Thanks for the pointer Ralph… I do have a Reddit account but I waste so much time on Twitter I barely check in anymore :P

I’ll get around to this; I see kurry got ahead of me on it – thanks for that! I do recall a few of my information videos were shared there and they exploded! Really appreciated.

Hope in the end we just get more people using VorpX. Since DirectVR, not only is this *for real* but also, Bioshock Infinite has finally made be believe a non-VR game can fully, fully, fully, fully go VR with this tool. we’ve gotten close before, but BsI is undecipherable from a real seated VR game right now.

Unfortunately a new download link didn’t change anything. I tried both Skyrim and Fallout 4 (Clean Install). The ALT + L combination does nothing and on the vorpx in-game menu there is no button at all for run scan or the DirectVR settings.

Can you please let me know what could me to be getting this?

    Hi,

To combat the recent problems I have been having I thought it worth to try a new download link since it almost seems that the VorpX control panel is 17.2.1 but the running service is older (since there is no reference at all to DirectVR scan in the menus).

I sent in the link yesterday morning but I have yet to hear anything. I wasn’t sure if this was an automated system and if there was a problem. Could you please send over the link?

I would like to propose the game (elders scrolls online) as candidate for work dx11 with vorpx, get g3d in this title would complete the support for Bethesda titles of maximum interest with VR.
In addition, there is an announcement for the launch of Morrowind expansion for 6 June 2017, and personally I really want to have this support in Vorpx even now.

G3D, we would return some advantages in this title, for players who have powerful equipment,in addition to better 3d.
For example, possibility to add a bit of extra FOV from the Vorpx menu,to extend a little distance between the camera and arms, also the HUD/GUI rescaling, and probably the function to activate or not positional tracking.

Personally,I would not mind if it is necessary to disable or exclude any possible graphic effect incompatible with g3d,I think it could deserve the effort equally.
I will include this request also in the Games Wish List,to formalize it in the corresponding section.

-I have noticed that the game itself allows several important options, such as the following:
    Positive Data:
    -Possibility increase of (FOV) ingame.
-Possibility of deactivation headbob in first person camera.
-Possibility of hiding HUD and bar skills out of combat and more options.
-Possibility to use gamepad including use of skills optionally.
-“Possibility to support window mode, borderless”, and full screen.
-All available ingame and also from game files.

    Negative Data:
-Changing resolutions to get closer aspect ratios like 4:3 or 5:4 or 16:10 does not seem to have any effect on the narrowing size change…or I’m just going through some detail with this particular game.
I have tried switching to borderless mode and full screen while changing different resolutions.Any ideas here?

-It occurred to me to perform a test using the (strech mode) available in the vorpx internal menu,as a last option, but this is too narrow.
It is probably a good idea to improve this mode,to make it a bit wider,
And thus have a secondary option for some games or cases like this.
I have always thought that having this option available together with letterbox modes 1 and 2 is a wise mode, but it is too narrow to take advantage of using it.

    Conclusions:
-A retouch for this mode(in general),and the inclusion of a G3D profile for Elder Online scrolls, would simply be a brutal added improvement.

PD:Before I say goodbye, I would like to take advantage of this thread,
to dedicate 2 minutes to congratulate the great work done with the version Vorpx 17.2.0 and to thank the simple fact of being able to play some of my favorite games in vr.
I am really enjoying a lot of changes in the last two versions, and the DirectVR functionality seems like a great success,a function with many possibilities and the right way to go now and in the future with new improvements.
I also thank some of added profiles.
    regards.

It won’t let me activate the gamepad in the options, it’s as though it doesn’t recognized that its plugged in once I do the DirectVR scan.

    Thanks for the response Ralf.

The issue is that once I do the Direct VR scan, the option to use a gamepad is disabled in the settings and there is no way to adjust any of the button mappings in game. It’s still possible that I’m going about it the wrong way. Could you possibly give me the order of steps I should be following

    Like:
    1. Load level
    2. Run DirectVR Scan
    3. etc….

It would be very helpful and then I’d know if the problem is how I’m trying to accomplish it on my end.

    Thanks again!

Dear God. Geometry 3D and DirectVR?

    I love this game.

I’m seeing similar issues with Dishonored. You can always turn DirectVR off and manually tweak FOV etc…, then try running the scan from a different in-game location after some progression. I’ve found the scan has real trouble in certain parts of the game/maps/locations. I had this exact same problem in the same in-game location with vireio when they implemented scanning of memory addresses well over a year ago. May have been 2 years at this point. Wow, time flies.

