    Hi!

Just bought Vorpx and I’ve only played with it for two evenings. Got some questions that I didn’t find answers for.

Vorpx works and I’ve played Metro Last Light Redux with it for abit. Setting the game resolution is problematic, granted that this game has problems of its own with setting the resolution in windowed mode but heres what happens :

    – If I just start the game with Vorpx running and use the automated settings, it wants to use a very low resolution (1600×1200 or something like that). I can change the resolution in-game, but that garbles the graphics (this is because of the windowed mode, not because of Vorpx, the graphics go weird even in flat mode if the game is not fullscreen). So not a Vorpx problem, it is the game not liking windowed mode.

    – If I run the game through Vorpx Desktop Viewer, the resolution goes up, but now I can’t choose the resolution at all (the game locks the resolution to something weird like 5124×1440 (is that an ultrawide reso or something?), can’t remember the exact resolution but it was about that). Ok, the game is playable with this resolution, but I am still wondering why I can’t change the resolution in desktop viewer situation. I tried to turn the automatic resolution thing off, but that didn’t seem to do anything. I have created a plethora of custom resolutions into Nvidia control panel and if I understand correctly, it is recommended to run games in 4:3 aspect ratio or close to that for best results. And ofcourse I feel like I’d want to up the resolution a bit (getting near constant 120fps according to the Vorpx FPS thingy with this reso) cause the graphics still look a bit pixelated in the distance. Yes, I am new with Vorpx and I might be doing something wrong here, but thats why I am here :)

-Another tech question not related to resolution – is the ALT+L thing something that should be done once you are in-game and in full vr? I ask this because if i tap ALT+L once in-game, it reduces mouselook to just horizontal movement and if I don’t tap ALT+L I have full mouselook in both axis. Using the ALT+L also seems to remove the Y-axis options completely from the Vorpx menu (delete key), again, if I don’t tap the ALT+L, the menus have all the Y-axis options (and I do want full mouselook, especially in first person games).

Im running Win 11 (all the latest updates), RTX 4080, Pimax Crystal HMD.

    Thanks!

In your shoes my first impulse probably would also be blaming vorpX since on the surface that’s what doesn’t work for you, but in a case like this chances are very high that you simply have some unresolved hooking conflict with some tool that also hooks into games.

If not even fully featured DirectVR profiles like this one – G3D, 6DOF tracking, fully automated FOV setup, pre-configured motion controller mapping, heck, in this game vorpX even takes care of moving weapons out of sight unless you shoot – don’t work for you, something weird is going on with your setup.

The best way to trouble shoot potential hooking conflicts is exiting each and every background tool you may have running on your machine, no matter how unlikely you consider them to cause such a conflict. More details regarding potental hooking conflicts can be found in the trouble shooting section of the vorpX help.

As I expected – vorpx has failed yet again. I’m not going to bag it out like I normally do but in this case after reading this forum I had hope that it would finally work but nuh_uh. First launch when it reads “press a key to begin” nothing either on the controls or my PC keyboard I tried to exit the Vorpx messages too but no. I couldnt even alt-tab out finally I had to use task manager. Then I tried starting and it crashed back to steam each time. Quest 3 i9 14900KF, RTX 4070 48 GB RAM 2 TB Samsung nVme drive x 2, Windows 11. Never has a game worked to my satisfaction in vorpx so as a result I have not played even one game through so that will be my last ever try. But I am glad that it works for some people – not dissing the program itself. The developer obviously worked hard and its a good program for some just not for me… Oh well.

I installed the vorpx Cyperpunk standalone mod and it doesn´t seem to work at all.

I tried launching it from my desktop using quest link as well as just launching it from steam link, both result in cyperpunk just launching as a “screen” rather than as a vr title. When launching from using quest link the sound works, however when launching using steam link it does not. In both cases I am unable to progress further than the screen prompting me to press a button, with the game prompting me to “PRESSTO CONTINUE” rather than ” PRESS B TO CONTInuE”. The game does not respond to controller inputs while crashing from keyboard inputs.

I have tried pretty much all of the solutions I found in this forum but none of them worked for me.

It seems that the problem was the 4050 notebook. Had to reset the profile and play with low to medium (decent) settings and that appeared to stop the zoom. Now Im discovering how to bind controls, but I will try to play with gamepad only if its possible.

Running classic mode successfully with 21.3.5 and it is an absolute blast and performance is also pretty good, I must say. Only issue where I was wondering if here is a good workaround is adjusting the y axis angle to fit the headset. I am using oculus controllers to emulate M+KB and have put the y sensitivity of the right joystick to 0. That way at least I don’t accidentally change the angle while turning and then for adjustments I just quickly use the real mouse. I know I cannot do memory scan or anything like that but is there some alternative that does not require constant readjustment after I have been in a dialogue or a menu?

    What I’m working with:

    QUEST 3, i9, 32gRam, 4070 RTX
    – COPY of Updated Vorpx CYBERPUNK Standalone mod dated SEPT 2024
    – Copy of CYBERPUNK 2077 2.13 + Phantom Liberty

Everyone remembers what happened the dreadful week of the the infamous 2.13 update drop.
Many solutions were sought. Many things wouldn’t work no matter how closely defined my actions were to the instructions concerning CET and the like.

