Jul 24, 2020 at 2:30am in reply to: Head Tracking breaks when using a controller in some games #196145
RalfKeymasterSome games don’t allow mouse and gamepad to be used at the same time. Whenever vorpX has to emulate a mouse for head tracking in such a game, you will encounter issues like the ones you experience. You have three options two deal with such cases:
1. Play with keyboard/mouse input instead of using a gamepad
2. Play with your VR controllers in keyboard/mouse emulation mode.
3. Use the gamepad override (Input page of the vorpX menu) to emulate mouse and keyboard with your gamepad.
Both the VR controller mapping and the gamepad override are freely configurable.
RalfKeymasterCopypasta from the pinned FAQ post on top of this sub forum:
I bought vorpX before but don’t have the web installer anymore.
Please request a new download link here.
RalfKeymasterVR controllers can be used to emulate either mouse and keyboard or an X-Box game pad. This does apply to common PC VR controllers (Oculus Touch, Vive Wands, Index controllers, WMR controllers).
RalfKeymasterThe latest nVidia driver prevents vorpX from attaching to the game. The next vorpX version will have a workaround for the issue. Until then rolling back to 445.87 solves the issue.
Please ignore the message you might get from the game about updating the driver to a newer version.
RalfKeymasterYour issue 100% has not been caused by vorpX, this is just a conincidence. There is no way how vorpX could potentially affect your VR camera controls in any native VR app. It doesn’t do anything unless it is running, let alone after you uninstalled it.
RalfKeymastervorpX doesn’t do anything while it is not running. It cannot have caused any changes to your VR camara controls within the Oculus software or any other native VR application.
RalfKeymasterHow large the world scale appears depends on the 3D-Strength (i.e. how far your virtual ‘eyes’ are apart). Typically in G3D games base settings are dialed in so that the default of 1.0 provides realistic scale. However, if you believe that for you the scale might be off, you can adjust it with the ‘3D-Strength/Scale’ option.
You can be certain though that per default the scale is *very* close to correct in these two games.
RalfKeymasterI don’t have more suggestions than above, sorry. So far BitDefender users could always resolve their problems by disabling this feature. Please send a mail to support at vorpx com if you can’t resolve the problem.
BTW: I understand that you consider this AV software crucial for yourself, but given its invasiveness you might want to consider Windows Defender as an alternative. There really is not much of a reason for third party AV on Windows 10.
RalfKeymasterDefinitely vorpControl.exe and vorpControl64.dat. I’m not sure whether that will suffice though, might also be necessary to exlude the .exe files of the games you want to play. Probably safer to disable this feature entirely, it will cause problems with any program that hooks into games like vorpX. Whoever called this ‘advanced’ clearly has a sense for irony.
RalfKeymasterIf the image looks blurry, run games at a higher resolution (while keeping an eye on performance). With higher resolutions you get a sharper image.
You might whant to add additional resolutions to your PC that it can not display normally. More details on the matter, including a step-by-step guide and a list of resolutions to add, in the ‘Custom Resolutions’ section of the vorpX help.
RalfKeymasterDisabling the so called ‘Advanced Threat Protection’ in your AV software should do the trick. Contrary to its name it rather unadvanced flatout blocks Windows functions that are used by programs like vorpX to hook into games.
BTW: Third party AV software isn’t really crucial on Windows 10. It’s built-in Defender is just as good wthout being as invasive as some third party AV programs.
Jul 17, 2020 at 1:20pm in reply to: I keep having to reinstall Windows any way to save activation code? #196058
RalfKeymasterAfter a Windows reinstall you will likely need a new key. Usually the request code changes for a new Windows installation.
RalfKeymasterStill didn‘t check it, sorry. The original plan for an update this week didn‘t quite pan out, but I‘m confident to get it done next week.
From what I heard so far the game seems to work similarly to F1 2019. If that is true, you can expect an official profile with the same features, i.e. G3D/Z3D including a scalable 3D HUD.
RalfKeymasterIf vorpX shows a conflict warning, please follow the instructions in the error message and remove the DLL mentioned in the message. These DLLs do not belong in a game folder, they typically are override DLLs placed there by some mod/other program that hooks into games.
In regard to general hooking issues please check the pinned trouble shoot post on top of this sub forum. It pretty much has all relevant information regarding issues like that.
RalfKeymasterOK, the very basics are working (game in 2D in the headset), and there also *might* be a way to circumvent the exit with anything more, but checking that will cost at least a day. Chances are 50:50 at his point, I’ll take a closer look sometime next week.
