If you mean how the fov inside the vehicles feels way too zoomed in, Far Cry 5 is the same way. Vehicle/weapon/hand models seem to be fov locked, independent of world fov changes. Not sure anything can be done about this.
Best way I found to deal with it was to zoom the screen out until it felt more comfortable behind the steering wheel. This works best with immersive screen fully zoomed out to 1.00, or cinema mode around -0.15. Yeah you’ll see some bars on top and bottom of screen, but it can still be a neat 3D experience.
Speaking of 3D though…
@ Ralf: my brief testing in FC4 tonight showed Geometry no longer working. Pretty sure it used to work pre update.
Z3D works, but it’s having the exact problem I noticed with FC5 – ground textures are failing to load properly. I suspect this for all dx11 Dunia profiles. Something a simple tweak might fix?
First off, I’m aware that ENB/SweetFX/etc isn’t supported, which is why I’m only asking for an older version.
After the latest automatic update, I can’t get the enb injector (not the wrapper, which uses conflicting dll files) to hook along with vorpX. This worked fine in every version until now.
This was needed to play Skyrim with Vorpx and graphics mods, now this isn’t possible.
I’ve ruled out everything else mentioned in the troubleshooting guide, ruled out any conflicting program, the only difference in this case is the new version.
I was holding off on Skyrim VR until mods catch up and important things like SkyUI are working some day.
I’ve also searched for similar threads & questions, they generally don’t get answers or replies, so I also sent a support email in case these get handled that way.
Thanks for responding Ralf. I checked already for the fn+key thing but neither of the “htpc” keyboards i use on my system(which is in living rm) have a Home or End. every other key including scroll-lock and print scr, but not home/end heh go figure…
Look forward to the next build….
It’s hardwired currently, sorry. I’ll add it to the configurable keys for the next version.
Most keyboards without this block of keys have a function key that emulates the missing keys via a Fn+Something shortcut. Maybe that would work until then.
For both actually. Nothing you can improve for the old one, pretty much has all possible bells and whistles including automatic FOV, DirectVR headtracking etc.
I haven’t even purchased yet (still trying to find out if it works with Samsing Odyssey in Steam!) BUT I have read that the program looks at a game the first time you play it, then when you close, it then it creates/changes the profile and that is reflected the next time you play.
SO,. the fix would be to,.
1) Re install the VORPX update / software, from scratch (even removing Documents Profile folder etc (OR MAYBE JUST THE ENTRY IN THE INI, FOR YOUR GAME THAT IT MADE LAST NIGHT?: I haven’t seen anything to do w/ VORPX yet, so is all general advice…
2) run the game once again, like before, but this time, (maybe before even opening your game!): TURN OFF the ‘auto’ FOV and auto’ VOPRX’y stuff, or SAVE a Profile when the game works, and you can get back to that maybe?
I was devouring info, trying to decide to purchase,. Still am) The person had had good game display at first then went to crap next time they opened it! So, essentially the advice I read, was to turn off the auto Vorpx stuff (I forget the exact term ) and to set FOV Manually! :)
Can I ask YOU some questions?
1) SO you think VORPX is worth it?
2) Do you think the ‘$28.. ‘Promo code sites’ that sell VORPX out there are real and I could upgrade ??
3) I really only want to play a simple STar Trek (3D Direct-X I think) game made in Unreal 4 (and works in 3D Vision) does that sound like something that could be VR display?
4) finally, can you be IN VR AND in a Third Person game (like, just, an OFFSET would be fine! (Or can you MOVE the Offset with like the Thumbstick LOL CAMERAMAN!! ) That would be cool..
I found a nice middle-ground so far, actually using immersive mode, which I haven’t used much in the past, but I’m going to consider from now on I think. I find it works extremely well for this game. The first thing I noticed was that everything seemed larger and more “real”. Made a separate post on it.
I’ve decided to lean more on scale for this game – with a more conservative, but natural feeling 3D. I like the landscape and buildings to feel large.
I’ve put my Pimax 4k profile settings on the cloud for anyone interested. I set FOVScale=1.46000 in Documents\Assassin’s Creed Odyssey\ACOdyssey.ini, and used 16:10 resolution (3648×2280) for best results.
