ParticipantThank you for all your help @Boblekobold,
I have changed the TextureStreamingMemoryLimit to 128.000000 but sadly, I still get crashes every 15 minutes or so, specially when I access machines (upgrades, ammo, health packs, etc.) and also when manually saving; from Windows 10 and 11 too.
I am using a Quest 2 with a 12 GB AMD Radeon RX 6700 XST
You said “Did you try the virtual monitor tip”; Can you please tell me how to do it in a more detailed way and which resolutions should I try ? I don’t know what is it or where to find it and nor how to set it…
I also was unable to find where that Tesselation setting is set.
Thank you again !

ParticipantHello everybody,
I have started a new thread here https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/doom-internet-multiplayer-with-vorpx/#post-219845, in order to update possible progress on this and specially asking if there is a change to play doom in multiplayer tools like Zandronum or Odamex…
Regards !

ParticipantHello,
Using TextureStreamingMemoryLimit=0.000000 and TextureStreamingDistanceLimit=800000.000000 is perfect for me. I don’t seem to have crashes anymore ! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU XD
I am curious about how did you get to test that specific change ? Had you some documentation about Bioshock 2 or was it just trial and error ?
I want to point at some remarkable aspects too:
– It works only in Windows 10, not in Windows 11 where I still get crashes (Dual boot saves the day)…
– I have just played the whole Bioshock 1 suffering lots of crashes on the way but I have finished it; It also happened that in Windows 10 I almost had no crashes at all (a few), but in Windows 11 it was almost non playable because of the amount of crashes… One significant point in BS1 was that after loading a saved game I had to press ctrl alt supr and after that, esc, to be able to view the game back, while in Windows 10 it never happened…
Regards,
Roger

Participantupdate 17/5/24:
Finally it seems that it does not crash in Windows 10 with this configuration:
-Without installing my AMD RTX specific software
– Preliminary steps:
– Start the game without vorpx and adjust all settings as you require
– close the game and secure bioshock.ini and user.ini to prevempt changes: even if you set vorpx to not change the game settings, it CHANGES the user.ini every time the game crashes… To fix it I had to set both files to read only AND change permissions to disable inheritance AND allow ONLY my user to have permissions, and not SYSTEM or any other user.– In VORPX using steam vr
– In the Oculus software start OculusLink wirelessly and connect but do not show the windows desktop.
– My Virtual desktop streamer software in windows is shut down.
– Start Steam and SteamVR: In the Quest 2 should appear the SteamVR environment.
– From SteamVR show the Windows Desktop and start the game: once the last save is loaded press Alt+L as usual.… And for the time being, it is not crashing anymore… for the time being, I repeat. This is bloodily complex, but I think this is the way X-D.
Before doing this, It still crashed from time to time, and also in some events like when you try to use the machine in the game called “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Epue9X8bpc” ups not that one, sorry… just “power to the people”.
I hope it helps…

ParticipantHello,
I think I’ve got it !
After applying your settings, the crashes were still happening, but after changing vorpx to SteamVR there is no error at all, apart from the minor issue about having to press ctrl+alt+del and esc after the initial load for the latest savegame.
So, my settings are the ones mentioned from @Boblekobold except my own resolution, AND use this sequential steps:
– IN VORPX, USE STEAMVR. Launch Vorpx
-Connect the quest 2 to the pc with Virtual Desktop (the one in the oculus store, not the one from Steam) using VDXR.
Launch the game: Vorpx will attach to it and will launch SteamVR.
-After the load for your previous saved game, the screen will freeze: press ctrl alt del, and next, ESC. DONE!
* Don’t forget to run alt-l to auto adjust visual settings.
THANKS for all your help, I hope it will be useful to other people too…

ParticipantHello, thanks for your answer.
You said “Don’t Optimize game settings”… Do you mean to turn off “change game settings” in vorpx ?
You said “I play with 3840×2880″… I suppose it depends on your monitor right ?, mine is up to 1920×1200
You said “G3D (Shadow no S3D)”… Do you mean “Geometry” in 3d reconstruction options ? What is s3d? I cannot see it.
And yes, I have tried oculus runtime. And virtual desktop’s vxd, and SteamVR.
Thanks again

ParticipantHello,
Can someone tell me how to use vorpx desktop viewer with my quest 2?
I know that you have to left click on the tray icon and start it, but first I suppose that the quest has to be connected to the computer via cable or wifi and using oculus or virtual desktop (the oculus one),… but if the oculus already has a desktop view and also the oculus virtual desktop, what is the use of the vorpx desktop viewer ?
Please clarify it because I am very confused about it, thank you.

ParticipantPlease don’t reply here, instead use the support forum thread, thanks:

ParticipantUps ! Working… Setting vorpX to SteamVR in the config app did the trick ! And also don’t forget to disable air link.
I see that in this forum the answers are obtained by oneself xd

ParticipantFinally ! I succeeded; The instructions, if anybody is interested are as follows:
– Download dgVoodoo2_81_3 from here: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/ReadmeGeneral/ (*)
* Note: make sure you use http:// at the url, because in many browsers I have to change it from https to http, because it changes automatically for some unknown reason. Also, it’s not related to VR but those instructions are also necessary to run this program on Windows 10:
Before you run the game, create a preparebillar.cmd file with the following lines and run it as administrator:
cd c:
cd “C:\Program Files (x86)\CANAL+\CANAL+ CLASSIC BILLAR”
cd Divers
del FS_Device
del FS_Driver
del FS_Mode
pauseContinuing with the VR stuff, now copy the following files (without including its folders) from the folder you had decompressed dgVodoo, to the folder where the main executable for the game is installed, for example in “C:\Program Files (x86)\CANAL+\CANAL+ CLASSIC BILLAR\CCBillard.exe”:
dgVoodooCpl.exe
All files inside the “MS\x86” folder: D3D8.dll, D3D9.dll, D3DImm.dll, DDraw.dll
All files inside the “3Dfx\x86” folder: Glide.dll, Glide2x.dll, Glide3x.dllNext, open the configure Vorpx dialog and download the cloud profile named “Aliens vs. Predator 2 (DGVoodoo2) – Z3D” and change its executable to point to CCBillard.exe and rename its local profile to “Canal + Classic Billar” and apply the changes.
Run the preparebillar.cmd as administrator. Finally, open your VR Headset e.g. Quest 2, connect to link, show the desktop and run the program CCBillard.exe as administrator from its folder (the desktop shortcut method does not seem to be working): A message will appear with a warning that a third party DLL (from dgVoodooCpl) has been detected; minimize all temporarily, find again that message and click on accept; Then return to the game.
When you accept from inside the game the initial proposed resolution, it should then attach to vorpx and launch it in VR.
Tips: you can also use RivaTunerStatisticsServer that comes with MSI Afterburner to show the api level used by the game, that should display Directx 11 if dgVoodooCpl.exe is working properly.
