Are you playing in first person or third person view?
As long as you have a near accurate Field of View setting, things should appear at correct scale and distances, especially in ArmA, as the camera is placed right where the eyes go on the player model.
If you have directVR enabled, vorpX should be setting this all correctly for you. But I wonder if your changing of the resolution so frequently perhaps has overwritten the fov values vorpX initially set. Your best bet is probably to restore the profile to default settings, by clicking that button on the profile in the vorpX desktop config app. Restore the profile settings to default, launch Arma3 once to let vorpX fix the settings automatically, close the game, and restart it a second time, so that the vorpX settings are now fully applied.
But if you still feel that this, and other ArmA FOV adjustment still are not revealing enough of the player model as you want, then there is one last thing you can do. By enabling “Expert Settings” in the vorpX desktop config app, you can then unlock the FOV Enhancement slider in the vorpX delete menu within the game. If the “change game settings” is turned off in the DirectVR page, the FOV Enhancement slider will now be revealed on the vorpX main settings page, under More 3D/FullVR settings. Note however, this is only available for G3D, and that increasing this slider will introduce pop-in render culling around the edges of the screen, and possibly also displace shadows and lights. So use this only if you really need to.
I’m not going to claim that my settings are perfectly correct, but these are what I settled on after one night of playing, that feel good to me:
– first load into game, open vorpX delete menu, go to directVR page and turn off all game changing settings there. click okay and save. (forgive me please Ralf :) )
– I set a 4:3 resolution 1920 x 1440 , set to normal in ArmA3 menu, no stretched. Apply it and exit the game.
– Next, for FOV edit, open *USERNAME*.Arma3Profile found in C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Arma 3
– edit these two values to look like this:
fovTop=1.56;
fovLeft=2.08;
(These were given to me from and ArmA3 fov calculator for 105 degrees at 4:3 resolution)
*note that if you change your resolution in game again after doing this, these fov values will be reset to default, so it’s important to have your desired resolution set before doing this.
– Launch ArmA3 again and into a mission. open vorpX delete menu and adjust image zoom down to 0.96 , and 3D strength down near 0.59 .
All together this combination feels good to me using HP Reverb G1 at 105 degrees fov.
you could probably experiment with higher value resolutions of 4:3, but 1440p seemed a good balance for my 2080ti . don’t forget to increase the imaage sharpening to your liking in vorpX image settings page, as this can greatly increase the clarity of textures at lower resolutions.
Update
I made a custom resolution which is same as my quest 2 ( 1832×1920 ) & used auto stretch option in arma2 as well as selecting the new custom res
Much better & aspect seems spot on,
just x2 last points below :
1)
But still need to zoom out a tad -when I press minus key for small zoom out that seems about right but can not keep my finger in it
2)
Fish eye still slightly present
Other than that all else impressive
Just need to sort these last x2 points
I’ve recently purchased VorpX to use Arma3
I’ve setup a few custom resolutions & found the more square ones seem better ( 2048×2160 )
Few issues
View seems slightly zoomed in
no matter what VorpX setting or Arma3 “zoom” , “5×4” etc in res setting option
I tried changing fov in the arma3 config file , I saved it but dont think it’s doing much
Very slight gosh eye type effect when moving head left & right
Yes, ArmA3 uses BattleEye by default for official servers. But you can disable BE in the ArmA launcher, and set your server browser filter to show only those running without BE. The main problem here is these servers are usually have specific mods, which you’ll need to have installed.
There is however a new Vietnam DLC that just dropped yesterday “SOG Prairie Fire” and it already has 3 vanilla servers running without BE. I was able to join one that had 38 players. I haven’t played ArmA for years, but this is defiantly worth returning for. All the more awesome in vorpX of course!
I’ve just bought VorpX, with Arma3 as my primary game to use it on, so I’ll be trying to get the settings right.
Your description sound like what mine looked like when I first tried it. I’ve started playing with a lot of the settings, and have it nearly perfect after not too much playing around. I can post the settings I’ve used, but it also depends on the hardware/HMD you’re using, I think. I’m using a HP Reverb G1, on a mediocre PC running a RTX 2070 (non-super). My desktop monitor is a 2560 x 1440 144Hz, but one of the things I have working is a custom resolution for Arma3 of 2160 x 2160 (which mirrors my HMD’s resolution).
I can post my settings up later tonight and talk you through them, and hopefully they might help. What HMD and GPU are you using?
I’m trying to find the best options for Arma 3 with Vorpx and the resolution and fov is causing some issues.
the vorpx seems to work almost plug and play with arma 3, but the problem is the vision is too round if i can describe it right. as if the player was inside a bubble. second problem is that the fov or the resolution is off which makes the realistic vr option feel more like a screen than vr. for example you can see how characters and vehicles next to you appear to be larger at the edge of the field of view.
i use vorpx profile and have reseted it multiple times.
i guess im looking for a example of settings that work with you.
my desktop is 3440×1440 21:9 ultrawide. could this cause problems?
I could write pages regarding on how lame, stupid but most of all way overrated reddit has become, calling itself “The Frontpage of the Internet” while it is actually more like the ugly mirror of it, let alone that weird and mostly negative voting-behaviour of its users (while actually completely boring and pretty dull stuff is getting upvoted to a point where i actually think it must be bots or bought upvotes coz no real person would upvote that useless crap) along with that stupid “karma system”.
Regarding vorpX I just read a few comments there but i noticed it´s just the usual useless negativity, spread by dorks who think they´d be smarter than they actually are so i skipped reading even further.
In order to make redditors actually “like” something, it either has to be a meme and/or easy to understand, nothing sort of “complicated” coz people there don´t like to use their brains a lot, that is why you find “great” stuff on the frontpage with 80k upvotes….great stuff like that one video showing a car hitting another one (being as original and interesting as the average car-crash-vid on youtube) or those memes where you can´t be sure if everyone loves it there coz it is so friggin simple and stupid or those morons probably only hittin the upvote button so much coz 100 redditors before hit it too, without actually being aware of what is behind it let alone understanding the upvoted meme at all.
The worst thing of all within reddit, is the community there decides what is good and what is bad, completely regardless of how the same thing is seen by others everywhere else, even inside reddit´s different subs there are submissions getting submitted in two rather similiar subs, getting 5k upvotes in one sub while getting downvoted mostly in the other one, and no common sense of this world could probably understand why that is happening.
death stranding :
with vorpx profil, game dont launch at all. If I take custom profil, game launch but vorpx dont attach

Has anyone had any success with using Cheat Engine https://www.cheatengine.org/ to overcome multiplayer games with Easy Anti Cheat or Battleye software built in that stop Vorpx hooking at all? Multiplayer is my favorite method of playing games over single player and it’s a shame so many multiplayer games have EAC or Battleye built in stopping Vorpx running them in stereoscopic 3D (thankfully there are a few that work in MP stil like Battlefield 1, Battlefield V and Star Wars Battlefront 2 but not for most. Is there any news that EAC will whitelist Vorpx? I heard rumors that this would happen but multiplayer only games like Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, Squad, Post Scriptum, Hell Let Loose- all multiplayer games that run EAC aren’t hooking at all and assume it’s still related to the anti cheat software blocking Vorpx.. I love Arma 3 with Vorpx in single player- if only the Battleye anti cheat software for multiplayer can be overcome too that otherwise prevents multiplayer with that at all (and hav eno idea how to find servers that don’t use battleye)..
