Every single thing I launch… Desktop viewer quits. They work fine if VorpX attaches normally. I tried making the games windowed, everything. Witcher 3, Watch Dogs, Far Cry 4, RDR2, Assassins Creed, Control, Star Wars Fallen Order…

“Small” windowed game like emulators work, even in fullscreen. Is desktop viewer simply not meant for games? Everything else works. Bigscreen works with these games… was hoping to try them in Vx.

Hi Chris,
I have the same issue with not seeing the footprints with Geometry 3D, though I see the smell-traces. They are hard to see and sometimes it depends on the angle.
Anyway, for the footprints my workaround is activating Witcher Senses on the Minimap in the options. When using these, small magnifying glasses appear in the minimap and you can follow the tracks in that way.

If you guys are looking for something kinda bioware style from jade empire days, I have been playing Greedfall in Vorpx with a profile someone posted, isnt G3d… but ill give you the breakdown.

Its not as massive as like Dragon Age origins is but its got a pretty big game world and lore and looks nice in immersive screen mode and has a unique backstory, but, it has its quirks, not a gigantic game like Witcher 3 but something you might get some time out of.

I am hijacking this thread for a different question related to Witcher 3: when using Geometry 3D I cannot see any footprints or smells when I use the Witcher senses. In Z3D it is working. Does anyone else have this problem or could it be a problem with my settings/Friendly HUD mod?

Nikolai, I have a couple of newbie questions:

I installed immersive Cam and FOV mod.

What I don’t understand is:
1. How do I move the can in front of Geralt head?
2. How do I bind zoom out to Witcher sense
3. How do I modify vorpx settings to your values? I cannot find a config file
4. When I’m in combat or on the horse, Vorpx automatically switches me out of fullvr, how do I keep it in full VR?

Hi Ralf, i hope you had an enjoyable Christmas time!

I just came back home after a few days abroad and updated to the current version.

Immediately i discovered an issue: Witcher 3 in Immersive Screen is stretched vertically. I use a 16:9 resolution i set in-game (2560×1440), and on the monitor it shows fine, native resolution, proper aspect ratio.

In VorpX though, the Immersive Screen is stretched vertically (it looks like 16:10 or something similar) and all perfect circles in menus etc are ellipses now.

I imported a saved profile from before, same issue. Is there a new setting somewhere, or is this a new bug?

I hope i/we can fix it – i just can’t enjoy playing like this. And, you know, this time of the year is the best time for playing games (and the most :)…

It is strange if the value is device auto = off, then why in the new version it began to feel when FluidSync off (the picture began to float), I had not noticed this before. The fact is, if you leave FluidSync turned on (as you recommend), then there will be no performance, the GPU will load no more than 50%, as you imagine playing the same Metro 2033 or The Witcher 3, in these games even 45 fps will not , in the FluidSync mode on, the FPS does not rise above 45 frames, even if there is a margin in performance, this is somehow not right, if possible, it should be aimed at 90 frames, as happened in the device auto (or off) mode.

Well, I don’t know, I’ll try playing in FluidSync off mode again, if it is really bad, I’ll put it in auto mode or on, as you advise. Thanks again for your help, and a merry Christmas.

Hello,

I have a question – i am trying to set up the Witcher 3, in overall it run very good, but something what i cant set-up is to detach the HUD.

I know i can scale the HUD but i would like to detach only HUD from the headtracking.

At now the HUD is following my head, i would like to move my head but keep the HUD in fixed position – that would allow me to keep HUD larger and look by moving the hed to options which i have higher or lower.

Many thanks to Ralf for opening up VorpX for future games with the DX12 implementation. I was sure it will happen at some point when some über-popular game gets released.

No reason to worry about Cyberpunk 2077 anymore, i guess… I’m very excited. For RDR2 as well, but i don’t see finishing The Witcher 3 any time soon in the next two months (after 40 hrs i’m only level 10)… :-D

Hi Ralf!

Since i got my Rift S, i played through The Witcher and The Witcher 2 and had wonderful experiences in Immersive Screen mode (nitpicks: TW1 crashes often with mods, probably an engine problem; and TW2’s shadows were glitchy – they had some parallax errors). Now i just started The Witcher 3 and am still tweaking some settings.

I play in Z-Normal, because i don’t want to lose shadows, and it runs well.

Q1: What settings could i tweak to minimize the distortion on the ground in front of me? Would it be better if i set the curvature of the screen to 0? Does the Near/Far weighting have any effect? Or does the 3D strength? Is the distortion worse with bigger or smaller FOV?

Q2: In Z-Normal the particles don’t render in the same focal plane (fire, particles from bombs etc). Can this be tweaked without breaking something else?

Haha, we seem to have the same taste in games. I can’t wait to play Jedi: Fallen Order, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is also on my list of the best games of 2019.

It would be a tragedy if those two games don’t work in VorpX, because there is almost nothing new worthwhile to play these days.

That said, there is guy (i think his name is Luke Ross) on Reddit who just published a VR mod for GTA5 that works without VorpX. He also said that it should be theoretically possible to do the same thing for RDR2. Don’t nail me on the details, but those infos are quite fresh and can be found on the Oculus and VirtualReality reddits.

While an odd site here or there adds windows 8 (not dx12 capable) to the compatible list, the official requirements only mention 7 and 10 (same as Modern Warfare).

This makes me a little nervous, though I’m trying to be optimistic about the Rockstar official requirements page leading with the phrase “Red Dead Redemption 2 has been specifically developed to perform on a wide range of machines”.

There are info rumors derived from data mining that reference both dx11 and dx12 support, including ultra settings and features. I have no doubt there will indeed be support for 12, I just hope the 11 part is true also.

Counting the days for it myself. Apart from perhaps the new Jedi game, this is the only game I’m looking forward to anymore this holiday. Almost as excited as I was for Witcher 3. It’s too late Ralf ;) . Would be pretty awesome if it can work in vorpX!

I figured out a fix. I added another FOV mod that goes up to 100 (90 looks perfect), then merge the two mods using the Script Merger tool. Now it’s full screen with no bars at all, great FOV, and almost no distortion (I’m still tweaking). Here are the mods I used…

@Nikoli,
I followed your settings, but that gets me a distant window with black on all sided. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
Also, it’s too bad the mod only goes to 75 FOV. 5(3 First Person Mod goes to 110. I wonder if it can be used along side this one.
