OK. My problems with VorpX 0.7.1:
1. I have 4 monitors (including DK2). My DK2 is set as monitor 2 and is situated on the right side of main one. When I set displaying game only to DK2, it display it to monitor number 3. I had to set displaying on monitor 3 to get rendering on DK2 (which is monitor 2).
2. When I run any of the supported game, in the begining there is no head tracking applying to image, in some cases it works only to move with game cursor. After I press DELL to display VorpX menu, everything works fine. When I close VorpX menu, I have no tracking again. Becasue of this, there is for example no possibility to calibrate IPD when whoe image is moving with my head or I don’t see game menu items, when they are left or right.
3. I have no 3D effect in games. I tried Bioshock Infinite, Mirrors Edge and Skyrim. I see only 2D image disturbed around me. Tracking is working well but I get flat result.
I checked my setting and they are good according to manual. What can be wrong? Thanks for answer Ralf.

Can you make a screenshot of that (using FRAPS for example), ideally with a foreground object before a larger open space, and then send it to support |at| vorpx com with some information about your graphics card, driver version etc.?
Just checked that here on three machines right before release to make sure nothing is broken in Skyrim. It is possible though that other cards/drivers make it impossible for vorpX to find the Z-Buffer.
Thanks in advance.
Before I go, I must also state that I like playing Skyrim in 2D mode (and so, without positional tracking). I need to go play some other games instead of obsessing over Skryim, since I enjoy that mode so much.
The 3D Z-modes don’t seem to work in Skyrim, btw.
I’ve set mouse sensitivity to default, I do the “fov 120” command in the console every tinme, and haven’t messed with the tracking settings.
The forward and backward positional movement is MUCH stronger than the left-right and up-down movement. This causes the positional tracking to feel “wrong.” I am 100% sure of this.
Please make sure that games are set to 1920×1080 for the Rift DK2. It’s more picky in this regard than DK1. Also please double check the display config. The DK2 has to be set to “Portrait”.
Skyrim should also work with the Rift set to ‘Direct to HMD’ BTW. Saving you the Extended-mode hassle. Most other games probably won’t though.
@ jwvanderbeck : Try reinstalling Skyrim. The game is running for such a long time with vorpX on so many machines that it’s relatively safe to say that there isn’t a general issue with this game and vorpX.
You can also try to do a factory reset in the vorpX config app, in case you have messed with settings a lot.
And last but not least: Check whether you are using an Oculus profile in the vorpX config app. This is buggy currently (see the above sticky).
I am sure there is something I am doing wrong. So I figured I would post here. The problem that I am having is this. No matter what I try to start be it Skyrim or Battlefield 4 The game just crashes. With Skyrim I at least get the error stating that my resolution is not supported. I am beating my head against the wall. I have made the DK2 the primary screen (Huge pain in the ass) and yet I keep getting this issue. Please help!
Can´t see the edges: Please check the documentaion (quick reference). vorpX has an feature called EdgePeek specifically to address this.
Positional Tracking: Make sure Geometry 3D is enabled (should be per default).
Big judder: Skyrim is a very taxing game. Outside It usually runs well below the 60fps that you need for fluent VR when Geometry 3D, nothing vorpX can do about that. Try lowering details, deinstalling mods etc. Also Z-Buffer 3D might be worth a try (twice as fast, but ‘less’ 3D). Does not have positional tracking though.
hello everyone, happy Saturday! thanks Ralf for getting a version of vorpx out to us so fast for DK2.
Im having issues trying to close the vorpx windows that pop up when I start up Skyrim, specifically the second window that talks about calibrating head position tracking using [SHIFT][SPACE]. the first window that pops up about the fov 120 tip I can click the ok button, or press enter and that one goes away.
I cant get the second window to disappear at all, ive tried every button on my keyboard, including shift+space, and every other conceivable combination I could think of, even rolling my face across the keyboard didn’t work (that’s my go to default for fixing things).
Skyrim runs fine other than that, just a window in front of my face that floats around everywhere I go, I think I shall name it Fred.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions everyone, have a great day!
That sound really odd. Might make sense to reinstall Skyrim, especially if you use mods. Some mods may conflict with vorpX (especially so called ENB mods and possibly some mods that use the Skyrim Script Extender).
Also please disable your gamepad in Skyrims game options if you have one connected. Skyrim disables the mouse with a gamepad connected which also disables vorpX’s head tracking.
Ok I don’t know where to start, but i’m having major problems in Skyrim!
1) No textures are loading. Everything is black and white.
2) Stereo convergence is way off, leaving 90% of the image doubled
3) If I load an existing save, I have no tracking at all.
4) If I try to start a new game, I get to the character creation part but for some reason can’t actually progress through the creation options.
@ becozier: As said in the original post, not even all games were tested with the current build to get it to you as fast possible. So I can’t provide you a list currently unfortunately. Documentation will be updated over the next weeks. Thanks again for your patience.
Head tracking works with all games that had head tracking with DK1. Just the POSITIONAL tracking is Skyrim only.
@ Victor: Please check the documentation that comes with vorpX. It has a dedicated page with information in regard to the best DK2 configuration.
vorpX 0.7.1 with initial DK2 support is now available. Please note that DK2 support is in early stages. Not all games have been tested and there are most likely bugs.
This was released as fast as possible to give you something to play with, so don’t complain.
If you already own vorpX, your vorpX should automatically update when you start vorpX Control.
If it doesn’t, you can update manually by using your web installer. If you don’t have your installer anymore, send a mail to support |at| vorpx com.
Can we please get a full list of DK2 supported games with 0.7.1? I understand headtracking is only available with Skyrim right now, but I can’t find a full list of DK2 supported games with 0.7.1
Please provide a list and if possible with geometry support or z3d, thanks.
Yes, of course, rotational head tracking will be available in all games that had head tracking with the DK1. It’s a bit better even, since the DK2 seems to have less yaw drift compared to the DK1, probably due to the camera.
Just positional tracking is Skyrim only in the first DK2 release. More games to follow.
Will the new update include Headtracking for the other supported games on the DK2? According to the article on Road to VR only Skyrim will support all features of the DK2 headtracking, but if the gyroscop-based tracking would work with other games it would be great.
