Pressing the left analogue stick (L3) on a controller brings up the VorpX menu when using it normally so i assume it is the same when using desktop mode.
Hi There was trying to use Vorpx Desktop however really struggling as the only way to get the menu to appear is to press the Del key. Finding that when you are wearing the headset is not always easy and the menu itself seems to just popup anywhere.
Is there a way to get the vorpx desktop menu from a button on the controller? So far I have found no way to do this. Very frustrating as I was trying to configure the screen but had to keep taking off the headset so I could find the del key…
If mapping to gamepad controls behaves odd, try mapping to keyboard/mouse instead. Many games can’t handle simultaneous mouse/gamepad input. Whenever vorpX has to emulate a mouse for head tracking in such a game the only way to make VR controllers work is having them emulate kb/mouse. That’s also why kb/mouse is the default option in most cases.
does xbox controller to motion controller remap function suppose to work with most games? Or just with certain games?
I tried some games but didn’t get good results so far. Would be handy to know if this is normal or maybe I am doing something wrong :)
Not all games have DirectVR, if you try Alt+L and nothing happens chances are the game you’re trying doesn’t. When starting a game for the first time you should get all of vorpX advices in the top left corner of the window in your monitor and also tell you whether it has DirectVR or not and how to use Alt+L.
Never really tried the gamepad override, vr controls make for lousy gamepads; i would recommend you to save for a ps4 controller.
Hey, so I thought I’d post since this is the only game that does this, but this might not be related to VorpX, hoping someone might have a solution here though. As soon as I put on the headset the fps drop – both the game on the PC screen and on the Rift S freeze(I get the hourglass on the Rift and nothing moves). That happens in game, not on the main menu.
I’m running on a GTX 1060 6GB, i7-12700K, 32GB RAM, playing with an xbox controller and I have 3 monitors connected to my PC. The one I’m running Elden Ring on is 3440×1440, the other 2 are 4K.
Now here’s the good part.
If I alt-tab out of the game or if I don’t move AT ALL, it shows up fine. If I alt-tab of course I can’t move in the game, and the slightest movement in game will make it freeze again. Now I’ve been having problems with Elden Ring and the mouse cursor in general, if I move it inside the window on any menu the game will do the same thing, even without the Rift. I’m suspecting the issue could be from the head-tracked “cursor” that pops up in the Rift when you use a controller. But I can’t play without a controller anyway because of the cursor freezing.
I’ve tried different resolutions, a different monitor, lowering graphics, Windowed mode(this one actually makes the game playable with the mouse but doesn’t fix the Rift freezing). I’ve disabled full-screen optimizations for elden ring. Tried different scaling options and resolutions for my monitor. Tried disconnecting the other two monitors as well. I’m all out of ideas at this point. It’s only Elden Ring T_T
The motion gestures really do make this game feel more VR. Now that I have the controls more or less figured out I even realized that by enabling the ghost hands in the menu. It actually feels a bit like a proper vr game. You can reach out and pretend to touch things.
I only have one suggestions here, would it be possible for you to add the button overlay even while ghost hands is on?
Actually for immersion only show the overlay when the hands are close to my body, but if i reach out past a certain radius hid them as per normal.
That’s weird indeed. Might be worth to check whether you have an FPS limit set either in the game’s video options or maybe even globally in the nVidia control panel.
Okay so I tried the ‘Other Mod’ and this is my fair conclusion: It runs smooth and has a fairly large start-up resolution. I uninstalled it quick.
The Vorpx version will remain my PERMANENT cyberpunk 2077 vr mod. After using the gesture controllers and the tweaking options you get with the mod, the xbox controller method is too restricting (to me). I tried it out to see what the fanfare was about. Don’t get me wrong, he did a good & commendable job. It just sacrifices a certain ‘fluidity’ if you know what I mean.
I ALWAYS inform people of Ralf’s version and they come out shocked mostly because there’s NO publicity for this groundbreaking achievement.
Is the Vorpx version perfect? No it’s not but it’s the closest we get to a full blown VR experience of Night city and all it contains. The mod is so cool that I LITERALLY have my arm ache because I physically have to wield my Katana :) and it’s FREE!!!
Kinda hurts that the VR sector would be this biased.
Kudos again to you guys at Vorpx and trust that your efforts will be PROPERLY acknowledged once it’s time.
PS. I’m not just some drooling fanboy, I’m currently building my own Open-World VR experience, so I kinda have an idea of how to appreciate a good VR mod.
works great
cinema mode seems best , the 3d models and 3d world are great
i made the screen size as wide as my rift s fov
everything maxed out gfx wise at 1440 p rez
explosions are great
using xbox 360 gamepad , turn the sensitivity lower in game control settings , as the gun sights are too fast on screen without a tweak
quite comfy and enjoyable to romp thru )
My Initial Impressions:
Fantastic platform adventure that was built from the ground up to be played in 3D
* 5/5
* Perfect 3D to give you one of the TOP VorpX experiences available.
* Immersive or Cinema Mode
* Geometry 3D
* Motion Controllers emulate a Gamepad perfectly.
*PLEASE NOTE: If you are using the controllers, there is a section in the game where you need to hit the Right D-Pad, to access this on the Motion Controllers, you hold down the Left Grip Button and you should see your controls change to show a D-PAD.
The good news: This mod seems to work pretty darn well so far for me. The mod has a built-in FOV control so you can adjust that as you wish, and overall things seem excellent in my testing.
The bad news: The camera sway is a bit much to take and the only Witcher 3 mod I’ve found so far that claims to remove it does not work for me.
The vorpX G3D profile, unfortunately, has the all-too-common issues with shadows etc. So you’ll have to disable those if you want to use G3D (and the game looks *awful* without the shadows). You’ll probably want to use Z3D (more acceptable since it’s 1st person now). Too bad the G3D profile isn’t 100% though, because it otherwise looks great and even in G3D it’s now old enough to push very high resolutions and lots of eye-candy.
Also helpful if you set controllers to visible with the buttons displayed until you get used to them :-)
*PLEASE NOTE: If you are using the controllers, there is a section in the game where you need to hit the Right D-Pad, to access this on the Motion Controllers, you hold down the Left Grip Button and you should see your controls change to show a D-PAD.
