Got it. Had Geometry on. Switched to Z.
Thick8ParticipantWell it came back to me once I stared at the VorpX in-game menu for a while. I set the in-game resolution to 2880×1600, 1:1 pixel mapping, and 1x zoom. I will have to play around with the other settings. I also found the in-game FOV slider as well.
The good news is after an hour my wife is hooked on ESO. yeah! We couldn’t see each other in the game. Saw a bunch of other people and added each other as friends, joined a group, and are able to chat in-game so I imagine we will figure it out. If Anyone has any insight…Thick8ParticipantHi Guys!
I only had VorpX for a short time before SkyrimVR dropped. Cool to see it’s still going strong. Wasn’t sure if I was going to need it again as there seemed to be direct VR versions or comparable replacements for the limited number of games I play.
So my wife has been watching me play Skyrim for some time now. A few weeks ago she mentioned how it would be cool to play a game together like we used to. So I built her a machine and bought 2 copies of ESO.
I’m having some difficulty getting the view right. I can’t find an in-game FOV setting and I’ve kind of forgotten how to set up VorpX. Does someone have a preconfigured full VR ESO profile I can use? What should I set my in game resolution to? I tried it out on the monitor at 4K on ultra settings and stayed over 70 FPS.
Any help would be appreciated. My wife’s copy should be done downloading in 51 minutes…
Thanks.
Oops, almost forgot. I’m using a Samsung Odyssey headset.Thick8ParticipantTo keep things simple I use the default Bethesda profile path as the profile path that can be selected in MO paths setting. So the path changes (for me) from %BASE_DIR%/profiles to C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Skyrim
Thick8ParticipantI copied the Skyrim profile into a new VorpX profile using SKSE as the game EXE. Then I start the SKSE through MO2. All settings and mods load up as expected. I use the STEP:extended mod list with a few extra mods installed. Stioll in the process of swapping out the 4K mod for ones that are a little more VR friendly. Been too busy playing DCS and Elite Dangerous to finish setting up Skyrim.
Thick8ParticipantI don’t select generic, I select Vive. You can set up room scale in the Windows cliff house if you want room scale. Then just turn off the boundary lines from the left side of the mixed reality screen.
To fix the floor height in the Steam house click on one of the programs in the middle pane and select details. Then open the steam settings and follow the directions to set the floor height.
Yes the lights must be on and you can’t be looking at a blank wall. I face away from my desk to where I have curtains and pictures hanging on the wall. I will probably put up a ceiling border as well as I loose tracking when looking strait up.Thick8ParticipantI’m assuming you also have the Rift. Do you have all the pertinent programs running that I listed above. You may even Need Revive running as well.
Thick8ParticipantWhat headset do you have? Have you started the appropriate VR programs so that your game will run in VR?
Thick8ParticipantIt all works for me.
Start the WindowsVR app, then the SteamVR app, then OculusVR, then VorpX. So far I’ve tried DCS, HL2, Skyrim, and SkyrimSE. So far everything has worked. The Virtual gaming theater works as well. I run the VR programs as administrator so that might be making the difference if you are not.
How to run programs as administrator:
1. right click on the program icon.
2. Left click on the “compatibility” tab.
3. Left click on the “run as administrator” box.
Do this for all 3 VR managers as well as VorpX.
This will insure that the program will run in administrator mode each time you use it.Thick8ParticipantThank you. I spent about 5 hours yesterday getting my STEP install of Skyrim working. Ther have been a couple of conflicts but I’m about a 75% done getting 247 MODS working in VR. My SkyrimSE install is heavily modded as well. I will be swapping out all of my 4K texture mods for a little more FPS versions this weekend but it looks awesome in VR. Will let you know how both endeavors work out.
Thick8ParticipantHi Ralf. VorpX rocks. Where is the cloud?
Thick8ParticipantIn Non DirectVR titles, not having a proper Y lock is really disorienting (the built in one, doesn’t work when I move my head up and down) but I’ve seen a few people who modified those old ball mice and took out the Y axis from them, resulting in a great experience
What a good idea. I use a trackball mouse and have 3 of them NIB. Time to modify the one I currently use for VR.
Thick8ParticipantIf you want to further increase performance you can add a custom resolution to your SkyrimPrefs.ini like 1080×1200 or 1296×1440. These match your HMD screen ratios without waste. Also a good idea to add them to your custom resolutions list in Nvidia Control panel, and test if they will pass on your TV first.
So would I be better served by using my HMD resolution? I have an Odyssey so would I use a resolution of 1440×1600 (one screen) or 2880×1600 (two screens)?
Thick8ParticipantGot the Odyssey on Monday. The overall clarity is great compared to the Oculus or Vive. Nice big clear sweet spot as well. The SteamVR drivers are supposed to drop on Wednesday. I’ll let you know if Vorpx works.
Thick8ParticipantSo glad to hear this. My Odyssey should ship Monday. Can’t wait…
