Nice post :-) I got few titles lined up:
    – Skyrim SE
    – Morrowind (pity it does not work with distant lands)
    – GTA V
    – Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
    – Mafia
    – Mafia II
    – A Story About My Uncle (is surprisingly nice in vorpX)
    – Giants: Citizen Kabuto (idem; this is a fantastic retro)

and I hoped also for some of my sims: Flight Sim World, Il-2 1946, Il-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz and Rise of Flight… however unfortunately these do not work in 3D (but are fun also in 2D).

The question is – when will I get the time to give all these a shot? :-)

I play Farm Sim a few hours a day

Rfactor is another daily driver. Cars in that game are such a rush.

    3rd would be Last Remnant.

    How well does GTA5 work?

Well of course stereoscopic 3D and Direct VR FOV with tracking are gonna eat some performance.
Stereoscopic alone is the native resolution x2, 3D requires firepower period!!!
VorpX still eats less fps than my 3D Vision setup.
And please don’t use GTAV as any sort of benchmark…the game just isn’t optimized nor meant for VR nor 3D Vision really.

I’m running on a beefy 1080ti/8700k combo though

The narrow resolutions only make sense if you don’t have to use image zoom. When image zoom comes into play you typically want more pixels horizontically to avoid left/right black bars. So in that case 4:3 or even widescreen make sense, depending on the game and how much zoom you need.

Many older games (GTA:SA included) only really support 4:3 without streching the image though, so that’s your only option here anyway. What 4:3 res you choose is entirely up to you. The higher the resolution, the better the image quality. You can freely choose any 4:3 res between 1280×960, and, let’s say, 2880×2160, depending on what your PC can handle.

BTW: I understand that you want to play every game in full VR mode, but you should REALLY give immersive screen mode a try for games that don’t allow to adjust the FOV. It was mainly introduced to let you play such games without having to deal with sometimes confusing FOV/aspect ratio matters.

Some games allow custom aspect ratios and resolutions that you can switch too while in game. Generally you need to first create these resolutions in Nvidia control panel beforehand (see thread for details), and they should show up in your game settings to choose from. I’ve made a list of 20+ custom resolutions in my control panel that now show up in games as selectable, making it easy to see which looks best.

You could try making one for 1440×1600 (I believe you meant, for vivepro or odyssey), and see if it shows up in GTA5 video settings while playing.

Note however that this aspect ratio will likely not work well for most games, and you will likely end up using the recommended 4:3, 16:10 options.

Instead of checking “Don’t optimize” (leave that on to handle other settings), you want to disable specifically the Preferred Resolution setting only of the DirectVR page of the Delete Key menu in game.

Good news, I have been able to get VorpX working in FiveM with minor problems. I will post a guide once everything is perfected, but for now I am simply trying to get the game to display to my Vr headsets native resolution (1600×1440). I was able to do this for GTA story mode using steams launch options, but FiveM dosen’t seem to recognize that as it does not launch through steam. I also tried using the commandline.txt file to set a custom res there, but still no dice. If anyone has any insights into fixing this problem let me know, I will continue searching myself. I am so close!

Hi just want to share things.
I am using an xbox elite controller ( with paddles). I alway had problems getting the controller fit to Skyrim,fallout4, witcher, gta5 just to name a few.Alway missing funktions,, and keyboard funktion mostly not available. I had xpadder installed but the paddle cant be remapped. So yester day i found the rewasd mapper.
It tooks a few hours,, but now all keyboard funktions, macros and different profiles are now programmed. Its almost unbelievable now i can use my elite contoller that can handle four single controller setups for each game and best the profiles can be switch with one click at a dedicate combo programed .I v can have mouse, keyboard and xbox controller activated simultaniously. I tested today with vorpy and so far no problems. I even can use one controller mapping for all my games…..

Sorry I wasn’t very clear. I am indeed using the GTA VR mod. When I run VorpX alone, the FOV is perfect. It’s when I activate the mod in game that the FOV distorts. So as @haints is suggesting, if the mod’s FOV tweak is messing up the VorpX FOV tweak, disabling the VorpX FOV may resolve the issue.

Is there a way to disable the VorpX FOV?

    Which HMD do you have?

I tested just now in my rift (even using the alternate dll you linked) and things are working with updated profile. Please be aware that Ralf has since asked us to no longer discuss or post links regarding bypasses and trainers, sorry.

If you haven’t already, please try the (Rift) labeled profile I have uploaded from Dec2018. The original profile from this post was based on GTA5, but game updates caused problems with Z3D. I later found that an updated Battlefront 2 profile handled Z3D much better. Even if you are not using rift HMD, please give the rift profile a try. You can adjust it as needed to suit any HMD.

