It seems whichever way you go it’s deemed wrong by someone.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been looking forward to vorpX since day one, as each week goes by more official support is getting announced and with War Thunder already done, iRacing support next week, pCARS very soon (option is in this weeks build) I’ll only have to wait for rFactor2 and I wont need vorpX myself..
I just decided to go elsewhere and enjoy the many other demos and apps while waiting for full gaming in VR :)

I think the Oculus creators are going to have to get into the software business for this thing to take off. Relying on game makers is a losing proposition. Just look at 3d technology. After a promising start 3d has been all but abondoned on the consoles because studios are refusing to invest extra money to satisfy a niche market. If it werent for Helix Mod cleaning up Nvidias laziness most 3d games on the pc would be unplayable today. Vorpx isnt looking to be the white knight anymore to springboard this technology and the game studios may not feel the profit incebtive to give us what we want. I’ll be keeping a close eye on what sort of partnerships the Oculus team can arrange but it looks like this is going to take quite soe time now.

Why are people so worried. Anything the mainstream developers are doing now is purely at dev level. That’s like saying, OMG there’s no PS4 games in the shops…but that’s because it’s not out yet so it doesn’t matter.
The consumer Rift is probably a good 18 months away. Anyone that has a devkit bought it knowing there were no commercially available games and that we’d either be making stuff ourselves or living on tech demos and apps form the community.

The delay, i do think it have something to do with the latest SDK release where you can measure your IPD and create a VR Player Profile.
vorpX should use the player profiles, so no manual setup for each game.

When it’s finally released, I’ll probably wait until I see some reviews before buying. As we’ve all been in the dark for a while, the thing that worries me is what type of support we’ll get when we inevitably find bugs.

the fact also that you cant even bother to proide any more blog post updates on your progress on this site but instead post it on other sites shows that you really dont give a crap about us … too. i mean i KNOW your not working on the thin 24/7 ……at the very least as i have requested quite a few times….you could give us a updated list of the “80 games” that work with it or something. the fact that you didnt even mention world of warcraft works with the beta even though a german site showed it off.

i mean seriously you want to make a product show a little respect to the people who want to be a part of it….ugh……dont even know why you have this site up honestly just deleate this whole thing and then make a simple page that says “vorpx will come out when I say it comes out and i coudnt give a crap about you ”

lol……..well whatever. least i have unity hopefully by the time my trial ends in 4 months vorpx will be out

yeah right. should have came out 4 months ago.

seriously just release the damn thing already this is ridiculous im starting to wonder if this thing will EVER get released i mean we all have DEV KITS it DOESNT HAVE TO BE FREAKING PERFECT! dont understand for the life of me why a guy has to take FOREVER to release a software for a DEVELOPMENT KIT! i mean its not like the first version has to be retail quality you know, its just insane that we desprietly need more content for the rift for those of us who have the rift and arnt entirely game devs (though i am giving the 4 month unity trial a shot and will come out with a demo or two using some sort assets) still..vorpx will add a very nice selection of more games to work with the Rift which is what we need right now. we dont CARE if its bet awe dont CARE if there is some issues. WE ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT ANYWAYS NOW! why the HELL are you dragging your feet on this thing? you TOLD US months ago “vorpx will come out around when dev kits start shipping”

    YEAH ARIGHT!

come ON already…….what gets me is WE ARE WILLING TO PAY YOU. your not making any money right now until you open it up to buy (from it) why give it out free to a few people when a lot more people are willing to PAY you to get it!

crazy…..well im sorry but my first reply when this thing “does” come out is about damn time.

just what we need for this project a profectionest who doesnt give a crap about what his audience really wants now nor care about actually making any money from it ..apparently any time soon.

    “sighs”.

The torrent might be a little harsh, but otherwise I have to completely agree with MrGeddings. The fact that Ralf is not releasing any updates, nor there is any communication whatsoever is distasteful. Why would it be so hard to release a daily update of a few words like ‘Today is was optimizing the code for Flight Simulator X’, etc. Hell, we don’t even no if the project is still a go, or not… As someone pointed out Ralf could be even dead by now, it wouldn’t make a difference.
And even though I don’t have my Rift yet, this complete lack of communication is really pissing me off.
I also don’t see the point why VorpX is not relased yet. As we could all see, it already works with many games, and besides, no one ever heard of software update??? Vorpx will need to updated nevertheless when the consumer verison comes out, to support 6 DOF tracking. Or at least I guess so. So, if software update will be necessary than what harm would be done by releasing it now, even strictly as a work-in-progress version? Look at Arma 3! The guys released the Alpha version on Steam, and thousands of people bought it already. The game is in Beta stage now, and all Alpha users updated to Beta, as they will be updated for the final version as well, when time comes. Meanwhile they are releasing DAILY updates in a few sentences, so people now what’s going on. And yeah, they already have a ton of money from it, and the gamers are happy, despite the fact that they have paid for and using a yet unfinished product.
The situation with VorpX is really disappointing, and I don’t know if we can count on it, or it will never be developed. I don’t know, because the only thing I get is complete silence.

