Hi i updated to the vorpx version vorpx recommends for W3 next gen latest patch. I am unable to change to G3D , further fov adjustment dont change anything, to me the game looks like z3d. I tried both DX11 and DX12. I have some mods installed ( the same mods i used to play in G3D goty installed) So what are the recommended setup to get next gen to run in G3D ? THX 4 hlp.

All right, I got it. I will try it with The Witcher 3 Classic v1.32, vorpX v21.3.5 and the “Gervant First Person” Mod. After some testing, I’ll let you know how well it worked. Thanks for help.

vorpX v21.3.5/Witcher 3 Classic should work with the first person mod since in that case vorpX doesn’t install a Witcher mod by itself.

24.1.0 however probably won’t work with camara mods since it comes with it’s own camera mod for auto-FOV and DirectVR 3D.

You might get lucky with 24.1.0 and the Witcher 3 Script Merger, but since both the vorpX mod and the first person mod affect the camera that probably won’t work as expected.

Hi Ralf, thanks for your response. I tried vorpX v21.3.5 with The Witcher 3 Classic (v1.32) and vorpX v24.0.1 (Beta) with The Witcher 3 Next Gen Version (v4.04) as well. Both profiles are working.

I just hope to find a way to get any First Person Mod running. It was possible with an old Mod and the Classic Version, but unfortunately this Mod is not available anymore. That’s why I wanted to ask here if anyone knows another way.

Hello, I saw an old video from the youtuber VoodooDE who tested The Witcher 3 v1.31 with a First Person mod and vorpX:

Sadly, this First Person Mod is not available anymore on Nexus, but there is another First Person Mod called “Gervant First Person”. The Mod is available for the Next Gen (v4.04) and Old Gen (v1.31-v1.32). From what I know, vorpX 21.3.5 supports the Classic “Old Gen” Version and vorpX 24.0.1 (Beta) supports the Next Gen Version (v4.04) of the Witcher 3.

Is it still possible to play the Witcher 3 (Classic or Next Gen) in First Person with VorpX? I tried to start The Witcher 3 (v4.04 – Next Gen) together with the “Gervant First Person” Mod and VorpX(v24.0.1), but it does not work. VorpX starts with a Warning “Other mods seem to be present. If you encounter any issues, try to remove all mods except modVpxwitcher3 from your Witcher 3 mod folder. Especially camera mods may clash with the vorpX mod.” After that vorpX crashes.

Anyone out there got it to run?

Turns out the latest game patch broke the connection mod scripts for DirectVR FOV adjustment and DirectVR 3D (modifies the actual game camera for 3D instead of ‘normal’ G3D/Z3D). Luckily since a while stuff like this can be updated independently from main vorpX.

Next time you launch the game with vorpX active you should receive a message about some missing/updated profile components. This message may appear twice in some cases. Make sure to do click ‘Yes’ when this message comes up.

IMPORTANT: vorpX 24.1.0 and the latest Witcher 3 version are required!

Now it works with the classic version of witcher and vorpx no beta. The only problem is errors in g3d. Probably the next gen version with direct VR should work better, so we’re really looking forward to it)

Quick tip: Witcher 3 on steam is one of those rare games that allow you to launch directly from the exe, even without steam running. Or at least my classic install does.

I stored a full backup of Witcher 3 classic before installing the Next Gen update, and renamed to something like witcher311.exe. I assigned this renamed exe to a copy of the old vorpX profile, and now I can run classic and next gen on two separate profiles.

But I just play classic really. I agree, it was perfect already, and looked better. I already had HD texture mods and over the shoulder camera mod.

All good, you don’t have to convince me. Personally I couldn’t care less, the game was perfect in its original state already. Whatever tweaks they may have made gameplay wise could never outweigh the serious graphics downgrade for me, which quite obviously makes the “next-gen” version worse than the original unless you turn on raytracing. But who am I.

Judging from the vorpx error message you got (“This version of vorpX only works with The Witcher 3 4.0 or higher.”) the current profile already is for the next-gen update (which is 4.0). I just had forgotten about that apparently.

No clue why it’s broken again now, thus I can’t promise anything before I checked, but I will do that.

Thanks for looking at the profile. I really appreciate that.
There is another good IGN video about the Next Gen Update which is more focused on the new features:

Unfortunately the ‘Witcher 3 wird schöner’ (‘Witcher 3 gets prettier’ for non-German speakers) part is only true for RTX raytracing. For non-raytracing the exact opposite is true – probably intentionally to make raytracing stand out more in comparisons.

The first video you linked explitely demonstrates one of the issues, the downgraded shadows, at 5:48. And that’s not the only thing they did to make non-raytracing graphics look worse than before.

That aside: I didn’t recall that I already updated the profile for the next gen patch as the error message you get suggests… Thanks for the heads-up. :) Not sure why it’s broken again then, but I’ll have a look.

Hello, good to hear that we may get a working profile soon. I tried a Steam downgrade to the Classic Version 1.32 as well, but VorpX refuses to start the game. “This Version of VorpX only works with The Witcher 3 4.0 or higher. Please make sure you have the latest The Witcher 3 version.” I don’t see any other official (Classic) profile in my local VorpX database. My VorpX Version is 24.1.0.

There are two interesting Gamestar test videos about the Witcher 3 Next Gen v4.0 update:

Beside the graphic aspect and some new features of the next Gen Version, isn’t it also about bug fixing (v1.32 ==> v4.04)? I have a VR potato anyway (Nvidia RTX 3060 mobile bottleneck), soo I’m fine with a working Classic profile as well.

Hello Ralf. Do we get a profile Update for the Witcher 3 “Next Generation Patch”?
The official profile is not working anymore.

And I could really use a brief “This is how things should be done and look like” docu, so that I can use VorpX as intended and tell if my system is working properly or not.

I fully agree about the last part. One of the reasons i haven’t updated for awhile is not only that i don’t know what will work and not work anymore (Witcher 3 classic version for example), but because there’s no detailed documentation and tutorials. And when people need to come here and ask the same questions over and over again, it wastes not only the users’ time, but Ralf’s time as well.

I’m aware that one developer can do only so much, but i wanted to mention this as a point that needs improvement. And yes, i know of the in-built tutorial for the gestures (?) and the tips that get displayed while loading. But i’m one of the people who reads/watches the documentation *before* they upgrade. :)
