The problem I have with trying to remap or turning off override xbox gamepad is that the game then thinks my gamepad is a keyboard and I lose some abilities. namely analogue controls. Some games are ok with this but some such as Assassin’s Creed doesn’t like this at all and becomes impossible to play.
I just want native xbox controller in the game to function

I was one of those people who had Dying Light on my wishlist for geo3D support for forever.
Techland however secretly added VR support in one of the recent patches. I feel like it was stealth released cause they don’t want to “officially” support it.
But there’s a tweak you can make in one of the config files that will enable VR and it works amazingly well. Probably my favorite VR experience next to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
It doesn’t have motion/touch support but in terms of “presence” or scale, it basically looks as good as any native VR game or the best possible geo3D vorpx game.
I am aware that this same tweak was viable around the time the rift DK2’s were released but broke when CV1 came out. However this recent update added it back in and can be played on the cv1
Whats the tweak? I tried the game quite a while back with VorpX and it was a horrid experience, mostly the FOV but interesting they made VR support, maybe I can get back into it as I never really made it far beyond the tutorial mission

My Oculus came only with the Xbox one controller. In the VorpX menu, I see Oculus controller in the menu but there’s nothing there. How would I turn this off?
Jul 8, 2018 at 10:28pm in reply to: Gamepad unusable with VorpX. Switches to keyboard controls #173847xrc6ParticipantJust to update. I did a complete reformat of Windows 10. downloaded all updated drivers, installed Oculus, Steam, Vorpx and left everything at default.
I started AC: Origins and my gamepad still does not function as a gamepad. I double checked the vorpx settings and gamepad over ride is set to off. I don’t have anything else installed.
Issue perisists using both Xbox One gamepad or Steam Controller with xbox setup. The game still thinks I only have kb/mouse. The only difference I notice now is that the left analogue stick rotates the camera but all the other buttons basically act as various kb keys. For example pressing UP directional key brought up the Vorpx mini screen or whatever it’s called.
GTA 5 is effected the same but I did find that Ghost of a tale works fine with the gamepad. So it’s not all games but apparently certain ones or only certain ones are not effected.
As before, shutting down vorpX then the game works fine. So I’m pretty confident now that something in vorpx is the only cause. I just don’t know what is over riding it or what else to try.

Changing any of the options does nothing. It’s as if the game can’t even recognize there’s a controller attached. When Vorpx isn’t running, the game controller works fine. I can only assume vorpx is still over riding somehow or maybe is trying to use the Touch Controllers despite that I don’t have any.
In GTA 5, I think it was set automatically to partial but didn’t work when turning it off. I know with GTA 5, one of the options allows me to have the buttons work just as an Xbox gamepad but one or both of the thumbticks didn’t function at all but I do know that over ride off used to work just fine.
So if it’s not vorpx, then I wonder if a driver is causing some kind of issue when vorpx is running? Like maybe xbox driver or steam controller driver?
By full factory reset, if you mean vorpx then I already have done that, it’s also updated at least once since I first had this issue. If you mean Windows itself, then I’ll do whatever you suggest.

It used to a couple of versions back but hasn’t since. I think the version where you first made all the settings automatic, is when I had issues with it, I haven’t used it much till recently hoping it would work itself out.
Do you have any recommendations. On that option screen I tried turning everything off but can’t seem to get my gamepad to function as it should, the game thinks I just have a keyboard.
xrc6ParticipantIn general vorpX works with every headset that supports either the Oculus runtime or Steam VR. Pimax 4K and Windows MR are known to work fine and are used by quite a few users.
Can’t say much about the Pimax 8k yet. 200 degrees are technically impossible with a single “camera” as used in current “flat game” rendering though. The theoretical maximum is 180, the more reasonable max. FOV you should assume with vorpX is 140-150, provided games allow FOVs that high.
The maximum resolution is only limited by your PCs performance, that has always been the case with vorpX.
Maybe the virtual screen mode can be zoomed in enough to cover most of the peripheral? I’m a backer so I’m supposed to be getting one within the next couple of months or so, will be interesting to see how the Pimax 8k will upscale VorpX enabled games. I’m happy enough to know that it’s possible that it may function at all since I don’t play too many actual VR games anyway.
The pimax has real good user ratings as far i can read from the internet, but i fear that headtracking and controllers would not be good as with the vive/oculus.
I know it uses the Vive 2.0 tracking system so it should be virtually the same. The controllers are still in design but they are knuckle based with sensors for each finger so you can open hand but I’m sure the game has to support it first. Or you can of course just use the Vive wands instead but I don’t think they are sold separately which is a shame.
Controllers won’t release until end of year anyway. I don’t even have the Touch controllers for my Rift so I’m hoping I can get by somehow without them.xrc6ParticipantI was considering recently getting FC 5 if VOrpx worked for it which is why I logged in today. I’ve noticed Ralph only works around the release of big titles when he knows he can make more sales. Otherwise, he just goes silent.
I imagine coding something all by yourself is pretty tedious if not challenging and I’m sure he has other things in life he enjoys doing as well. All we can do is be patient. There used to be some kind of setting for creating your own profile but you have to ask for a key of some sort? I’m guessing it’s something that’s complex to do but I don’t see that option anymore
There’s a dishonored 2 profile in cloud profiles by Rising-Evil but doesn’t work for me. I’m not sure how he went about creating one.

All I get is a “sorry it’s taking longer than usual” message and never changes. On my monitor it’s just frame by frame…even the loading screen is way longer than normal, I’m talking like 15 minutes or so and even the CG movie like intro is frame by frame. So if it is a dunovo issue, I’d think everyone would have the same problem.xrc6ParticipantOf all the games I tried, only 2 are actually good enough to be properly playable. Thief (2014) and BattleFront.
Most every other, the FOV can’t be set high enough no matter what. I can fake it a little bit with Portal 2 but either the fps isn’t high enough or the FOV is off even after adjusting what I can in VorpX. It’s just funky enough to not be worth it.
Fallout 4, again I can fake it enough but it’s still not quite right, there’s a couple other titles like this but most are just terrible. If you can’t have a real 120 fov horizontal, it just never looks quite right.So basically I play using the cinema screen and I’m ok with that as long as I have the 3D option but the lack of UE4 support is killing me as so many games use that engine. Dishonored 2 isn’t playable at all with imported profile and some won’t even hook, especially if you want to use ENB series or Reshade. As such I never recommend my VR friends to get this.
I just wish Ralph was able to put more resources into VorpX, usually the lone coding wolf for software like this just never pans out enough to have polish. Too bad Valve doesn’t try to make an app like this.

xrc6ParticipantSpeaking of Cinema mode, has the curve screen option been removed? I only played 1 or 2 new games since VorpX’s last update and the ability to curve the screen has always been the first thing I do and I no longer see the option there?
Please tell me it’ll be back. I prefer it so I can zoom the screen a bit larger and the curve helps me see everything easier without as much head turning.