If you plan to play in fullVR mode, I recommend a square resolution (2400×2400) for best camera FOV results. Create the custom res with your Nvidia Control Panel first, then select it from the fullscreen resolutions in game. If it gives you trouble choosing custom resolutions in game (as it recently sometimes does), you can manually set it in GRW.ini.

    Documents\My Games\Ghost Recon Wildlands\GRW.ini

    [Display Settings]
    KeepStandardAspect=1
    WindowMode=2
    DisplayWidth=2400
    DisplayHeight=2400

*add KeepStandardAspect line if it does not already exist

Slide Extended FOV to max in game.

Hopefully the new profile fixes your problem, but if it doesn’t, let me know and I’ll take a closer look at all my game settings and post them exactly.

Edit: I’m using Temporal AA (some games having AA on vs off is important), and leave resolution scaling at 1.00 (scaling almost always breaks Z3D in games for me).

I gave up on the dual boot idea – I believe I can only install vorpx once, plus I am always careful what I install for the reasons RJK mentions. I didn’t want to start installing two Oculus Homes, two vorpxs, etc.

I’ve tried running things every way I can think of – shortcuts, admin, compatibility modes, disk version, steam version.

Every time it is the same – the game runs in flat screen, but the same error appears when I try to use vorpx. I give up.

(I did start looking for a cracked version of GTA4, but I am always put off by the suspicious pop ups and fear of viruses).

Not the end of the world, but I must admit, it was probably the one game I really bought Vorpx for, and after all that the only thing I’ve achieved is buying a pointless second copy of the game LOL

Really disappointed. I bought it on Steam and I still have the problem. The ame runs fie in flat screen. But when I start Vorpx and then start GTA4, I get the error message ‘seculauncher failed to start application 2000’

I have tried starting everything as admin (Steam, GTA4, Vorpx, Oculus home). I’ve tried installing various C++ 2005 redistributables, x64 & x32, and it still throws up the same error.

I search and find many people with the same problem, twice as many different views on how to fix it, but no definitive answers that have been proven to work.

If anyone recognises this error and has succeeded in getting past it and running Vorpx I would really appreciate them posting here.

    Cheers :)

Support of VORPX missing, therefore misses opportunity to be used at basically all other non-vr games
Support of VORPX missing, therefore misses opportunity to be used at basically all other non-vr games.

Vorpx tool provides ways of using any game in virtual reality, could be OVRDrop made in a way, that it would be displayed also over VORPX game overlay for example in GTA5?

I started also thread at VORPX site here – https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/ovrdrop-overaly-app-doesnt-work-as-in-other-vr-games/

    thank you

OVRdrop is powered by SteamVR, and thus can only be seen when SteamVR is running and rendering. vorpX can also be made to run through SteamVR, and thus OVRdrop should be visible in vorpX games when rendering through SteamVR. I have not tested this, but if vorpX is running as a proper SteamVR title, then OVRdrop should be visble and functional.

You will need to set vorpX to run through SteamVR. OVRdrop is only supported by SteamVR at this time, as opposed to something like Oculus Home. OVRdrop works with Oculus Rift and other non-SteamVR-first HMDs, but only when SteamVR is the SDK rendering to the headset. I would be happy to add support for other SDKs when they support the vital functions of OVRdrop, however at this time no other SDK that I know of supports the things OVRdrop needs.

That’s true, thank you, it was due to my Oculus, I uninstalled oculus software maybe unnecessarily , used pimax glasses, and configured in VORPX steam support instead of oculus, and it started to work, although my ovrdrop windows was behind

as since pc games use the same control keyboard, I usually cannot control the game, when different window is activated in windows than the game, and I don’t know if there is any way to overcome this.

what happend is i put 2 mods back in to my clean gta file
menyoo, spawn sp cars.asi along with open iv asi’s etc.
the day before i’d updated windows 10 & nvidia’s latest driver,
all worked as normal when we were running 18.3.1.0.
went to test the mods was opening vorpx which auto updated to 18.3.2.0
got in game. menu was all over the place, extra judder, shrunk fov in car

the update seemed to of caused this.
i think maybe i messed up by resetting everything to default ?
in the end turning off partial over ride, disabling tracking prediction
dropping my shadow quality put everything back to normal.

all these updates & settings has been a learning curve having been less than a year since i switched from console to pc. would never go back now tho’

cheers for the help guys ! issues resolved.

Is anyone successfully starting GTA 4 (non Steam version) with vorpx please?

My game runs fine (with the original dvd in the drive), but if I activate vorpx first, when I start GTA4 I get a message telling me to use the original DVD and try again.

It IS the original DVD in the drive, and only gives the error when vorpx is active, so I don’t know what else to try.

Has anyone any suggestions for this please, before I try a reinstall of the game?

    Thanks