I assume from the lack of replies it means that everyone is running this game perfectly.
I constantly need to rerun the DirectVR scan just to be able to play; which of course ruins the immersion. I can only speculate that the memory addresses that this game uses shifts from time to time.

Any help or advise that anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the latest updates, can you update the game list and add some way to see in that list the games that currently support directvr mode? https://www.vorpx.com/supported-games/

Can users make directvr mode profiles by copying current directvr profiles or do they all need to be made by you?

Does anyone know how to force a custom resolution for this game? My monitor is only 1680×1050, so I’ve had to set it for 1280×1024 which is less than ideal…

I tried modifying the .ini file, but the changes never seem to take affect, and the game always just runs at 1280×1024… And if I try to use the oculus tool to increase pixel density the game just seems to crash.

Other than my resolution issue this game is amazing with DirectVR!

    Hi guys,

I’ve searched on the forums and on Google for similar problem description that I am having and I couldn’t find anything, so now I’m posting to request help.

I’ve just started playing Fallout 3 and I’m having the strangest problem. After a period of time running the game, say 30-60 minutes not sure exactly how long, the picture in the HMD goes black. Even with the HMD black, the picture is still there on my monitor. Also, although the game world has disappeared in the HMD, I can still bring up the VorpX menu on the HMD. Finally, when I quit the game, the SteamVR underlay immediately comes up, so I know there is no problem with my HMD.

So HMD game world goes black, VorpX menu still comes up, game world on monitor is fine and game keeps running (so I can save and quit and not lose any progress).

I do have a few mods on Fallout 3. The recommended ones like the unofficial patch, the 3GB enabler, the automated Purge Cell Buffers as well. I do have others on also but I’ve already tried running with mods disabled and it doesn’t help. Actually I only installed the 3GB enabler and automated PCB after coming across the problem in an attempt to fix it, but it didn’t help.

Also, I’m playing with DirectVR mode enabled.

It doesn’t matter if I’m actively playing the game or not. I’ve paused the game before to do something else away from my PC, and when I come back it is in the blacked-out state.

Throughout it all, the game continues to actually run, I can hear sounds, and the image on the monitor is still there as well, only the game world rendering in the HMD seems affected.

Has anyone else seen a similar issue? I’d appreciate any help trying to fix this.

    Thanks

I uninstalled MEA after the trial so I can’t test what works and what not.

Since I posted first about Tridef here I want to say that I don’t see it as a product in the same category as VorpX. One of them is specifically useful with 3D TV sets, the other one is VR specific. And while I have no intention in discussing Tridef here, there is something I wanted to say about VR theather mode vs 3D TV.

I feel I (and other users that own and use 3D TV sets) have a different idea of what we value in VoprX the most. For me it is the DirectVR and the way VorpX turns an old flat game into a VR experience. I actually started seriously replaying Skyrim and FO3/NV (TTW) in the past weeks because they feel now like completely different games. And the heavily modded Skyrim playthru I’m doing now is one of the 3 best experiences I ever had in VR.

I completely ignore the existence of the Theater mode. The resolution of the current HMDs, the SDE, the sweets spot issues, the general inconveniences coming from wearing the headset for hours, make me prefer the big 3D TV. In the next few years – until the screens, the graphic hardware, the optics in the VR headsets improve a lot, playing on a 3D TV will be a vastly superior experience to any form of VR theater mode. (I don’t know if providing a 3D SBS stream to a monitor/TV is something that was ever considered as an option for VorpX.)

As as result of all this I consider all the time spent into making a game playable in theater mode in VR to be wasted. As opposed to making a game be able to be experienced and played as a VR experience. It is slower and harder to do I guess, but it is worth it. Just my 2 cents.

Hi, Ralf! I am confused with the controller mapping policy in the new vorpx. I understood previously that if a game supports natively the xbox controller, then you disable the mapping and give a message that it is not needed with directvr. But Dark Messiah of M&M does not have a native controller support, and I still cannot access the mapping. Do I miss something?

Hi all – I am trying to use VorpX with GTA V for the first time. While the game is loading, I see the “Vorpx” watermark at the bottom of the screen, and I can see ot through my HTC Vive headset.

I see in faint red text at the lower part of the screen saying “Direct VR failed. FOV unchanged”.

The game seems really zoomed in and not really playable.

Settings do I need to change? I googled Vorpx settings for GTA V and see lots of conflicting setups.

    Thanks!
    J