I was ecstatic that Ralf powered by Vorpx, or rather Vorpx powered by Ralf – was quick to update the stand alone mod and link. In my neck of the woods internet is non existent so after installing and and reinstalling with fixes in different combinations and orders it took forever each time I got exhausted – you have no idea how slow of a connection lol
I looked forward to downloading CP2077 what I thought would be the final time and began to install the new updated standalone {all smiles}.

Unfortunately I was stuck in the game waiting room , with the same message of “my version of cyberpunk being newer” ..etc etc. Realizing it could be a false message (see above if it linked properly) I sought to continue : However I noticed that I wasn’t able to use either the keyboard or Quest 3 controllers to continue. I was able to use the grips to use the vorpx configuration menu ( open and close the menu) – that was it. I changed a few settings in vorpx menu – gamepad back to keyboard etc – Mouse was only working in vorpx menu. upon closing the menu AND after the opening intro movie I would get a message saying {!} CONTROLLER DISCONNECTED Please Reconnect controller. No controller buttons or keyboard would work (other image if posted correctly)- I Never post to Forums, as most threads seem a spiral into condescension to the poster -Among other things Im embarrassed I cant figure this out – and reading comments on videos expressing that it worked first try no fuss no muss – Im pulling out what 3 hairs I have left on my head. Ive tried everything – I, in my heart think its got to be something I’ve overlooked, or accidental setting change.
**Headset selection on The –CyberpunkVR config link — oculus headsets , rift , Quest via Oculus link is selected** (I’ve always used questlink for this game with unfailing great results)

If anyone can Help, I would owe you my soul.

    Thanks in advance,

Hello, issue still there, rebooting the headset by pressing the power button seems to temporary fix the issue when it happens.
It seems to happen more frequently when fps are low, happens a lot when i was testing the limit of my configuration.
It’s like a sudden de-synch between the metaquest-link and vorpx. I had cases where i had to reset vorpx services to make it work again.

When it happens and you leave the game, the jittering is still happening in the metaquest-link environnement, and disappear if you go back to the “standalone environnement” and then go back to the metaquest-link env.

I’ve also noticed that it can be triggered by the headset notifications, such as “low battery” or “low battery on controler”.

The game camera in first person shooters is controlled by your mouse normally, i.e. looking around and aiming are the same in a game typically. Since vorpX (except for a few exceptions) doesn’t alter the inner workings of a game’s controls, looking around with the headset also means aiming.

I see, great, thank you. Do you know of any way/s to manipulate the game’s settings, controller settings, etc. to have the VR head movement = gun/aim movement not be as drastic?

Aiming is usually bound to mouse movement with vorpX. There are some exceptions from this rule, most notably Cyberpunk that comes with free VR controller aiming in the latest vorpX 24.1, but those really are exceptions.

Thanks but this aiming isn’t only bound to the mouse’s movement, the aiming can be done purely by head movement – literally without touching the mouse.

Not sure about the mouse issue, that definitely didn’t happen when the profile was done back then. There is a cursor toggle keyboard shortcut that *might* help, can’t recall currently what the default is, but you can check under ‘ingame key bindings’ in the config app. Also switching between fullscreen/windowed is worth a shot in such a case.

As far as visual glitches are concerned, try to tinker with (turn off) graphics settings. The profile is supposed to adjust settings automatically, but who knows. Stuff like motion blur or some antialiasing methods are typical candidates for potential glitches.

I’ve been working to get VorpX working with Star Citizen by following the path started by Chachi_Sanchez and his discord. However, I’ve run into a wall due to Star Citizen crashing while attempting to hook to VorpX. The error itself presents as a 0xc0000142 error, and looking it up in the Windows Event Viewer, I see the faulting application is vorpControl64.exe or vorpControl64.exe and the faulting module path is ntdll.dll in system32.

Attempting to run Star Citizen without a hook helper allows Star Citizen to launch properly, but does not hook to VorpX and therefore doesn’t launch in VR. Running Star Citizen with a hook helper installed through VorpX, though, causes the 142 crash.

I’ve attempted to re-register the dll, I’ve updated C++ dists, I’ve even done a Windows 11 re-install and reinstalled Star Citizen, but the error still remains.

Does anyone have insight that might help?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

From the configuration, I’ve selected Oculus as the device. Is there a way to disable or remap the controller buttons for edge peek and menu?

I want to use the grip/squeeze buttons as game controls. When I press the right grip, it activates edge peek. When I press both grip buttons, the in-game menu is activated. I don’t see any option to change that.

How can I remap the grip buttons? If that option is not available, can the feature be added?

    Hi,
I’m new to all this VR headset stuff. Played “Half Life 2” back in the days with Elsa Revelator 3D glasses on a CRT Monitor and loved it.
Now I want to get back into 3D gaming again, because I found out about “Black Mesa” (remake of the original Half Life game).
I don’t want to spend lots of money, is there a piece of hardware that I can buy to get back the 3D without too much hassle?
I’m not new to computers but I don’t want to fiddle around for hours. What would you recommend?
    1. What VR Set or what display can I buy? Low price please, it’s ok for me to buy used gear.
    2. What Software do I need? Drivers for the VR Set or display, and also Vorpx or what else?
    3. How difficult is it to get the VR Headset or display working with “Black Mesa”? I want the 3D vision, I don’t need virtual controllers or are those automatically supported, too?
You know, I don’t want to buy hardware and then find out it doesn’t work with “Black Mesa” or it’s unplayable because of some glitches or errors…
Thank you to everybody for your help!!!
