For Skyrim there’s a byte in memory that gets set when the game is paused. If you don’t want to write special case code for individual games, is there any way for the community to do it? A VorpX plugin API or something?
Trying VorpX for the first time with Skyrim and it’s really nauseating as the game freezes the camera whenever you interact with an NPC, your inventory, the map, etc. Ideally the game would never pause, but presuming that’s unavoidable with a lot of games, the solution seems to be edge peek mode so you still get some head tracking.
Could VorpX detect that the screen has stopped responding to head tracking and automatically switch into edge peek mode? As an option. Would make playing Skyrim a much smoother experience.
Ralf may I say nice one you absolute legend for your continued service to us all. Skyrim alone in VR was worth the bucks spent. GTA V was like starters main and dessert served on a platter. I’m now anticipating Fallout 4 with the expectant greed of an 18th century French aristocrat.
Awesome!
The new update is awesome too BTW. All the controller emulation bugs seem to be ironed out and gta v and Skyrim have never run better!
Also Looking for good fallout 4 support. Looks like its using a modified Oblivion/skyrim engine so maybe Raf can get it running..

I guess I’m wondering what the plan is as far as getting it running in Vorpx. I personally am considering holding off playing it until its working in VR and that wait will be excruciating! Hopefully since its so similar to Skyrim’s engine, it won’t be too hard.
Yes you’re right Ralf. Thanks. It’s the game issue rather than Vorpx.
On an unrelated note: Skyrim looks amazing with vorpx.
Ah well, cheers for taking the time to reply. I have free view working in Skyrim any way via another method but this would have been much cleaner if viable.
Does this method work in skyrim? Would you be able to add it the profile if it did?
Hi Ralf,
Just wondering what the possibility of adding a free view mode would be for games that are compatible with positional tracking? Perhaps an assumption on my part but could you not use the positional tracking data to handle rotation as well as the positional data – this would come in really handy in games such as Skyrim, it would allow users to retain complete native controller support as headtracking wouldn’t be dependent on the mouse any longer. Maybe even have it so you could toggle it on or off via a hotkey.
Cheers
Cy
If your running into slow down try using some of the memory patches for better performance. It helps out anyway but with VR the better performance helps a lot. Same with skyrim.
Hi,
have you tried to disable ambient occlusion in the nvidia control panel, this fixed black flicker in games like skyrim for me and also doubled my fps in games, when using vorpx.
I have been able to reproduce this black artifact in cinema mode as well as in real 3d mode with skyrim. and the fact is that in the lowest settings there are no black artifacts in skyrim
like you witouht vorpx i can play these games maxxed without a difficulty and all other dk2 games are running flawlessly so you re probably both right : its a matter of workload and this workload probably is added by the new vorpx reconstructing the 3d image in the the new runtime environment
Hi again Ralph, it seems that you’re (as usual ? :) ) right…I still have artifacts, even with 358.50. I have tested Skyrim and no artifacts whith lower graph settings… I can understand for Skyrim that perf matters but with Alan Wake (old) a 970 SLI and i53570K must be largely enough :(
Disabled Battleye from the launcher worked for (w7 or 0.7), it freezes randomly and its a pitty because its an amazing experience
A bit off topic but I started to play it stand up and controlling my rotation direction with the headset and using a wiimote and nunchuck for other controls, I do the same in skyrim, simply amazing, Im considering seriously make a ODT just for thise two games with vorpx
