These aren’t all FPS games, but are excellent picks:

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is AWESOME in VR if you’re into mystery adventures
Elite Dangerous if you like space exploration games
The Elder Scrolls Series – primarily Skyrim.
    Fallout 4
    The Batman Arkham Series
    Metro 2033
Call of Duty Black Ops 1-3, Battlefield 3-4 and even Hardline, Any Splinter Cell or Crysis game
    Alien Isolation
    Quake I-III
    Half Life 2
    Portal
The Witcher 1 and 2 if you like extended campaign games that will suck all your time, not sure if Witcher III is manageable at acceptable graphics levels
    Bioshock: Infinite
    Borderlands
    GTA IV and V
and to tickle your fear of heights check out Mirror’s Edge

Essentially if your computer can run it, and it’s built on a major game engine like Unreal, Unity, and quite a few others – it’ll play in VorpX. The less popular it is the more tweaking you’ll have to do though because it won’t have been done already by someone else. Once you get used to the Vorpx in game menu you’ll be able to get games to run. Whether you get a true stereoscopic experience depends on how the game was coded though.

I’m sure that’s clear as mud now.. lol. But hopefully there are a couple of games on there you can check out that are well established as compatible.

I feel like Ive seen this topic posted about once a week and never see any actual solutions or resolutions but I figure Ill give it a shot anyway

None of my steam games seem to be recognized by vorpx. Ive tried battlefield 4 and that being an origin game runs fine. The vorpx desktop works fine. Vorpx is running and has not reported any errors. Ive disabled every possible overlay I can think of and killed just about every running process I can besides steam, nvidia, and oculus. Ive disabled streaming and capture in the nvidia geforce experience. The only AV I have running is the one built in to windows 10

Ive tried just cause 3, a custom rocket league, CODBLOPS3, none of them get recognized by vorpx and launch in the headset. They only launch full screen on my desktop and I just continue to see the oculus home screen in my HMD

VorpX seems to be breaking the path to BF4 executable. I get this error: “Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.”

Am I doing something wrong here? The game launches fine when VorpX isn’t running.

I think we need more games with Geometry 3D support. I think its the only real 3D. Games like battlefield 4 and GTA 5 need it. Please do it.

Maybe flawless widescreen can fix your fov? It’s free, I use it for battlefield 4 campaign mode. It’s able to bump it up by a little over 30, so 90 in the game + 30 from flawless widescreen, let me know if it works, I love mirrors edge ( 1 ; )

I had been playing Battlefield 4, GTA V, The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and The Division for a long time at 1080p/60fps on a 65 inch plasma TV at a distance of 8.5 ft (optimal distance for that size/resolution according to online calculators & charts). I was able to easily see the difference between Low, Medium, High, Ultra on the TV just fine. But for some reason when I play those games using the Oculus Rift (CV1) and VorpX (or Virtual Desktop) I can’t tell the difference between the highest and lowest settings. In terms of visual fidelity I see absolutely no difference or the difference might for some reason be so small that I can’t detect it. Obviously there is a huge impact on frame rate going from lowest to highest, but I’m curious about the visual fidelity. I am running those games at 2160 by 1200, 90+ fps (depending on game somewhere between medium to ultra)’ 980 ti. Any idea why that might be? Have u experienced the same thing (same visual fidelity regardless of low or ultra settings)?

Okay, just figured out for third category the easiest way to solve is install xpadder. Probably other software options to. This program let’s me use the controller as if it were a mouse or keyboard. So I configured xpadder to use only the right stick input and output it as mouse movement (x and y axis). Left every other button unaltered. Bit a fiddle with sensitivity, and in the actual game, deleted the keybinding for the right stick. Now even battlefield 4 works just fine in Virtual Reality with a controller. No jumping/snap turning/any other weird stuff going on. Hope this helps anyone. Day 2 user of vorpx.

A lot of games require either a mouse+keyboard input or just a controller. Since vorpx uses the headtracking by default as mouse input, sometimes the software needs manual configuration to get looking around in games to work with a controller. I believe there are 3 distinct categories :

    1) The “clever” games that can deal with the problem themselves (example:DOOM)
    – No problem, just looking around and playing with zombies.

    2) The games that can only deal with one input device at a time. (Example: Far Cry 3)
    – These games need some configuration in vorpx. Usually setting the gamepad override to NO, and changing the “headtracking as gamepad” to RELATIVE fixes the problem. Finally adjust settings on the gamepad tab in vorpx to finetune sensitivity of the “right stick” (which is now actually the headtracking).

    3) Then there is EA, and I guess some other developers, who actually shouldn’t be allowed near a computer. Their ways of coding creates problems which I haven’t been able to solve with any configuration of vorpx just yet. (Example : Battlefield 4) In this game you can change at any given moment between the kb+mouse or controller, but don’t try to use them at the same time. All kind of weird things happen to your playing character, spinning like a toll most likely. Even configuring vorpx headtracking as if it were a gamepad doesn’t solve the problem. This is where you, my fellow vorpx user friends, come into play. I have seen people play it on YouTube with vorpx and a controller. In a sitting position that is. If you’ve got it up and running with a controller right from your lazy comfy chair, please do share your wealthy knowledge, for it’ll bring peace to a lot of us.

Just purchased vorpx a couple of days ago, only tried battlefield 4 atm, the image quality is horrible to be honest, i had 1920*1080 resolution ingame, that screen is then projected on a small screen inside the vive, so the resolution is already scaled down, then you zoom in for the “vr” effect and you end having pixels large like a mountain.
Not to mention that the 3d is faked with z-buffer, with very low to none effect and artifacts.

What am i missing? is it possible to set up a resolution that is going to use all the VIVE displays instead that just a portion of it ?

Do i have to set 1080*1200 ingame ?

Also is it possible to have information about the geometry 3d support for games? maybe on the supported game list you should write wich ones are available in true 3d, the fake z-buffer 3d is something i want to avoid at all costs.

Lastly, would it be possible to use the tridef driver togheter with vorpx ? they have a very good list of supported games in real 3d, would be great.

I’ll test more games in the meantime i really hope i’m missing something else vorpx is a no go for me.

Ah, Battlefield 4 is quite old. I cloned the Battlefield Hardline profile and that works. It’s a pain setting the FOV in the game options up click by click and it maxes out at 90 but I’m getting somewhere, and it’s pretty smooth.

I’ve been trying, with limited knowledge, to see if I could get Mirror’s Edge Catalyst to work in vorpX. Figuring that it was first person and Frostbite based I went with the Battlefield 4 profile but it just crashes on launch. Are there any more comprehensive profile authoring documentation/tools available. I’ve read the blog post titled “Power to the People!”.. I’m guessing that is still in the pipeline?

I’ll post here if I make any progress. :D
