    Hi all,

First time post but I’ve had VorpX for a while now.

Anyway, I’m this close to having a perfect Skyrim VR setup but to keep the frames up constantly I need it running in Z-Normal or Adaptive. However, only Geometry works.

It’s hard to explain but the entire bottom and the entire right side (about a third of the screen) is unviewable, it’s just a mess of lines. I can see colour move as I move but what’s there is just a constant blur. What I can see of the screen looks and runs great, but the bottom and right don’t. I can switch back to Geometry. reset and it has the full screen back but then also the performance hit that comes with it…

I’ve set it up the normal way, DirectVR works, hooking isn’t an issue, it’s just an blur on the bottom of the screen…

Any advice on what could be causing this? Any other info, I can provide it.

vorpX 17.2.2 has been released. Please note that this is just a fix for the critical issue mentioned below. The next regular version is not quite ready yet, hence this hotfix which had to be released ASAP.

    • Mouse emulation head tracking could fail on some systems

If you didn’t experience this issue, the update does not bring any changes for you.

Imagine a very happy smile when sawing the update starting in the client, only to convert it to a sad face because it was only a fix

    :( only a fix…ok then..

I was just thinking of DirectVR support to Dying Light VR, Killing Floor 2, etc. :P

I could confirm that not only it works, but also that it works amazing, with DirectVR supported, I´ve been enjoying it …. a lot!

And that was my main reason to buy VorpX (in between other amazing games)

Oh yes, of course you can’t purchase it with the subject matter.

Anyway it works now, much thanks.

DirectVR is a real accomplishment and improves VorpX no end.

How did you get DirectVR to work? It fails during Rotation every time for me.

The thing with the controller is a big issue, I think. In the last version unplugging the controller and making sure the override was turned off before directvr scanning seemed to correct the issue with head tracking. Now I can do that, but it will override the controller to vorpx settings in the middle of gameplay and there is no workaround for me. Though I have to say through all the frustration, the learning makes the game that much more rewarding. And it does get better every time. Thanks Ralf!

I’ve had this issue a lot with Dishonored. The scan seems to be location dependent. Try moving somewhere else on the map and run the scan again. Try reloading an earlier save. Helps if you quicksave often. If you can’t get it working & you have the fov set as Ralf suggests, just go into the vorpx menu and turn directvr off. Head-tracking should be working again. Then play like this for a while and if you want, try driectvr after a couple minutes or after a new area loads.

I use one of the first-person body mods: I forget which one. That fixes the hands.

However, it conflicts with DirectVR, so it’s not an ideal solution.

Is it possible to add a setting in the ini files that would hide the info messages VorpX shows in the headset? Like the one that is shown immediately when the game starts about DirectVR been supported and the one after DirectVR scan about the experimental positional feature.
The one at the start is problematic for me because it sits on top of the saves list and I need to wait for it to go away before I can load a save.
    Thanks!

Recently i bought vorpx license and tried to play in HL2 and Mirrors Edge on my DK2 in DirectVR Mode. After some seconds textures start to jump even if you standing. I dont know how to fix this issue. My ingame fps is constantly around 74-75. Also without enabling DirectVR mode everything runs fine.
    My Hardware:
    OS : Windows 10 Pro Build 15063 x64
    Processor : Intel Core i5-3470 3.2 Ghz
Videocard : Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
    RAM : 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz

    New user of vorpx here….

So far I can’t get Skyrim to launch in it, though the very first time it did launch and all I clicked was the DirectVR scan as advised. After closing and relaunching it has never launched again correctly, only with a black screen window on the desktop and the sound from the game.

I’ve tried every setting with Vorpx to reset to default and even loaded a few profiles from the cloud profiles area but nothing has got me past this.

Any ideas where to look/fix this as it did launch the first time but now nothing :(

I’m having the same issue–Skyrim was working absolutely flawlessly, but it seems that after the latest Oculus driver update that’s no longer the case. Exactly as the OP describes, the DirectVR scan no longer works–instead of showing the overlay with its various status bars, the image will just freeze for a few seconds, and then when it’s moving again, the geometry of the head tracking is still completely skewed like you’re using the z-buffer setting instead of the geometry setting. This is so depressing because as obnoxious as Oculus is, I don’t think there’s any way to roll the driver back, and you aren’t even able to use Oculus home unless you do update. ugh.

Ralf, please update VorpX as soon as you can, I really want to play Skyrim again.

Is there a list with DirectVR supported games besides having to go through the changelogs? The supported games page should really be updated.

I’d be looking at isolating some issue with the VorpX install from 17.1 -> 17.2. I don’t say it lightly but a fresh install of Win10 would most likely work. The unidentified issue would remain unidentified but you’d be enjoying Skyrim in VR.

If that’s not an option then I’d start a new post with the title ‘17.2.1 no DirectVR option’ describing this phenomenon… hopefully the author will give his opinion (if he hasn’t already).

The lines at the top of your log file (“INF: CHECK: HOORAY!”) are not present in my log file but maybe they were present for earlier builds… this could be evidence that your VorpX install is stuck at an earlier (non-DirectVR) build. Again, difficult to troubleshoot and adequate reason to re-install.

    Thanks for the response!

A month with a 1080ti and no VR Skyrim! That’s torture.

    Indeed it is!

Your summary is almost right… everything works as intended apart from the scan. It is worth pointing out that the problem is in all games, not just Skyrim so that should rule out issues with SKSE, etc (although I am running vanilla Skyrim). I use Fallout 4 as a good example as this is a fresh install and the scan worked for me previously there. So at worst I can play with head tracking as mouse emulation.

I assume you’ve got the three necessary apps running… Oculus Client, VorpX (v17.2.1 running in the taskbar with ‘Device Selection’ set as ‘Oculus Rift’) and you’re starting Skyrim via Steam. Because you’re having trouble you’re running no mods whatsoever (so no SKSE).

    Correct

I also assume that non-VorpX VR titles are working without issue.

    Correct

Launch Skyrim from Steam. From ‘Options’ set as ‘Aspect Ratio (4:3 or 5:4)’ to ‘1280×1024’) and ‘Windowed Mode’, then ‘Play’. The monitor should show a black window with the VorpX logo bottom middle and the app starts in the Rift.

    It does, yes.

On or before the Skyrim main menu did you see a message window that says ‘DirectVR supported. Partially cached’ and ‘Recenter tracking if it feels odd in any way’?

I get the ‘Recenter tracking…’ message. I don’t get “DirectVR supported, Partially cached” in any games (Bioshock 2, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Dishonored, Deus Ex)

Still in the Skyrim main menu (before selecting ‘Continue’ to start game) can you press ‘Del’ on the keyboard to bring up the VorpX in-game panel? In ‘Main Settings’ there’s a bunch of options starting with ‘Virtual Cinema Mode’ which should have a ‘Direct VR scan Alt+L’ option below. Is this there and can you left-click it if it is?

When I press the Delete key the menu pops up with, as you say, the Virtual Cinema option at the top. The only buttons I get are “Alter FOV” (this just attempts to open the Skyrim console and enter “fov 110” – I only have this button in certain games and “Recenter Tracking (Alt + Space)”. There is no ‘Direct VR scan Alt+L’ button. It is worth pointing out I used to have this as of Vorpx version 17.1. As of 17.2.1 it has disappeared…

Hi. It sounds like you can get VorpX to display Skyrim in the Rift but there’s no DirectVR functionality… is that right? The game loads up in the HMD and you can play even though head-tracking is all over the place. From your posts you seem to say that there’s no Direct Scan option in the VorpX in-game config panel and Alt+L isn’t doing anything.
