Just finished Mirrors Edge #1 again in preparation for Frostbite G3D (and thus ME Catalyst in real 3D!), with the new Motion Smoothing support it feels soo much better than before.

Only issue I encountered was that having DirectVR cache enabled caused FOV scan to fail but disabling it fixed it.

    RE: Frostbite G3D

Awesome! I actually played through Mirrors Edge Catalyst in “Fake 3D” not too long ago and it was incredibly fun, probably going to have to do it again then.

There isn’t a setting for ultrawide resolutions, it was just fixed that now the FOV scales correctly. The workaround that was possible before has been disabled now.

I am running a 3440×1440 monitor and so I have messed around with basically all resolutions and aspect ratios reasonably possible in this situation and nothing resulted in a usable FOV.

I thought I’d revive the thread with some new info:

    1. There are now two softwares that can change the FOV: An FOV changer on NexusMods (needs a special Frostbite modding software) and a cinematic camera utility. (See below for links)

    2. 21:9 resolutions with the default max 90 degree FOV have exactly the perfect FOV for VR. I use this (at my monitor’s 3440×1440) as I don’t want to install some random DLL or software.

    3. I use the profile from Battlefield 1 (closest Frostbite version) with Z-Normal @ 3.0 Strength and 0.07 Weight.

Mod Links (WARNING: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK):

FOV setting increaser (up to 120): https://www.nexusmods.com/mirrorsedgecatalyst/mods/2

    Needs Frosty Tool Suite: https://github.com/GalaxyEham/FrostyToolSuite/wiki

Cinetools, cinematic camera utility that can also change FOV: http://cinetools.xyz/games/

That was what I meant by “autoconfig”, I tried both settings.

I had it enabled before and disabled it to prevent it from overriding my resolution setting.

hi if u found a proper resolution try to set the ini.files of bishock infinite to read only….

I think you are onto something… After manually setting the resolution to 2240×1680 it suddenly worked!

However, I am still not able to reliably reproduce it.

Making the config read only doesn’t work as something is making it writable again, possibly either VorpX or the game itself.

Disabling VorpX’s autoconfig options for the game made it keep the resolution over restarts but it still didn’t work again.

At this point I suspect some sort of cache in the video driver (Nvidia/980ti) is messing with it, I had to fight this problem for weeks now while I am playing through the game and if I find something I’ll post it here.

Posting this in case anyone with this issue finds this thread:

FYI Windows Defender may have still removed/broken it even though you told it to ignore it after it was detected (at least that was the case for me).

If you are experiencing any issues check the C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX folder if vorpControl.exe is still there and if it isn’t just run the web installer again, the license will remain valid.

Again, make sure the Windows Defender malware definitions are up to date so it doesn’t happen again.

Updates are also delivered using an unencrypted connection.

(I can’t edit my post anymore so I am posting this as a reply)
