If you use Geometry 3D, you can enhance the FOV with the FOV Enhancement setting from the vorpX in-game menu instead the of the Skyrim console command. This also changes the FOV for the payer model. Might make sense to use a combination of both for the best possible settings.
Hi there,
My vorpx configuration in Skyrim It’s perfect, but hands and weapons looks too much big, and that’s something I can’t fix on vorpx.
In Skyrim, “Fov” command tweaks the world but not the weapons, is there some option I can tweak to make weapons smaller?
Thanks!
A real shadow fix would require that it works with the default (deferred) shadows. Everything that requires changing the shadow mode in multiple .ini files – although certainly OK for enthusiasts – is not enough for a large part of the userbase unfortunately.
The nightsky issue is fixed already since mid November. Given the popularity of Skyrim minor game specific fixes aren’t low priority, but they also aren’t a top priortity, so I do not have a specific timeframe for something like that unfortunately.
“You can (and always could) use vorpX’s integrated FOV control instead of the Skyrim console to change the player mesh FOV alongside with the game FOV.”
Well that’s news to me and something you neglected to mention previously :) – thank you for explaining.
No amount of Skyrim.ini tweaking would fix the shadow issue, ditto for the water / skybox issues. Are such issues something you are prioritizing and working to resolve or should we expect to see these problems for sometime to come?
Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.
You can (and always could) use vorpX’s integrated FOV control instead of the Skyrim console to change the player mesh FOV alongside with the game FOV. Shadows will be dealt with when we find a way to do this without requiring users to fiddle with .ini settings.
Hope this helps.
Hey Ralf,
Any news on fixing the giant player mesh, water and lack of shadows in Skyrim (in real 3D mode of course)? It’s been a while since I asked about it and other drivers have recently made real progress in this area. Again demonstrating that 3D bugs such as these are indeed fixable and should not simply be ignored or features disabled as a quick fix.
All the best,
Cy
What the title states, vorpx simply wont run at all in game. Im running a q9550 with a gtx 660ti and 12gb ram, so more than sufficient hardware. I’ve tried reinstalling vorpx numerous times with restarting my computer. I’ve disabled all programs that may even have the slightest chance to conflict with it (hooks, antiviruses, etc). I’ve followed everything on the basic troubleshooting. I’ve been testing between 4 games: Portal 2, Skyrim, Dirt 3, and ArmA 3. Not one have showed what apparently is a red vorpx overlay, they just start normally. Hitting DEL does nothing whatsoever…
Now does anyone have any clue to even (bare bones) just starting this?
As far as I see it, I’ve wasted $40 on this garbage…
AFAIK you can use the ENB Injector version with vorpX. You can download it from the ENB mod website. This wasn’t tested here, but supposedly it works.
Sweet. I’ll try that.
To enhance the image quality you have various options in vorpX: One is to set the game resolution higher than the Rift’s default 1280×800, which forces the Rift to downsample the output, creating a generally better looking image. Whether, and if, how good this works depends on your graphics driver and settings though.
Oh, didn’t see an option to change the resolution in the settings. I’ll have to check that out.
The game did seem to stutter a bit when turning, is playing on cloned display OK or should I change to a different setting. I thought I heard before that gaming in cloned can cause lag.

vorpX also has various image quality related options on the display tab of the in-game menu. Try enabling ‘Fix Chromatic Aberration’ or ‘Shader Antialising’. Using both together is usually overkill and might cost you a few FPS, so try the one you like better.
Hope that helps.
Unfortunately I see you cannot use an ENB with vorpX, so I disabled mine and got in fine, but I am looking if possible the best settings to configure using the in-game options with Del.
I know each person is different, but maybe there are preferred or general tweaks for everyone that will make the experience better. I have already done 100 FOV in the command screen.
I remember awhile ago when I was using the TriDef free trial there was a way to make the image shaper and more clear with an option. I know the Rift’s 1280×800 resolution is part of the issue, I feel my viewing in-game is blurrier than it should be. Is there a similar option here to make it focus better?
Thanks for any help.
My post was for Skyrim, btw.
I was hoping a beefly modded game would help somewhat making it look gorgeous in the Rift.
Is there any way to make it at least playable for a few hours at a time?
Hi Ralf.. I worked it out.
in ARMA3 I simply hit the “fn” key + back space
this took me from a single view to duel (V.R view) & I can see the VorpX beta symbol between the two lenses when I’m not wearing the Oculus Rift.
Arma3 runs great in V.R !!! Wow
I realize this is still in Beta .. but hey if any v.R enthusiasts want an awesome game try ARMA3. I am yet to tweak the VorpX settings but so far all is great… I have my MacBook Pro running Oculus Rift in BootCamp mode Win.7 64 bit. I have modded my Rift so now all power to the Rift s via USB cable.. this means my XBox controller & mouse are running from a USB hub.
This works well for me.
Can’t wait to test SkyRim..
note: I had a hard time setting this up as I’ going all this onboard a sailboat !! I ahve agenrerator humming away on the upper deck so I’m limited to how long I can play for.. but I cam up & running… I bet I must be the first person to use an Oculus Rift aboard a yacht… in the middle of a river.. I have to paddle my little dingy 1 km up a river to reach my Oculus Rift …
Hi Veritas,
If you didn’t go through the complete trouble shooting sticky above already, please take a look at it. Other than that you could try to reinstall vorpX, ideally after restarting Windows. If absolutely nothing works something has to be seriously wrong. Maybe your installation is corrupt for whatever reason.
Two hints for Skyrim: Check whether there is a d3d9.dll present in your game directory (for example from one of those highly popular ENB mods) and remove/rename it. Regarding the shortcut, plase make sure to use TESV.EXE as the shurtcut target, not the launcher!
Also please write a mail to support |at| vorpx com with some additional info (basic system specs and games you tried) so that we can trouble shoot this further. Thanks.
I purchased VorpX earlier today, and I cannot get it to work with any games. None. No matter what troubleshooting I attempt, nothing works. The tray icon is visible, and I appear to be able to configure settings within it, but it doesn’t hook into ANY game I try. When I start Skyrim, for instance, whether through Steam or a VorpX shortcut, it just displays regularly. I’m not sure what else I am supposed to do. The Oculus works fine, as I can play any natively supported games without any issue.
