From what I’ve been reading it seems that VorpX will allow me to play non-VR games (GTAV, Arkham series, etc) in 3D on my 3D TV. Is this correct?

If so, since VorpX and NVidia 3D Vision are both $40 USD, it seems like getting VorpX is a no-brainer because I’ll be getting to play my games in 3D but also have the option of injecting VR if I feel like messing with that. Am I missing anything here, or is this right?

The industry is generally GARBAGE and too scared to try other formulas let alone trying something rather NEW and so we have dozens of GTAs, hundreds of CODs, thousands of FAR CRYs, millions of ASSASSINS CREEDs and billions of PUBGs.

The big/huge games companies are like this yes (Ubisoft, Bethesda, RockStar EA) but we have loads of great titles coming out too. These big companies don’t consider games as art, they don’t make to be fun, they make games that tick the most money-making boxes which formula will be the easiest to digest for most people.

Also, people always complain about UBI, but what is actually ROCKSTAR doing so great, besides releasing “GTA Games” every couple of years while improving graphics but sadly not the games, so then you have an open world game with great graphics but repetitive and boring gameplay.

Ubisoft are on a whole new level though. All Ubisoft open-world games are copied/pasted with terrible cohesiveness. They don’t introduce enough mechanics or variations of the same mechanic to fill an open world. FC6 is a perfect example, every single roadblock is exactly the same, the same number of guards, the same patrol routes, the same buildings, and the same rewards. The only difference is that the level designers just rotate the model slightly. RockStar at least put some effort into the filler content, I’m sure Ubisoft just pick the first 3 mechanics they like and then say stick 50 of those into the world, 100 of those, 30 of those. Done – ship it!

A good example of an open world done right (although not without some repetitiveness) would be Horizon (ZD & FW), and my personal favourite Days Gone. The world in Days Gone was much smaller than FC6 but each base was designed specifically for the location it is placed, FC6 just flattens the terrain and plonks the generic base there.

Ubisoft arent just repeating the formula, they are taking the formula and stretching it out to four times its sustainable size, then filling the gaps with repetitive garbage. The world would be better without them IMO.

    Regarding RDRII

You know, I really appreciated the visuals of that game, the detail of the environment, the thought they put into every single area. However, I could never get into it, it just didn’t click for me. I felt no connection to any of the characters except the horse, I finished because I wanted to finish what I had started, but after the first 4/5 hours I played only the main missions just so it would end sooner.

So INDIES are our only hope, forget those AAA franchises and companies, those titles take 180 hours to complete with 100%, but are actually fun for approx. 3 hours.

Again, I will agree with what you say here. The only difference for me is that sometimes I just want more of the same. If a game style clicks with me I want more of it. Obviously, I would like to see advancements in that formula such as better AI, better branching stories, and so on and so forth. Perhaps a procedural generation algorithm which can produce a meaningful world that can also contain an actual story, I mean we have AI that can produce a fairly decent short story now, surely we can integrate something like that to give us more gameplay in the same world/universe.

    Ubisoft garbage.

Then you have to either look for a different hobby or do it like myself: Having dozens of games installed and switching between titles every couple of days, to have at least some variety.

The industry is generally GARBAGE and too scared to try other formulas let alone trying something rather NEW and so we have dozens of GTAs, hundreds of CODs, thousands of FAR CRYs, millions of ASSASSINS CREEDs and billions of PUBGs.

Did i already mention all the REMAKES and REMASTERS these days?

Also, people always complain about UBI, but what is actually ROCKSTAR doing so great, besides releasing “GTA Games” every couple of years while improving graphics but sadly not the games, so then you have an open world game with great graphics but repetitive and boring gameplay. And yes, GTA V did something new and interesting with its 3-character-switching on the fly, but the missions were the same as boring and repetitive as GTA IV.

The last ROCKSTAR games i really had fun with was every GTA title besides GTA IV and V. RDRII wasn´t a game, it was a lame horse riding simulator with a better story and better characters than the actual game itself. But people obviously forgot about what “playing a game” actually means.

Regarding RDRII, thanks to VORPX i can really enjoy the title and also have fun with it while i can really say “great experience”, but without VORPX, i wouldn´t even bother with it.

Times when devs made videogames because they can make a living with doing what they love doing the most, are over. Today they make videogames to make lots of money and there is no time to bother with “new” stuff let alone someone would risk something, that are indie devs who actually try risky stuff.

So INDIES are our only hope, forget those AAA franchises and companies, those titles take 180 hours to complete with 100%, but are actually fun for approx. 3 hours.

frustratingly, i can find little details on the game engine used

but….since there was some cross content/promotion with Tony hawks 3 in the form of the skating minigame that play so similar i figured it was a version of the Renderware engine

i could find no profile for tony hawks 3 either official or on the cloud so i looked into other games using renderware

got some success with GTA San Andreas in the Beta branch of Vorpx

so close yet so far though…..

i can get 3D and positional tracking in the menues and really annoyingly it does work in the game but only on the rain overlay in the tanker mission. nothing else

in shader authoring, i have access to 5 shaders only, but cannot alter them

    Ralf, my Dude

can you help me in my hour of need?

    vorpx community, any ideas?

this would be an anazing title to experience in VR

Hey there, I’m trying to get GTA IV working in VorpX in 2023 with the first person mod but I can’t seem to get decent 3d in VR because VorpX have taken all R.A.G.E engine game profiles away (both local and cloud profiles)

If anyone could link me to their GTA IV profile (or to a profile for a different R.A.G.E game that would work for GTA IV) g3d or even z3d, you would wholeheartedly make my (and I’m sure many other peoples) days to come!

