Thanks for the update, really looking forward to the next VorpX version, mainly because of Sims 4 xD
Thanks for the heads-up. It’s not a placeholder, but will only work with the next vorpX version since it uses a game specific shader parser for creating stereo 3D that isn’t available in the current release. Shader parsers are written directly in C++ and thus new parsers can only be provided with new vorpX versions.
I’ll re-upload the database without the Sims 4 profile for now to avoid further confusion. You can expect support for the game in the next vorpX. Works great.
By the way, I noticed a new The Sims 4 profile set to geometry and a warning about 3D strength in first person, yet there’s no G3D to be seen in it, is it a placeholder for a work in progress?
I guess my main goal is that I want to play a bunch of my older games in VR, but still want to use my Xbox controller and don’t want any head tracking or the “mouse look” defaulted to on and using head tracking (because sometimes that makes me sick).
So thanks for the response and info, going to place my order and dig through my Steam Library and see what I’ve got.
One last question, does Vorpx work with games other than on Steam? I have some GOG games I got from Humble Bundle and actually a couple DVDs (Sims 4, couple others) I would like to check out w/ Vorpx … or do the games need to be in my Steam Library? If so no problem I can add them in.
no, it can literally be connected to any .exe file on your computer. What happens is like this – when you first get the program youre going to have a list of games under “Local Profile” (itll be a setting on the program on your pc, not in your headset); these Local Profiles are already made and ready to go and will attach to any .exe that launches on the computer that matches the .exe in the profile. So like Bioshock or Dishonored are already ready to start, on steam or off GoG, wherever you like.
As far as supported games, the ‘unofficial list’ has like 700 games on it i think, but in your local profiles will be 100 or so, i think. If you want to find a game not in the local profiles, youll see an option for “cloud profiles”, go there and type like “Call of Cthulu” and any profiles users have made will pop up on the list, you select it and hit “import file” on the right side and then hit apply and vorpx will just be waiting for you to launch “call of Cthulu” or “bioshock”, just waiting to see the .exes get used and then it jumps in and does its thing.
If you have any problems with programs and need to launch without Vorpx, but still have it ‘on’, on the bottom right corner of your start bar will be the Vorpx icon, right click it and click “pause watcher” – thatll effectively make vorpx go into hibernation and not look for .exes being launched, right click it again and click “resume watcher” to make vorpx start looking for .exes being launched again.

Hi, I decided to create this topic since I finally finished testing every single profile to my knowledge on this game.
Barely anything works, but there’s one profile, ‘Anna’, which manages to grab various elements in this game and reconstruct them as G3D, however it can’t reconstruct enough things to make it playable.
My question with this topic is if it would even be possible to create G3D for this game, since it seems it’s somewhat affected already.
The Sims 4; Sims 3 works with Unity profiles such as Anna with minor glitches with g3d and pos tracking, but Sims 4, even if it manages to get g3d and pos most of the geometry doesn’t move while other geometry does, making the game really messy and not really playable. I’m not even sure if it’s possible to make this game official, I only know it somewhat works with Unity profiles.
Same here, I’m experiencing the same problems.
I wish there was a profile that could work with the game.
Also, when in first-person mode, the head-tracking is kinda wonky.

After really delving into vorpX for the first time with FO3 I’m very impressed overall. The lounge mode is a godsend for those of us who are playing games that don’t suit full VR well. Plus I can play games that way for hour without issue, whereas a full-VR game like Skyrim VR I’m only at about 15 or 20 minutes before nausea sets-in (I’m absolutely fine with seated racing-sims however).
One observation: Parts of the Configure vorpX app do not comply with scaled-screen settings. I run a 1080p display at 4K resolution and then scaled to 250%. I have specific reasons to do this and don’t want to have to switch back to regular 1080p. However, it makes parts of the Configure vorpX app unreadable as they appear not to scale at all (IIRC it is all of the “help” text sections which do not scale).
A Question: Is it possible for me to turn off specific notifications? When running the vorpX Desktop app I get a message flashing in the upper-left corner that I have to dismiss every time with a key-combination. And when I’m showing the FPS with the built-in vorpX utility it continually nags me that I’m not getting 90fps. I would really like to be able to turn those notifications off if possible, but without using the “Hide Less Important Notifications” function.
Last Question: If I turn on the “G3D Shader Authoring” function will I be able to tweak fundamental settings to try and fix things like the Fallout 3 Pip Boy and Terminal screen issues? Or are the provided profiles simply as good as they can possibly get? I’m used to having to fiddle with profiles with other products and might put in some time if there is a reason to do so, but I don’t want to just bang my head against a wall if the reality is that I’m not going to be able to correct issues like those.
Thanks!
Hi everybody,
After a long fight against my computer (and BitDefender), I was able to launch my Sims 4 game on my Oculus Rift.
I was very excited but when I’ve seen the screen, desillusion was mine…
Check this, did you have a hint or a solution ?
I’ve download a profile from the cloud.
Thx in advance !

P.s. : It’s work inside my rift by I have the same screen…
Nice post :-) I got few titles lined up:
– Skyrim SE
– Morrowind (pity it does not work with distant lands)
– GTA V
– Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
– Mafia
– Mafia II
– A Story About My Uncle (is surprisingly nice in vorpX)
– Giants: Citizen Kabuto (idem; this is a fantastic retro)
and I hoped also for some of my sims: Flight Sim World, Il-2 1946, Il-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz and Rise of Flight… however unfortunately these do not work in 3D (but are fun also in 2D).
The question is – when will I get the time to give all these a shot? :-)
Milan
Would really love to see Sims4 in VR too.
Isnt there a way to get the Zoomed in “First-Person” view to get controlled via headset movement?
I’m just wondering if it is a possibility.
Morning Ralf, Welcome to Friday!
Trying to get Strike Fighters 2 with Oculus Commercial version (running on an i7 4970K, Win7 SP2 machine with a Zotac 1070 AMP edition video) running and the Vorpx is essentially ignoring the SF2 completely. I’ve gotten the system working rudimentarily working with ROF and to the menus with Falcon BMS 4.33 (no 3D accees yet, obviously and why DOES it say that there’s a BMS profile already existing, but not reference to it in the config area!!??), but not getting anything at all out of Strike Fighters 2 (North Atlantic as a start), just the message in the Oculus screen that it’s ‘taking too long and to check the app in Windows…’).
SF2 is running as DX10 minimum req’s, but compatible with DX11+. I’ve tried going in and copying, locally, a profile for something that was a DX9-10 basis profile, assigning the SF2 .exe file and saving, but I can’t get the options in the config to allow for the FOV, forcing DX version compatibility, etc., even with the ‘Advanced’ options checked. Since I can’t get the .exe to pull up in the VR, at all, I can’t use the in-line menu display system to edit anything to try. Is there some place that all of that can be manually edited for the entire profile for the .vpp/.vpr files as a line item edit? What editor needs to be used?
SF2 would be really nice to get working in VR as the cockpits are at times very well built and detailed in the 3D models and well rendered hi-res skins for doing 3D steroscopic display…. plus there’s no other sims out there currently doing 60’s-70’s a/c -;7.
Any ideas or have you or anyone else gotten either Strike Fighters 2 or the earlier Wings over Vietnam, Europe, Isreal, etc. (https://store.thirdwire.com/store.htm) working with the VorpX/Oculus?
Also, any other help we can all get trying to get Falcon 4.x behaving would also be appreciated, greatly!!!!!! We all dearly want our Bouncing Baby Vipers to work in VR!!
Thanks for the hand and have a great weekend!
