I had the same question about which one is the best profile. Right now when doing a game search for black mesa, it more than 2 dozen profiles, and 5 of them say “Black Mesa: Source”. (a good dozen of them say Half life 2 / portal / black mesa).
So out of the 5 ones that say Source, which one is recommended?
vorpX, ramms1989, nemphis, rudakoff, or AlabamaMan? I guess vorpX but just want to confirm.SpixeParticipantThanks for the reply Ralph!
Unfortunately, I already tried that – increasing both ingame resolution and the VorpX resolution. It only had a very minor impact on resolution, but for the most it didn’t change much, resolution while in VR mode was still grainy and pretty bad.
I tried several tips in the Essential Hints guide as well. I didn’t add any custom resolutions yet though. I’ll give it a shot. What resolution would you recommend for this game? My PC can handle most of the ones available to select, as I was trying different ones to see if it helped (sadly it didn’t), so I didn’t think it was a problem, but I’ll try.
Again thanks for the help
SpixeParticipantI came here also to get help for Titanfall 2. I was trying to get RE2 to play using VorpX, and it took a lot of work over several days but I finally got it (only hooked “sometimes”) and the results were terrible. I eventually gave up. I read one of the official threads recommending Titanfall 2 as one of the best VorpX games. So I got the game just to use with VorpX.
It looks TERRIBLE. I couldn’t stand it for more than 30 seconds. It hooks fine “sometimes”, but the imagine is very low res and grainy, the 3d is… I dunno, just really strange, a bit distorted. It’s also very dark (it was before I went in and made the settings very bright, but I think it wasn’t really natural). So I think sometimes gotta be wrong. First Resident Evil 2, and now this which is supposed to be great.
What am I missing? I used the default VorpX profile for both btw.
Edit: Just some specs. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X. Windows 10 Ent. 16GB Ram. RTX 2080SUPER. Valve Index. Up till now, I can run everything in full settings at 4k, and all VR games (native) at full res with high frame rates (currently playing Alyx at highest settings).
SpixeParticipantI’ve been looking forever for a DMC VR addition and you are the only one who seems to have gotten that far. So first and foremost, thanks for your work. Would you by chance happen to have any working update to this? I’d love to play in VR, but as it stands, with the 2 profiles you mentioned, neither is truly playable for long term (well, 1, but without 3d, it don’t think it can really be considered VR). Anyway, thanks again, looking forward to your reply!
SpixeParticipantThat’s exactly what happens to me. Well, there error message at least. I don’t get as far as the message that you got (“This game has an….”). Mine just shows a black box for about 5 seconds then shuts down. So you got a couple seconds longer than me, ha.
SpixeParticipantDid all that you said Ralf, only essentials running, disabled defender and firewall, don’t even have a 3rd party antivirus program. Still no luck.
Dellrifter22, I’ve actually already been playing RE7 a bit, have a couple hours into it, it’s work 100% without vorpx, never any crashes or glitches. I haven’t tweaked FOV or resolution, it’s all default game settings. The game ONLY crashes when running vorpx, after it says “attaching to re7”, a second later, the game window (which was only a black window in the first place) disappears.
Seems I’m SOL in this case and have to play non-VR. Sucks, I was REALLY looking forward to this kickass game in VR, but no worries, still good without it, and I’m sure I’ll find some other games to use vorpx with eventually. Thanks for all the helps guys, very much appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot with me.
SpixeParticipantIs it possible some settings in the game would prevent attaching? Such as resolution, graphic settings, etc? If so, are there recommended settings?
SpixeParticipantI have this same problem. I know this post is over a year ago, but I don’t suppose you got it working, and if so, tell us how?
