Ok so I was trying to use the Crysis64.exe instead of Crysis.exe, after changing to 32bit version it hooked up correctly.
The funny thing is that as I suspected the fps isn’t great but for some reason it still runs much smoother than most games I played. Others usually require that 75fps to get smooth headtracking but this one is still playable with much less.
Anyway thanks for the help, Crysis looks really nice with geometry 3d and I recommend anyone who has this game and vorpx to try it out. No major glitches found during brief testing, only some black bars(?) during cut scene but while player controlled looked really nice. :)
Sounds like vorpX can’t pick up its profile for the game, otherwise it would display another message. The check for that is based on the .exe name. Should be Crysis.exe.
The best way to check whether that is true in your case is checking your task manager while the game runs. Some games have different .exe names for special editions or launch child processes with other names when an (older) version with DVD copy protection is used.
Would be great if you could send a mail with your findings to support |at| vorpx com.
This is supposed to work with geometry 3D but I can’t enable it ingame? VorpX hooks up correctly but can’t select any stereo mode ingame. Im using the old disc version so that might be the issue, if so is there to way to fix this?
Its kinda like the screens are showing two different images instead variations of the same one and i forgot to mention head tracking doesnt work and the menu only pops up in crysis
Whenever i start up a game i start it up through the oculus being the main screen and is
A) really hard to see the desktop icons
B) almost impossible to read anything
but when i set it up as a seperate second screen it doestn let me put my games in that window for some reason.
but the main problem ive been having is that whenever i start up a game it splits into a screen that doesnt line up (like i cant see the center of the screen even on the desktop) and the motion tracking doesnt work.
If someone could tell me how to fix this that would be awesome
the games ive tried so far
Skyrim (drums sound once then dont go off anymore)
portal( cant see the center of the screen)
dishonored(cant see the center of the screen and pops up in windowed mode
crysis (screens arent facing each other)
if SBS support was offered would that make crysis 3’s official 3D support would work, because currently when i select it in the in game menus i saw 2 pictures per eye.
also i think human revolution has official 3D support, and would likey do SBS, i think in that scase the guns would be fixed, as currently when you do 3D with vorpx there is a double gun issue making 3D less enjoyable than 2D.
QUBE Director’s Cut works flawlessly with udk.exe, it doesn’t have fov controls but it can be tweaked to 120 on the config files, so another one to the list.
I’ll try crysis 2 and 3 with your tweak and see how it works, hopefully crysis 2 will work just as well since both share the same engine.

I thought Crysis 1-3 were supported now by Oculus? Im having trouble access the Vorpx menu in this game even if I create a shortcut via Vorpx :( It seems to run ok but the view is way tooooo far zoomed in and I cant seem to get the tracking working :(
yes RE5 is certainly tricky, theres a perfect FoV hack and laser sight hack which helps with the jumbo crosshair size you get in injected oculus rift games, in that regard laser sight is one thing to look out for.
and yeah crysis 3 works perfect in geometry 3D, no issues with shadows/lights that I can see, if you can find a crysis 3 solution that allows for FOV enhacnement let me know as that would be better than the one I was using.
Got Another game, remember me, rename to UDK for perfect 3D and also to remember settings as it has no profile to begin with (I suggest ralf just add the profile and use another one as a base for it),
3D fov enhacnement works for remember me but you might as well use the INI file change, just need to find a way to move the hud in, suggest using grain removal texmod in order to remove the grain, since vorpx zooms in on the image the grain is much larger than intended, widescreen fixer also has a FOV fix but it doesn’t seem to recognise when I’m running the game, is probably because i changed the exe.
I’ve found that Contrast works flawlessly with Vorpx by changing the executable to UDK.exe, no graphic issues and great performance . The only issue is that there’s no FOV controls but Flawless Widescreen has a profile for it, so it can be tweaked to look great.
I’ve been checking UE3 games for possible candidates, I’ll try Q.U.B.E DC and Black Site Area 51 next.
BTW Bulletstorm works fantastic, I’m slowly getting a pretty interesting backlog of games to play with Vorpx, thanks!
@OculusRiftRocks Great find about Crysis 3, and I have no idea about RE5 sorry.
I managed to get success with crysis 3, rename it to DXHRDC, you will now have geometry 3D, however the FOV enhancer does not work, so your stuck with 112 FOV (the maximum the engine will allow)
Still, it’s an improvement.
Thanks for that link, you should try bulletstorm, it has perfect 3D with strength set at 1, unfortunately ADS has double vision in the gunsight so i have to lower it to 0.4, if you can think of a way to hide that part of the gun that would be perfect, you will know what I mean when you install it
See below for my head fix (alingns AND scales)
under stormhud.ini set the values
BaseScreenWidth=1200
BaseScreenHeight=1620
this pushes the hud to the center, it also scales the hud by the resolution, so it makes the hud much smaller, so for once the crosshair size is decent inside vorpx.
im trying to find a way to move the hud up from this point, any help would be appreciated.
I tried renaming crysis 3’s exe, but it didn’t work, vorpx just loaded the regular crysis 3 profile, any other advice?
I was able to change them but it made aiming down sites unplayable.
I don’t think I can agree with you that this game works well, bioshock infinite was great, I was rate this game as bad/poor due to game gun size issue.
crysis 1 on the other hand works well.
yes I noticed one game that supports HUD scaling under 3D is crysis 1, it almost gets to where I want it to be with the lowest setting, but not quite, if that number could be lowered to 30 that would be great, is there any reason on the cap being 50 in these settings, like UI scaling and zoom?
however in the above post I was refering to the camera height modifier functuionality, the game was tomb raider underworld, and changing this settings actually changed the hud placement which is what I want anyway, I think it would be a good idea to have the same option on the X axis, I know the wording would be strange , I guess it would be called “camera pan modifier” but sometimes this settings changes the hud which can be a lifesaver in games.
Ya Crysis 3 works really well with vorpx, it does make me anxious for CV1 though. The graphics are great and the environments are very detailed it just begs for a clearer screen. This and Bioshock Infinite are my showcase games so far. I think the FOV settings for your gun and arms are separate in the ini file. Ill have to look into it but I bet they can be tweaked.
