    Ralf,

Is it possible to support Open Morrowind? I hear performance is much better.

    https://openmw.org/en/

I play regular Morrowind in cinema mode, Z-buffer/MGE-X, it took a good bit of tweaking but it runs decent.

I had that too initially, but also I had the “Oblivion Reloaded” mod–which screws up many things. Watch for overhaul and texture mods, go slowly. I use a character overhaul, which plays nicely. The stutter remover and memory patches on nexus mods are worth a try as well, everything for me is so smooth now.

Grats on getting it running with wmr! More people have been asking about wmr compatability with Vorpx.

Also, there is a mod, “FOV Modifier”, that will reset FOV after npc dialogs. The only problem is that when you look around the view warps a bit. I uninstalled because of this, but thought if this mod can do it surely, maybe in an update, Vorpx could accomplish this as well.

Ralf, the fps drop is atypical, I don’t know why it happens. Generally fps is good, just reporting it as an infrequent occurrence.

Alegse, I find FO3 much more sensitive to mods than FONV, be careful. When I installed hires textures it started crashing, the optimized textures are fine. Also, for some reason the beauty overhaul for faces caused my Directvr scans to fail on headtracking. I suggest the memory patch, stutter remover, FOSE as a minimum. Also view distances lower, shadows off.

I tried Z-buffer at 2880×2160, while I can appreciate the performance (not as good as you but 80-90ish fps), it gave me a headache as it felt everything was flat. I switched back to g3d, 1800×1440, which wasn’t bad-outside whiterun near mountains at night, about 66-80ish fps, and no eye-strain.

Phoenix: I don’t think you can even set normal AA in Nvidia control panel for Skyrim, for me the Antialiasing-Setting is greyed out, which is where I set it for Oblivion. Not sure why. The transparency AA is available, which seems to help with flora.

I will have to try your z-buffer settings sometime, though when I’ve switched in the past things look less real/solid.

Ralf: Another plug for Oblivion, hope you keep feeding this game love..it’s fantastic! If you ever fix the FOV issue for good, be eternally grateful.

Phoenix: I was conflating my Oblivion settings, where it is simply ‘Antialiasing-setting’. I have FXAA off, so it will pick the MSAA. The reason I set it there is that in-game video options have HDR and Antialiasing as mutually exclusive. I found a tweak guide suggesting using the control panel. To me, the difference is striking–for example you can go to Chorral (or any town), look at a wooden beam on a house and see ugly stair steps without AA, and smooth beauty with! I have fluidsync on and mostly am 45/45, only stuttering on an odd bug when FOV is reset sometimes.

Ralf, when I tried the auto 1440p resolution the .ini showed something like 1576×1440, regardless that and the 1680p resolution
made my UI wonky so inventory item pop up info windows were unreadable (SkyUI), or cutoff (no mod).

Also, Oblivion works great with the new update (only needing FOV resets after npc dialogs). It plays smoother than Skyrim, and hand models are normal.

Striker, I would suggest configuring your custom resolution and overriding Vorpx making those choices, with a gtx 1080 I comfortably run 1920×1440. I turn shadows off for performance, and run 4x MSAA (in nvidia control panel, not in .ini)..transparency multisampling too (for flora flickering). You can play with lighting, hdr can look quite good…also look for camera mods, disable kill animations–they will make you queasy. It looked like crap at first to me, but tweaking (if you’re patient) should produce some acceptable gameplay for you.

How is the head tracking? I didn’t see that listed in the support notes, any head swim when you look back and forth?

Trying the 4GB memory patch, the stutter remover, and OBSE..for now. So far it works, though sometimes after the FOV changes and I use the Alt-V fix, my FPS drops by about half.
