Hello, just launched Vorpx to give it a try on GTA V. It auto-updated, but when it started, it says that it doesn’t recognize the headset (DK2). The headset obviously is working perfectly.
As I said after I installed VorpX my games started crashing or freezing (tried Fallout New Vegas and GTA V) and my OS goes unstable. I uninstalled it and have been without resets or crashes for 8 hours straight.
Don’t you think it could be something VorpX is doing in the background ?
Or at least incompatibilities with software already running ? I’ve seen people reporting issues with antivirus software for example.
I’ve been having this problem for MONTHS with VorpX. Until now it was a non-issue since 99% of games worked anyways. I read here that it’s only needed for 64 bit games.
Well, GTA V is one such game and it does NOT work on my system. VorpX won’t hook into it because every vorpx startup greets me with
VorpX VR Stereo Driver Control has stopped working
ALWAYS. I’ve tried sooooooo many things Ralf. All of the troubleshooting. All of the recommendations in similar threads with other people that have the same, seemingly unfixable problem!! Uninstalled antivirus, uninstalled OVR, uninstalled VorpX, started as normal, started as admin, reinstalled everything, reinstalled C++ runtime, reinstalled Direct X.
NOTHING. HELPS.
I’ve got a common Win 7 x64 installation – WHY DOESN’T IT WORK ON MY SYSTEM, EVER *pulls out hair screaming*
My nerves are wrecked because of this by now…. all I wanted is to experience gta5 in the Rift…
vorpx hasnt auto updated for me inawhile but i just got gta v so i was trying to get it to work with vorpx and it didnt work and seen that your new update has that the game is compatible with it,so i read to update just to run the vorpx web launcher which i did,i then seen it updated my oculus runtime to the new 0.5.0.1 which doesnt seem to work with my dk1,so i unistalled the oculus runtime and sdk and went back to 0.4.4 which my oculus dk1 is reconized with that but vorpx still doesnt reconize my dk1,do you know of anyway i can get my dk1 to work with the new update and if not is their anyway i can go back to a previous version of vorpx before the oculus runtime 0.5.0.1 was included,i love this software it has been a godsend for playing games on vr and i always tell people vorpx is the goto software to play games on vr and it suck since updating id never be able to use the software with my dk1 again, thanks for creating such awesome software that ive put thousands of hours into the past year
I get sick after about 10 min of playing every vorpx game I have tried, the most recent being GTA 5. Does this happen to a lot of people or is there something I am doing wrong that is causing this to happen?
BTW games that have native oculus support do not cause this problem.
I have tried disabling the antivirus. I guess uninstalling it will be my next attempt. Is there no way to force the vorpControl64.dat to run? Vorpx works on everything else, just not GTA V. Very disappointed.
reinstalled vorpx, without anti virus etc running. stereo driver control fails with a popup, and vorpxcontrol64.dat dissapears from the list of processes.
this happens each and every time and because of this, vorpx wont show correctly in gta v.
what’s causing this? been to reddit etc but nothing i do works, yet others have it working off the bat.
Just want to add that I am also having a hard time with the 360 controller/VorpX controller setup.
VorpX conflicts with the regular 360 functionality in many ways and setting up the gamepad emulator in VorpX is also a chaotic mess that doesnt work.
Hopefully this gets resolved because other than that GTA is by far the best experience Ive had with the Rift and the potential is incredible. Especially because aiming with the Rift brings all the advantages of mouse aim while still being able to use the controller like normal.
Besides all of that, VorpX is a great piece of software. I bought it for GTA alone and was nervous purchasing it but no regrets!
no luck with the xbox joystock. i went into the registry and changed the OEM name but GTA still see’s it.. Wish there was a fix for this since everything else is pretty close to as good as you can expect with an injector.
I had to change my FOV for driving since i zoom out in vorpx so i can see the mini map. @ 89 (120) the car is all warped in this mode so I set it to 68.
I hope there is a hack to move the mini map. Would really like to see it while in full VR mode
That’s an unfortunate side effect of setting the mouse mode in GTA V to “Windows” instead of “Raw Input”. Changing it back to “Raw Input” should get rid of it.
Alternatively you can still use the menu with the cursor keys, but that’s also not ideal, as you have to hold your head completely still.
I’ll look into a way of circumventing this, but can’t promise anything yet.
For now “Raw Input” is the way to go for comfortable vorpX menu usage.
vorpControl64.dat not running is the cause of your issue. This is needed for GTA V, which also is 64bit.
If you didn’t do so already, for testing purposes please try to disable/uninstall your antivirus program (Comodo and any other av program you might have running). It’s not unlikely that it closes the process.
Please also check whether vorpControl64.dat exists in your vorpX program folder at all. Your av program might have removed it.
If that helps, after the test you may be able to exclude the vorpX program folder from your av-program to not compromise security. Or use another av-program. For example Microsoft Security Essentials (Win7) / Windows Defender (Win8).
Hi and thanks for the replies!
Im not running VoprX in admin. mode now since i cant get gta to run in admin mode so thats a solved issue
The only VorpX related thing that i can find in my task manager is this.
VorpX VR Stereo Driver Control (32bit)
So im guessing that the 64bit component is not running?
Hi Ralf,
I know your pretty busy with GTA 5 at the moment, but was wondering if you ever got the support for Test Drive Unlimited 2 on VorpX working?
every time I load up the game with VorpX loaded in the background the loading screen for TU2 freezes and doesn’t go past the “checking files, please wait” prompt.
Running as admin should not be necessary, but if you run vorpX as admin, you should also run GTA V as admin (and vice versa). vorpX ideally should run with the same rights that the game runs with.
Please also check whether you have a process called “vorpControl64.dat” in your task manager. It may be the case that the 32bit vorpX is running running (hence The Witcher hooks), but the 64bit part that is needed for GTA V is not. Knowing that would at least give a hint what to look for.
Reinstalling GTA V, If this doesn’t work I might as well give up, or reinstall windows. I thought it would be simple i just dont bloody know whats causing it not to work.
