This supported Vorpx game seems completely unplayable to me, FOV is too low as the game only allows a vertical FoV of 80 in the console, trying to get anymore than that just returns the value 80 each time, my gun is also comically large.

is there something I am missing to getting crysis 3 working?

    Hi,

fortunately it’s possible to use gamepad and mouse simultaneously in the Crysis-series.

The only problem: it’s a bit confusing, that everytime when you move your head the ingame menue jumps from xbox-gamepad-mapping to keyboard-mapping. When you touch a gamepad button it jumps back to gamepad-mapping. The result is a flickering menue. So it would be much more comfortable, when the games only show gamepad-mapping, even when the mouse is triggered because of head-movement.

My question: is it possible to disable the keyboard-menue to force the game to show only gamepad-mapping to stop this flickering?

Does anyone know a workaround, ini-tweak, a mod or something to do this?

Hi there. I’ve tried to get Crysis working but to no avail.

It sort of worked initially but head tracking was disabled. Enabled head tracking and the game kind of broke itself. Couldn’t get it to work properly. VorpX overlay, but no 3D, even with 3D enabled in the control panel. Also the VorpX cursor enlarged and pixelated over 80% of the screen.

Also the built in VorpX gamepad handling won’t turn off again… I really hate this feature and don’t really understand why it needs to be there. Yes, you can use some VR hotkeys but I don’t want that, I want the game to handle the gamepad natively.

I’m having similair issue’s but only with a few games,
These games work for me :
    Fallout New Vegas
    FarCry 3 & Blood Dragon
    Mirrors Edge(but not steam version)
    Garry’s Mod
    DayZ
Stalker Call of Pripyat(but shows a blackscreen can hear sounds tough)
    Battlefield 3
    Crysis 3
F.E.A.R – wich launches with vorpx but runs on my normal screen not the rift even tough the rift is primary display.

Games that do not seem to trigger vorpx:
Bioshock Infinite – the game launches but is not running via vorpx
F.E.A.R 2 – Crashes at startup but briefly triggers vorpx.

Mad an account to answer this one. Yeah this is an issue with the way the game developer supported 360 input on the PC. The bad news is that it wants you to use either mouse+keyboard or 360 pad. Vorpx uses mouse inputs for head-tracking so when you use a 360 pad it wigs out. Both Thief and Deus Ex: HR have this problem and I do believe they were both made by Eidos. Now this is not all games, plenty do play well with both inputs at the same time like the Crysis and Bioshock series. There is no ini or console command to disable the 360 pad auto-detect within the game and plugging it in after the game has started and using xpadder to map k&m commands to your 360 pad will not work either. Same goes for Vorpx’s own gamepad tool. I spent like 2 days trying to get a work around for both Thief and Deus Ex HR.

THE GOOD NEWS IS that you can use a non xbox360 gamepad and xpadder and control is restored. Newegg.com even has some knock off 360 pads if you want to keep the same joystiq layout for like 10$.

Or you could just go k&m but if you wanted to do that you wouldn’t have asked. Thief does come out to be a glorious experience though once you get it all setup.

thank you for taking the time to answer. That sounds great, tomorrow a friend will lend me his ps3 controller so I will give it a try with that if that works I think I wil order one of your mentioned knockoff gamepads, guess that should take care of my gamepad problems in skyrim as well.
    thanks very much :)

Wowie Crysis on the Rift !
Just purchased the VorpX and tried Crysis Warhead
Works magnificently first pop. No adjustments necessary for me.Cannot believe how well the VorpX driver works for this game.
Still fiddling about with FSX and getting fairly good results, but Crysis is magnificent.

is true, it supports oculus rift but the graphics is a real shit, comparing crysis (same graphics engine) with vorpx experience is much more beautiful than the current mode in star oculus rift in arena commander. They Something altered… the graphics are horrible, much worse than they should be…

    Hello everyone

I was trying out Vorpx with BF4 and the oculus rift.
The game displays correctly on the oculus rift but I have 3 issues:

-I can’t see any entry in the Vorpx in-game menu so I had to set it up playing Crysis 3 first (for the screen size and the 3d z buffer)

-Bf4 3d effect using zbuffer doesnt work

-BF4 only works with Vorpx using the 32-bit executable of the game

I just see a plain screen with no 3d effect, while playing crysis 3 and other games the zbuffer 3d effect works properly and I can also access the in-game menu related to vorpx (del key)

I saw a video using Vorpx on bf4 and the zbuffer was working on my oculus.

    Any Suggestion?

Z-Buffer 3D has a weaker 3D-effect then Geometry 3D, especially in the foreground of the scene. That’s the price for being twice as fast.

It works best in wide open spaces, for example in games like Skyrim or Crysis, where it can even look better than Geometry 3D in regard to overall scene depth. It’s not so great in smaller spaces where it can look a bit flat sometimes.

You can find a comparison between both methods here: https://www.vorpx.com/more-headtracking-z-buffer-vs-geometry-3d/

    Hope that helps.

i just discovered how to enable awesome 3d in Z-Buffer 3Dgames just switch to rift sbs then znormal or adaptive then back to rift amf znormal or adaptive until 3d appears/ fiddle with these 2 components till 3d depth and convergence appears. tested in crysis 3 and its awsome not flat anymore will test with others and report back. I think we should all congratulate Ralf for this driver

CylonSurfer, this is just my opinion as a 3rd party: you seem like a pretty smart detail oriented guy, and I agree with your astute assessments in your posts. But having said that, I think you’re getting a wee bit wrapped around the axle over the details that aren’t to your liking.

You paid 43 bucks for an early release beta driver for an early release hardware item that isn’t even going to be released until next year. So it mostly works but because some details don’t work to your exacting satisfaction you want to throw the whole thing back and demand a refund? IMO, that’s a little unreasonable considering how fresh off the press this is. You did a good job of highlighting some problems Ralf should look into, you should have left it at that.

Everything you’re getting on about here is open to interpretation as far as your reactions to them. I actually almost 100% agree with you on all your assessments of Skyrim and this driver at a factual level: it’s still hard to actually dig in and play, but to me mostly because the edge peek and zoom are a good start, but the GUI panels are still pretty large and way out to the periphery – unlike you, I actually find the geometry 3D mode pretty acceptable to play even with the visual glitches you can’t stand.

To my mind, the 500lb gorilla in the room isn’t these slight visual glitches, it’s the fact the resolution is so low in the dev kit. But what can you do? We all knew we were getting a low res dev kit. At this early stage in the game, the visual effects could look as crisp and flawless as 1080p PC Crysis3 set to Very High FX quality and it’s still gonna look not so hot through the big obnoxious screen door we’re all looking through anyway ;-)