You may have luck getting things to pop better by upping the fov (like 160+), and zooming the screen out some. Also upping the depth weighting of course. Things will look smaller, but should have deeper layering.
First and foremost the usual Star Citizen disclaimer: The game is indeed abolutely unsupported because it is changing constantly.
Anyway, I’ll check it on occasion, but won’t make any promises at all. Can’t really think of any vorpX 18.3.0 change that might have caused that. Maybe some odd coincidence with a smaller game update.
What you can do yourself is renaming StarCitizen.exe to something else and then create a custom profile based on the existing one for this renamed .exe. That would allow you to check whether something can be done via shader authoring.
Hey I know it’s not formally supported but the 18.3 update made it so the lighting doesn’t work properly in star citizen anymore (it was fine prior to that, even in the new 3.3 PTU, so it’s not an update on star citizen’s end that has broken things). I have tried to have a go with the shader authoring tools but that requires you to make a user profile and I can’t do that because I can’t assign the starcitizen.exe to a different profile – anyway – Ralf it would be awesome if you could take a look (there is a small but dedicated group of us who play in VR and vorpx is the by far the best way to do it) or make it so we can try and get the shader authoring going by allowing us to make custom profiles etc that would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you for your quick response!! The switching between windowed and fullscreen in game suggestion worked, though not at first. I think what did the trick was launching the game *with* VorpX, and only then switching from windowed to fullscreen, with VorpX there to “see” that change. That restored everything. I am so relieved.
Other than that, it was already on DirectX 11, and yes, it was the grey cursor that was missing, and Alt+C wasn’t bringing it back.
You could try to change the ‘G3D Shadow Treatment’ option i the vorpX menu (image page). That will allow you to disable them in places were they are particularly borked.
Caveat: sometimes not all shadows might be defined correctly since it’s impossible to play through games completely when doing a profile. Let me know whether the option does anything for the offending ones.
Odd, nothing has changed since last night in terms of vorpX. Works fine here.
One thing you could try is switching between windowewd/fullscreen in the game options.
Also make sure the ‘Graphics API’ option is set to ‘DirectX 11’. vorpX should take care of that automatically, but you can ckeck in the game options (Menu>System>Advanced).
Cursor: the game uses a ‘hardware cursor’ that can’t be duplicated in 3D, you should see a grey vorpX cursor instead. Try ALT+C to toggle it on/off in case the cursor visibility detection somehow failed.
Ralf, everything is awesome, runs perfect. I was just wanting to test something. The official profile for Prey (2017) only does z-normal and z-adaptive. The engine is CryEngine 4. I saw elsewhere on the forums where someone used a CryEngine 3 profile for a CryEngine 4 game with G3D. I attempted to change the name of prey.exe in order to attempt using the Crysis 3 game profile, but it won’t run if I do that. I was hoping I could ask if you could test out whether the Crysis 3 profile would hook with Prey 2017 and whether it would interpret the 3D. I’ve been playing Prey 2017 and its awesome, but the Z3D is strange for some upclose textures. Whenever you have the time or ability, I’d appreciate it. I’m sure you’re busy.
Hi there,
Last night I got upgraded to 18.3. Installation kept failing, and I had to install manually, but in the end installed.
Then played Wow last night… it was AMAZING. Most of the issues with not being able to focus on certain things with 2 eyes were fixed and I had a great experience.
This morning, ran up Wow again, and it’s a disaster! Not playable.
- When you start up, and after you press Ctrl+Alt+Shift to clear the initial message, the mouse is “trapped” in a 2×2 inch square near the logo
- I press Alt-Tab to “get out” of the tiny window that the mouse is trapped in
- On the monitor, the game resolution is the full 1920×1200 and looks normal
- I see the Wow mouse cursor when I move the mouse, but cannot click any buttons in the game as if mouse clicks do not register. Keyboard is fine
- When you put the headset on, however, the game area is squished into a square aspect ratio
- Also, there is no mouse cursor, though you can see buttons in the game light up as the invisible mouse cursor rolls over them
Why oh why couldn’t it have remained the same as last night? All I did was exit Wow and re-launch this morning!
Things I’ve tried
- Reset my game profile for Wow
- Restart computer
I don’t understand what has happened. It’s completely unusable now and I could cry because I actually have some time to play this weekend, and it’s wrecked.
Please help, Thanks!
Sandra
