I gave up on the dual boot idea – I believe I can only install vorpx once, plus I am always careful what I install for the reasons RJK mentions. I didn’t want to start installing two Oculus Homes, two vorpxs, etc.

I’ve tried running things every way I can think of – shortcuts, admin, compatibility modes, disk version, steam version.

Every time it is the same – the game runs in flat screen, but the same error appears when I try to use vorpx. I give up.

(I did start looking for a cracked version of GTA4, but I am always put off by the suspicious pop ups and fear of viruses).

Not the end of the world, but I must admit, it was probably the one game I really bought Vorpx for, and after all that the only thing I’ve achieved is buying a pointless second copy of the game LOL

Sad to hear that headtracking doesnt work, i guess there is nothing Ralf can do either if its not already working.. I was thinking of buying that software for a test, but now.. Good that you mentioned that. BTW: are you aware of these ?

A dual boot must be set up very carefully because certain software scans all existing drives for dlls ect. I wouldnt wonder if that dual boot has something to do with your problem. Disconnect the second drive for a test.

Really disappointed. I bought it on Steam and I still have the problem. The ame runs fie in flat screen. But when I start Vorpx and then start GTA4, I get the error message ‘seculauncher failed to start application 2000’

I have tried starting everything as admin (Steam, GTA4, Vorpx, Oculus home). I’ve tried installing various C++ 2005 redistributables, x64 & x32, and it still throws up the same error.

I search and find many people with the same problem, twice as many different views on how to fix it, but no definitive answers that have been proven to work.

If anyone recognises this error and has succeeded in getting past it and running Vorpx I would really appreciate them posting here.

    Cheers :)

I was going to create profiles for some gmotor engine games, but they all have in common (also the Rfactor Official Profile) that all speedmeters appear only in one eye, even when 3D Stereo is OFF, so i rather decided to put them aside because that one eye thing is quite annoying.

Just want to report that, itsnot a recent thing, i can confirm this has appeared already in voprx 18.2.4. There was no way to fix that through shader settings ect.

    alright, thanks ^^

is it worth it to get odyssey+ over regular htc vive ? i’m looking for something more comfortable, because right now, even with DAS, my htc vive is not comfortable at all, i got this comfort issue since day one (april 2016), tried everything, custom foams, prescription lenses to avoid using my glasses, DAS, custom made extra support to ease the pain around my nose, forehead, my htc vive now looks like a heavy prototype headset :DDDD

i’d really love a new shining comfortable headset.

Hi there, I’ve been using VorpX for World of Warcraft with Oculus, and it’s been great.

Wow has updated the game (“Tides of Vengenace” update), and suddenly VorpX does not connect to it. It tries, and it says “Attaching to Wow.exe”, but after a while, Wow starts up normally, and then VorpX puts up another dialog: “This takes quite a while. If you suspect the program hangs or you don’t want to use vorpX with to it, click the according button”. I choose Do nothing, but there’s Wow running without VorpX.

It’s like VorpX can’t “talk” to Wow anymore after their update? It thinks Wow didn’t respond or that it hung. Though it maybe works partially, because it still redirects audio to the Oculus Rift.

I stopped Oculus and VorpX and restarted them fresh, but still the same. Plus Oculus software then updated itself, but still no luck even after that.

    Please help? Thanks!

I wonder if this outdoes the Pimax 5k in now, since screen displays were showing that as being sharper than the Odyssey+. That’s crazy you couldn’t run things natively by default though.

Support of VORPX missing, therefore misses opportunity to be used at basically all other non-vr games
Support of VORPX missing, therefore misses opportunity to be used at basically all other non-vr games.

Vorpx tool provides ways of using any game in virtual reality, could be OVRDrop made in a way, that it would be displayed also over VORPX game overlay for example in GTA5?

I started also thread at VORPX site here – https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/ovrdrop-overaly-app-doesnt-work-as-in-other-vr-games/

    thank you

OVRdrop is powered by SteamVR, and thus can only be seen when SteamVR is running and rendering. vorpX can also be made to run through SteamVR, and thus OVRdrop should be visible in vorpX games when rendering through SteamVR. I have not tested this, but if vorpX is running as a proper SteamVR title, then OVRdrop should be visble and functional.