Thank you, I await your response with the upmost hope and anticipation.

Yeah it sucks that they took out the GTAs but in all honesty, there are tons of good games that work with VorpX.
On my lineup I’ve got about 30 or so that I want to play. Right now I’m plugging through ‘My Time At Portia’ and Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. The first game is unplayable without VorpX but with it… I’m amazed at the quality of 3-D that comes through. I don’t need the ‘VR’, I’m good with G3D. The second one is pretty old but it works alright in Z3D, and the game is awesome so playing through it with something that makes the ships 3D like is good enough for me. Costume Quest, Dungeon Siege 2, XCOM, man I’m retired and even I don’t have enough time to play through all the stuff I want.

Have you tried Colonial Marines? Man that game was GREAT in G3D.

Yes that’s true, but Valve with their next gen standalone Headset and Sony with the PSVR2 will be still available. And in the B2B market the VR Headsets are industry standard in so many company’s, medicine and science etc. and this is irreversible. But we will have to pay much more for our VR Headsets if PC-VR is only possible with B2B Headsets.

I keep my fingers crossed that Metaverse will be successful, but it needs one more important thing to be interesting for the masses, and that is the topic relationships and sex. Mark added the status of the relationships to Facebook and that was the one special thing that made the whole social media thing interesting for most of the people. The success of Instagram is without sexual allusions in the stories unthinkable, too. Everyone who likes porn in general, and has seen a porn in 4K 3D on a VR Headset will buy a VR Headset very soon. But the masses don’t even know what they are missing. And if that will be possible for couples with webcams live in real time, or webcam boys or girls live in real time, it will make the metaverse successful. This 3D Mode can be used just for dating and to get to know without sex, too.

In my opinion the comic style of the metaverse is bullshit, everyone should buy 3D webcams within a chip that that supports hardware encoding of the stream in real time. With the smaller Headsets looking like glasses and wireless streaming in the future, that’s interesting for the B2B market for conferences or just for video calling in the business sector, too. But in the moment the metaverse is ugly and boring, and even the employees of meta have no desire to use it !

I think the metaverse bubble will attract VR Hostiles for example like the CEO of 2K to develop GTA 6 for VR headsets, and many other VR Hostiles to poured billions of dollars into VR. I think that is the reason why he is fighting again the modding scene. I hope that so many people will have a positive experience with VR before Meta fails, that VR will still survive. VR gaming, dating and working isn’t a nerd thing, the masses will like that but not with this ugly uncomfortable metaverse in the moment.

Long story shot, some big editor contacted VR modders to make their franchises unplayable in VR.

So now, the franchises GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands and Bioshock are unplayable in any popular VR mod, not just VorpX.
Could be more franchises, i dont know the full list.

if this is real is a very bad news,

    Ralf posted solution already :)

First please try to update the ScriptHook modding library. It recently got broken by a game update: http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/

If you use other mods, copy it normally to the game folder. If you only use vorpX and no other mods, you can alternatively just copy ScriptHookV.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX\Plugins. vorpX loads it from there if it’s not in the game folder.

    If that does not help:

Try without the dedicated mod portion that comes with vorpX since last summer. Not sure, but I could imagine that it’s not compatible with FiveM. Of course the would disable all the good stuff that the mod provides (better G3D, VR compatible FOV, decoupled walk/look, optimized cameras etc.), but with some luck it *might* at least allow you to play FiveM in immersive screen/cinema mode.

The mod portion of the profile can be disabled by renaming/removing vpxGTAV.dll from the vorpX plugins folder mentioned above.

Simply put. NO. GTA5 REAL mod works in Direct X 11, so why advertise that it is true 3D in all these games. I am willing to pay more money, if that is what this is all about.Thank you for what VORPX does, but it could be so much better with more time investment. I would pay a monthly fee if you had a team on this.
I am very happy with my purchase.

I just want more. Give me Give me Give me. <3

You have to wait for the next update then, sorry. Same situation here: the game specific mod currently is pretty much FullVR centric, so some settings in the menu don’t really have an effect or aren’t available at all. Didn’t really occur to at the time why anyone would want to play a game with FullVR support as close to a native VR title like this in cinema mode.

If you want, you can disable the mod portion entirely, but then you lose all its features (including alternate frame 3d). To do that remove/rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX\Pulgins\vpxGTAV.dll.

I’m not sure if this still works. Since last summer vorpX comes with a dedicated mod for GTA V that ceratinly won’t work in GTA Online, and I have no idea whether it does for FiveM or not.

You can however disable the mod. That will disable all its features like alternate frame 3d, custom cameras, automatic FOV etc, but it might help you. To disable the mod, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX\Plugins and rename vpxGTA5.dll to e.g. vpXGTA5.disabled.

I do not like the native scene. Most of the games are experimental and last 2-3 hours. Just now I play Dishonored 2 and Jedi Fallen Order with VorPx, those are top games and I want to play good games.

Also many games are designed for the Quest, and there are many casual gamers.

Concerning PS5: since this is a closed system, does anybody know whether Sony delivers some suppoert for developers who want to make their games hybrid? If they dont do we will simply not see many hybrid games.

Also I hope for some remakes on the PS5 for VR. They do all kind of remakes for the last of us or GTA 5, a version for PSVR 2 would be appreciated.

As I said I think hybrid gaming is the future, native games will never be really successful.
