    Ralf, great update!

I am having a good time with resident evil 7 on the vive. I notice the video sections are really difficult to play for me because the images come up as blurry double images. You can kinda fumble your way through the first one, but once the second one comes up, which requires a significant time in this mode to complete, it’s impossible to get through without fighting through some discomfort.

I’ve concluded it would be best to just play those segments outside of VR… but if this is ever something on your radar to address, please let me know if I can give you some log files or something to help.

Thanks again for continuing to work on vorpx. It aged like a fine wine :D

Is the teaser demo available on steam compatible with the new vorpx update? Want to give it a try before I purchase the full game.

    Hello,

I just installed the latest vorpx and when I start resident evil 7 I get, “sorry, there was an error on startup (Base: Start). vorpx might not work correcly.”

I am able to start fallout 4 without any problems.

    Please help

    Hi,

I have the same problem: Resi7 starts on the monitor, but not on the vive. I tried to disable the virus scanner and all other tools, I tried the trick with the watcher, but it just won’t start on the vive.
Does anyone has an idea or any suggestion?

    Regards
    Ursus

I was able to solve the issue by starting resident evil over steam vr in cinema mode. Then vorpx was able to hook.

I’m having issues getting vorpx to hook onto RE7. It shows on the monitor but not the vive. I’m loading it through the Xbox app.

I’ve tried the pause/unpause watcher suggestion, but haven’t had luck with that. Are there any other suggestions?

I’m not using any AV, screencapture, etc.

i had similar issue i deleted the local profile then re-imported the cloud one labeled Resident Evil 7 [Vorpx]

Another noob here with cheat engine I followed the instructions best I could however after I input the FOV I want into the value side I can see no change on the headset (I tried 10 through 15). Is there something else I need to do after inputting the value? By the way thanks Optimumbox for sharing this. It would be great to get this working just to spite evil Sony 🙂

Are you freezing the value? If it changes the FOV on screen, it should be reflecting in the headset. Only way it wouldn’t reflect is if it’s not working all together in the first place. 15 should definitely be noticeable.

I don’t ‘think’ I am freezing the value, I don’t see the changes onscreen either so I think I missed something or am not running the Cheat Engine properly. I am not sure, and thanks for the reply. :)

So i know resident evil 7 isn’t sulported yet but I was curious what would cause it to not even open. When i try to start the gsme it comes up like its loading. It then it gets to the capcom logo while at the same time the vive is the normal grey screen and its laggy. Then the game crashes saying re7 crashed. I got it to boot 1 out of 35 tries. All drivers, firmware and directx has been installed.

Whenever I open CE after opening RE7 i get an error saying this game is not compatible with cheat engine and my game closes is there any fix for this?

You can use fileunsigner to remove the signatures on the 3 cheat engine exe(s) to bypass the check.

I used a simple Tool Named FileUnsigner. In my Installation Directory were 3 .exes from Cheat Engine. I dragged all 3 of them over the FileUnsigner (Make sure it Starts with administrator privileges). After all 3 exes are clear start Cheat Engine, then start Resident Evil 7 and if everything works correctly there should be no problems anymore.

    If access denied.
Click right on FileUnsigner.exe and Click Properties.
    add /f to target
    Hope that helps :)

Hey everyone, thought I’d share my work. You’ll need an unsigned version of cheatengine (this is pretty easy to do) I used fileunsigner to remove signatures on my version. From there you need to attach CE to re7 and follow the directions below.

Once attached to re7, click add address manually. The address needed is 05F690C8

Set the value higher than 4 to go above 90 and freeze it by checking the box on CE or pressing space with the address highlighted. After setting it, open the options menu in re7 and go to graphics, then unpause the game. Your fov will change even though it says 70 in the options menu. I’m still working on zoomed fov.

    pfff.

your how to youtube video is just bullshit.

sorry to say that, but there is absolutely no depth at all, headtracking is working but you still have a flat image.

    fov is not high enough.

it’s absolutely not playable, not immersive, nothing.

so no, this game right now doesnt work with vorpx, far from it.

the day when we’ll be able to put 110-120 fov and able to use geometry 3D or at least Z3D then vorpx will work with this game, untill then it’s a big no.

your thread is misleading. you should rename it asap before people get hugely disappointed just like myself.

First of all, it’s not my video, it’s a video I found by somebody else and I thought it would a nice thing to share my findings with other people.

Secondly, I already stated the FOV wasn’t high enough, thank you again for pointing that out captain obvious.

There is depth, head tracking is fine and there is NO flat image, you obviously done something wrong because I am not having this issue. It is definitely playable, incredibly immersive and you’re being obnoxious with your comments.

I don’t care if people LIKE you get disappointed, because people LIKE you, don’t seem to understand that this is far better than nothing.

Don’t come here making accusations and claims if you can’t even get the damn game working properly. Or if you didn’t read through my experience first before trying anything, because you obviously weren’t paying any attention.

I am receiving nothing but thanks everywhere else, and here you are with your salty attitude making claims on something you can’t get working properly.

To sum it up, the video I found isn’t bullshit, YOU are bullshit.

Geometry 3D and a good FOV or it’s worthless.

    Yeah, you’re welcome.

you obviously never played a game with vorpx with geometry 3D, you’ll see what depth is.

i didnt want to be mean to you but i got disappointed, you cant say the game is working with vorpx when it doesnt.

a game working with vorpx means vorpx rendering methods work with that game either geometry 3D or Z3D.

you cant play a game in VR with a fov of 90, not a first person game at least.

and yep image is flat, nothing wrong on my side, i didnt wait for this youtube video to make the game “works” that way, i just uninstalled re7 until this game is really VR ready either with vorpx or official capcom Vr patch.

Video at the bottom but read through experience first.

    My Experience:
Okay so, my experience so far with the Vive: It’s very decent, I’ve just come up to a section with something scary (no spoilers here) and I definitely feel immersed in the game. I’m okay with just using mouse/keyboard, I wouldn’t use my head to turn as it’s slightly delayed, maybe a workaround will come out for that soon. One problem I do find annoying though, the FOV. If you zoom out with VorpX using your middle mouse button, you’ll see how much of the screen you’re actually losing, which is a significant amount. If we could get the head tracking on point and the FOV set right, we wouldn’t need to wait a year for it to be released for Vive and Oculus, it would be official. I did notice a “EnableFovHack” and “FOV” settings in the Re7_Config.ini, but the FOV there seems to be different from in game settings, and I’m not sure what the FOV hack is for, any ideas?

    That’s my opinion anyway.