You will need to set vorpX to run through SteamVR. OVRdrop is only supported by SteamVR at this time, as opposed to something like Oculus Home. OVRdrop works with Oculus Rift and other non-SteamVR-first HMDs, but only when SteamVR is the SDK rendering to the headset. I would be happy to add support for other SDKs when they support the vital functions of OVRdrop, however at this time no other SDK that I know of supports the things OVRdrop needs.

That’s true, thank you, it was due to my Oculus, I uninstalled oculus software maybe unnecessarily , used pimax glasses, and configured in VORPX steam support instead of oculus, and it started to work, although my ovrdrop windows was behind

as since pc games use the same control keyboard, I usually cannot control the game, when different window is activated in windows than the game, and I don’t know if there is any way to overcome this.

I’m very meticulous with excluding non game exe services and processes.
The other thing is I only use windows defender and certainly didn’t delete the 64 bit version. I am using a pimax but correct me if I’m wrong all openvr hmd are seen as the same thing?

There is something wrong with your individual machine/setup. If repairing DotNet or using the installer linked above does not help/work, the only viable option probably is reinstalling Windows.

Alternatively you can use vorpX without the config app, the only thing that strictly has to be set up with the config app is the headset type. To do that mannually:

    1. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Animation Labs\vorpX
    2. Open vorpX.ini with an editor
    3. Set sDeviceIniName like described below.

For all SteamVR headsets (Vive, WMR, Pimax etc): sDeviceIniName=HTCViveCV1
    For Oculus headsets: sDeviceIniName=OculusRiftCV1

If you can’t see the C:\ProgramData folder, enable ‘Show hidden files’ in the Windows Explorer options.

I searched and found the post:
“@ LukeRoss: Need for Speed: Most Wanted [2005] and Assassin’s Creed 2 have been fixed in vorpX 18.1.0 last month.”

    I installed vorpX.

I tried the local NFSMW profile. It didn’t work

I saw an error “NFS13.exe” not supported or recognized. I noticed the app was listed as “speed.exe”
I copied it to a new profile and pointed it to NSF13.exe
    It didn’t work.

I went to cloud profiles and found “Need for Speed: Most Wanted [2005] [vorpX]” selected Apply and launched the game.
    That didn’t work
I tried using the “Import Profile” button. It *said* it worked but nothing changed and I could not find a new listing in my Local list.
    It still didn’t work.

The best result I have, so far, is an error stating NSF13.exe is not supported and the app will be displayed in 2D immersive mode.

This is one of the top reasons I purchased vorpX.

Please tell me what I need to do to get it to work.

    Thanks!

I’ve gotten this working via dgVoodoo2 with G3D, but I’ve hit a bit of a snag.

In order to make the game sync the audio with the video, you have to turn force v-sync on in the dgvoodoo control panel (turning vsync on via nvidia control panel does nothing). However, when I run the game with vorpx, the vsync is turned off and the video runs faster than the audio, which results in audio that gets cut off (most noticably during cut scenes). Any way around this?

I’ve been holding off on uploading the profile to the cloud in case this is something that can be fixed via the vorpx profile, but I’m still fairly new at vorpx tinkering, so I could be wrong there.

OVRDrop overlay app doesn’t work as in other Vr games, I disabled ignoring overlay app settings in vorpx config->general->misc, but inside the game OVRdrop nothing of it is displayed.

I would like to be able to chat or use my windows desktop from GTA5 for example sitting on the beach, using OVRdrop app. OVRdrop was displayed for a few while but alone, but then the GTA5 game with vorpx disappeared with only empty steam cone – used on Oculus, it looks like only vorpx game or OVRdrop can be displayed, but not both at the same time, any clues?

    Thanks

In reply to: Alt Tab Support?

    Ralf
    Keymaster

It’s not possible to ALT+TAB between the desktop viewer and a game vorpX is attached to. vorpX runs either ‘inside’ a game or the desktop viewer. It can not run inside two programs at the same time.

You can play windowed games using the desktop viewer though by disabling the vorpX watcher after starting the desktop viewer. That way ALT+TAB works, but since vorpX doesn’t hook into the game directly you lose all functionality that vorpX provides when it runs directly inside a game (most importantly stereo 3D), so that’s usually not something you should do.
