    Thanks for the response, Ralf. I’m happy there is an alternative in this situation. What was interesting was when looking at reviews on Steam for both the Vanilla and Remastered versions, players would report on crashing in both version.

    Update:
    – Bioshock 2:Vanilla continues to be a pain in the tuckus (repeatedly crashing at random times).
    – I downloaded Bioshock 2 Remastered, plain in desktop first, then applied the default VorpX profile. The game wouldn’t reliably hook, so I had to use ‘Hook Helper’ to get the game to boot up.

    Results of playing the Remastered game so far:
    – One one crash in 3 hours of playing (yay!).
    – The graphics are not as good as the vanilla version, and the scale is a bit off (my weapons are larger and I feel like I’m short in the game. I did increase my height via VorpX.
    – Going to the next level in the game causes me to redo DirectVR (which can take a couple of times).

    I do miss the cleaner graphics and more accurate scale of my character in the Vanilla version, but at least the game reliably operates, for myself, in the Remastered version.

    If anybody does have any hints on how I can make the Vanilla version work more reliably, please let me know.

    vorpX does work, assuming some basic steps are being followed (my thought process only):
    – After downloading a game, make sure to play the game a little first WITHOUT vopX (something about getting all files generated by playing the game).
    – Start vorpX, then open ‘Configure vorpX’; assign a profile to your desired game; make sure to ‘Apply’ or ‘Apply and Close’.
    – Start Steam VR
    – Start the game (usually get a notice on the monitor about ‘the game will be playing on your HMD as well’.
    – The game should show up in your HMD (how long it takes varies by game).

    Once the game shows up in your HMD does not necessarily mean you are now playing in perfect VR. Some vorpX configuration and game configuration may be required to get a good experience (within the ‘Configuer vorpX’ option are multiple help sections to get you started; the forums can also be extremely useful).

    Once you are done with vorpX, make sure to ‘turn off’ vorpX before playing other games that you’ve modded without vorpX (lie your Alien Isolation game).

    I hope this helps, and best of luck to you.

    @haints,

    I understand what you are saying about Titanfall 2, as I had the same experience for the first hour+ I was playing with it.
    I wish I could recall what is was I changed in the vorpX menu, but something I changed all of a sudden made the 3D ‘come alive’ for myself, so I believe the Titanfall 2 vorpX profile can give a good VR-type experience.

    I’m experiencing a similar 2D/lack of depth issue on a game called Outlast.

    For The Evil Within 2, there’s a single Cloud profile based version 18.2.4 vorpX software. Is this the one to use?

    @ParadiseDecay,

    That is wonderful news on how VorpX has helped somebody experience VR in a way not achievable by other means, and congratulations to yourself for helping to make this happen. That must be a wonderful feeling!

    Perhaps your post might reach a bigger audience if placed in Reddit under the Valve Index or Oculus Rift pages. I can’t say I’ve noticed hate mail of any significance in these forums (it seems anybody posting here is in search of help and not harassment).

    I myself am a fan of your YouTube video.
    Great job on being a fine VR ambassador to the masses.

    @Ralf,
    Thank you for the response. You were right, I did not have to tweak any further settings. It was probably a leftover thought from all the tweaking I was doing prior to doing that ‘Direct VR Scan’.
    I do appreciate the explanation on how HL2 is a unique case.
    Thank you for such an amazing software program.

    @NightMare-_-,

    Thanks for the tip.
    A method that seems to work for me for Half-Life 2 is to start voprX 1st, plug in the headset 2nd, start Steam 3rd, and then start the game 4th.
    This is strange in that any other game I’m trying to vorpX, I: start Steam 1st, plug in the headset 2nd, start vorpX 3rd, start Steam VR 4th, and then start the game.
    Now I can finally see Half-Life 2 in the HMD. Unfortunately, in Full VR mode the image was shifting too much and I could not see 360 degrees, but doing some ‘Direct VR Scan’ (as hinted by vorpX) solved both of those issues, and now the image is steady and I can look in all directions without feeling like everything is moving with me.
    Now to tweak some settings.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks so much for the link, and the information on the cloud profile.
    I didn’t notice any information as to how the 1st Person Mod is accomplished, but did notice a RE6 Ultimate Trainer Mod, on Nexus Mods, which seems to have a 1st person POV enabler.

    @andiferner,

    I’ve been having the same issues as you.
    If I install the RE2 Framework files and the dinput8.dll for RE2 (both gotten off the github page), I can get the 1st person mod to work AS LONG AS voprX and SteamVR are OFF.
    As soon as voprX/Steam VR are active, the 1st person mod can no longer be enabled for myself.

    vorpX works well without the 1st person mod, but the 1st person mod with voprX is really the only reason I want to play it.

    Ehhhh,

    Sorry for the defeatist attitude back there. If any alternative method comes up, I’ll try it (hopefully, I’ll not have to uninstall and reinstall).

    @luka2099,

    Tried your suggestion, and nothing happened.
    I couldn’t turn on the 1st person mod at all (using the INS button) until I had the RE2 Framework files installed along with the dll file, and that was only with vorpX and Steam VR off.

    I do appreciate your patience and help with this, but I’m done with trying to make the 1st person mod work in vorpX. After installing/re-installing the game 4 times now, and trying what I think is every variation on installing the files to get the mod to work, there’s just no headway being made.

    On the bright side, vorpX plays RE2 fine without the 1st person mod.

    Thank you again for your all of your help.

    Minor Update:

    I finally realized the github page where I got access to the RE2.zip file (the dinput8.dll file), also has the latest RE2 Framework files (e.g., the github link had a ‘build_vs2019.bat’, whereas the Nexus Mods/Mod DB link had a ‘install_vs2017.bat’).

    Unfortunately, deleting the Nexus Mod files and replacing them with the github files did NOT resolve the issue (e.g., the 1st person mod only works when voprX/Steam VR is off).

    At this stage, the only option left I can think of is to uninstall/reinstall everything and see if it works (I’ve done this twice so far, and it hasn’t helped yet, so I’ve got low confidence on it working this time).

    Nothing for you to be sorry about. I appreciate your kindness in responding to me.
    The latest version of frameworks is what I discovered on the NexusMod website (and seems to be the same file on the Mod DB website):
    RE2 Mod Framework master (includes first-person mod)-11-1-0-0-1549445984.zip
    This file had an upload date of Feb 2019.

    Tried screwing with it some more, and unfortunately nothing has changed.
    The game plays fine without vorpX/Steam VR active.
    I’m using the default voprX profile for Half Life 2.
    Upon starting the game with vorpX, the game audio seems to be fine, but both the monitor and Valve Index HMD are black (the monitor has some specific voprX messages).
    I’ve gone back into the game and adjusted from a 16:9 to a 4:3, but getting back in with vorpX still leaves with a black screen on both the HMD and monitor.