Ok Im sorry a lot of us are getting pretty frustrated here. I call for a petition that you release the beta already. IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE PERFECT!

this is a DEV KIT anyways we DONT EXPECT it to be perfect, you dont need to polish it so much that it has to be a “consumer level product” looks like what you have now is still way better then the Perception drivers. it really is frustrating. you give out a few free betas to a few people but the real people who want it most who are willing to PAY to have it even in beta stage you just ignore.

and honestly its also poor that you stopped doing ANY updates whatsoever on your website it makes us feel like you really dont care about us and that your just locked in your little world and you’ll only release it when you “decide” its ready.

The Oculus Rift has VERY FEW actual games to really play on it right now..and yeah its a dev kit but a lot of us arnt game devs we are just passionate about the idea so we supported it. Having an instant selection of 80 games to work with the RIft would be a huge plus, even if it wasnt perfect.

and as i said many times at the Very LEAST could you at least update the games list with the 80 games so far you have planned to work with it?

your commication is even worse then Oculus was at times and i just dont understand why we are pretty much begging you to release it even in beta form and we are willing to PAY you to do so……why you refuse.

and at leas for Gods sake give us a release date estimate you TOLD us that it would come out shortly after rifts started shipping, its been MONTHS.. and you only had a beta preview over at ReadtoVR a mmonth ago but nothing else since.

PLEEASE RELEASE IT already!!!!!! because otherwise whenever you “decide” to come out with it my first comment would be

freaking christ its about damn time!

either that or someone who has the beta should leak it to a torrent if you ask me since this guy is not going to bother to let us have acesss to the beta even if were willing to pay for it then i dont mind paying for the full thing once you “decide” to actually come out with it.

redilicous ..and it sucks for YOU too because you are not making any money right now…if you released the beta now you could be making an actual profit from it.,

so the ONLy logical reason i can get is for you not to release it simply because you are just a super perfectionist who WILL NOT release anything uless you think its”perfect”

just great…..just who we needed to develop this thing……..release the damn thing already. this is ridiculous.

Valez, complaining about it is just about the only thing we can do to change Ralf’s mind about releasing it. Holding out at this point I feel is self-destructive on Ralf’s part. Timing is everything, but even Ralf should know that now is the time to cash in on the Rift. Anyone who is making money in the “Rift economy” right now will surely be making much more come consumer-time. Regardless, all we can do is keep voicing our frustration on Vorpx.com until he figures this out. Ralf, release it and get the reputation you deserve.

Seriously you had the rift for what over two months now? youve let several people try out the beta (free i bet) yet you wont open it up for people to buy yet? Just really frustrating as the perception drivers doenst work the best has glitches seems to crash when i try to select the rift head tracker (dont have rift yet but..) will get it today. Please please were begging you release VorpX already. i am perfectly sure it will be just fine releasing it as it is now and just label it beta….the only news you keep giving us is “no idea when its ready” :-(. Please release vorpx soon! so frustrating! about as frustrating (not quite though) as the customs holdup for uS people because its just the fact that we have no news or indication whatsoever when you are planning to release it. maybe it would be good for yourself to create a deadline the problem with not having a deadline sometimes is it can tempt you to go on and on and on trying to make it “perfect” and the months go by and all.. this is a despritely needed product right now as there are only a very small few games that actually work on the Rift.. :-(. Just dont understand why when we are pratically begging you to release the drivers you wont do it. and we will pay you! thats the crazy thing!

Sighs.. you said to us.. your words were that orginally you would release Vorpx “soon after” the dev kits started shipping. well its been two months since then. dont you think its time to let the cat out of the bag?

    :-(

It seems unneccesary to go for the whole “Retail launch” thing with VorpX until Oculus goes for the whole “Retail launch” thing, am I right? There’s nothing wrong with releasing VorpX as a developer “beta” launch, with it’s bugs (very minimal at this point, I’m sure). Nothing wrong with asking for $40 for the beta software for now, and letting us help you figure out the bugs. That would help in multiple ways. We appreciate your devotion to the product and making sure it’s ready, to this point it seems like a decent strategic move. All I’m saying is that right now is the time to launch, the people who have their rifts now are the people you want to comment on your product and build steam for vorpx, not the typical consumer crowd.
