Do you have your main monitor set as display in rf2 settings so if your monitor is primary, rf settings should have primary ?
There is something really strange with resolutions. yesterday I tried with my 720p display and all worked, now I changed to headess ghost to run 1920×1080@75hz and rf2 still complains about resolution at start (says it is 1024×768 or something) and the picture is really small, virtual cinema looks like it is in portrait mode but the view is small in the midde. I tried to change the rift monitor setting to portrait but it went even more messed up. I also tried few other refresh rates, with different outcomes, but non of those worked. 1680×1050 seemed to work quite well with 59hz but not with higher rates (that is my other monitors native resolution). I tried different sync settings, but no help..
What resolution should I use? and what settings ?
I also tried other supproted games in steam (thief, ms flightsim x, xcom) and none of those worked at all.. are steam versoins supported at all?
Ok, gradually downloading all my games again for steam…
Found ANOTHER that does not work AT ALL.
Thief 2014 – Run Vorpx assign settings via Vorpx run thief.. Launcher opens, press play. Nothing. Nothing at all.
Do not run Vorpx and them run Theif.. Game works fine!!
I am really not impressed NOTHING works for this software!!
Hello,
I’m new to Rift DK2 and how to drive it
so far I did not encounter any Vorpx problem with these games:
Mirror’s Edge
Call Of Prypiat
Dishonored
Arma series
Metro Redux
Outlast
Thief2014
while (settings to default and monitor to Dk2):
– Mass Effect 3 won’t activate the DK2
– Portal 2 crashes to desktop as soon as it reaches the main interface, – although activating the DK2
– Skyrim won’t activate the Dk2 and crashes to desktop
I’ve tried to follow the troubleshooting section suggestions, with no results
any hints?
thanks
Ok, I tried Vorpx with and without the Run as Administrator checkbox and my 64bit games (The Vanishing of EC, Thief and Sniper Elite V3) still don’t work with it on my DK2.
Ok, I started the x64 version of my games, which don’t work. The 32 bit version of “The Vanishing of E.C” and Thief works. I avoid 32 mode always if possible, 32 is a thing of the past, every game runs better and with much bigger textures in 64 bit. Obviously VorpX only seams to work with 32 bit. A little disappointing now with even the consoles switching over to native 64bit. When will VorpX support it?
Got “Max Payne 3″ to work, although is not really stereoscopic, but I think this is because of it using the Z-Buffer mode instead of geometry. Nothing else I have now works (not Thief, not ” “The Vanishing of Ethan Carter” renamed to UDK.exe)
Shouldn’t VorpX try to work with every DX9/11 game u start?
Reinstalling or using desktop shortcuts for games don’t work either.
Testing with “The Vanishing of Ethan Carter” and “Thief”. Disabling the DK2 leads to Vorpx giving error about missing device, so it runs somehow in the background, it just didn’t kick in into the games. Win 8.1 and Nvidia GTX970 here.
Hi.
I’ve set up my DK 2 properly. Works with other games like HL2, TF2 and all the other demoes. Got Vorpx because I want to try it out with Thief, Battlefield 4 and so on. I cannot figure out how this works at all. It says I’m supposed to press “DEL” for a menu. Nothing happens. Anyone feeling like helping a frustrated noob out ? :)
It’s always possible that for some games things are different on other machines, but the recommendations given in the other thread work fine here.
– Starting simply from Steam
– Resolution: 1920×1080 (as always for DK2)
– Exclusive fullscreen in the Thief config, otherwise forcing the game to the Rift does not seem to work
– 32/64 bit work both here. 32bit recommended, since for 64bit the vorpX cursor is missing in the Thief main menu.
– FOV to 110 in the Thief options menu (sadly 10° missing for a perfect result, can be compensated by (very) slightly zooming the image in).
If the game refuses to hook entirely, there might be something on your system blocking vorpX for DX11 programs. The usual suspects are: graphics driver add-ons of all kind, video recording software, streaming applications, chat software.
Mad an account to answer this one. Yeah this is an issue with the way the game developer supported 360 input on the PC. The bad news is that it wants you to use either mouse+keyboard or 360 pad. Vorpx uses mouse inputs for head-tracking so when you use a 360 pad it wigs out. Both Thief and Deus Ex: HR have this problem and I do believe they were both made by Eidos. Now this is not all games, plenty do play well with both inputs at the same time like the Crysis and Bioshock series. There is no ini or console command to disable the 360 pad auto-detect within the game and plugging it in after the game has started and using xpadder to map k&m commands to your 360 pad will not work either. Same goes for Vorpx’s own gamepad tool. I spent like 2 days trying to get a work around for both Thief and Deus Ex HR.
THE GOOD NEWS IS that you can use a non xbox360 gamepad and xpadder and control is restored. Newegg.com even has some knock off 360 pads if you want to keep the same joystiq layout for like 10$.
Or you could just go k&m but if you wanted to do that you wouldn’t have asked. Thief does come out to be a glorious experience though once you get it all setup.
thank you for taking the time to answer. That sounds great, tomorrow a friend will lend me his ps3 controller so I will give it a try with that if that works I think I wil order one of your mentioned knockoff gamepads, guess that should take care of my gamepad problems in skyrim as well.
thanks very much :)
In most cases yes and it is a wonderful tool but in Thief and Deus Ex HR there is no option to disable the gamepad. If it is plugged in and a button or analog stick is pressed then control shifts to the gamepad. In Thief it makes the screen shake all over the place. In Deus Ex it takes 2 seconds to switch to a different control scheme, If you are using the analog sticks headtracking will stop working while they are pressed and for 2 seconds after releasing them and then headtracking will be restored until you press the sticks again. If there are steps for Thief or Deus Ex to disable the gamepad and use your gamepad emulation with a 360 pad, could you list the steps. Right now I am using a Razer Hydra but would much rather be using a 360 pad.
Sorry for the wall text. This is only an issue with games where the 360 pad is auto-detected without an ingame option to disable it and the game doesn’t play nice with 2 control schemes. So far I only ran into this problem with Thief and Deus Ex. I am sure there will be others discovered though few and far between.
Thank you for everything Ralf. I am loving playing with my DK2 with vorpx. I went through the entirety of Bioshock Infinite with vorpx on my DK1 and it was my best vr experience and I am reinstalling it for uses on the DK2 now.

ok i simply reinstalled thief and the vorpx drivers now the screen is filled almost completly, works great! one other thing i discovered: there seems to be someproblem with the xbox wireless controller. as soon as i connect it the game starts “to look around ” uncontrollably and quite a lot, the game becomes pretty much unplayable. is this a known issue with any way around it ? sadly i don’t have another controller here atm to test if the problem occurs with every gamepad or only this one.
If you are talking about Thief 2014, you are doing better than I am. I don’t get a stereo image at all. It is like Vorpx is not catching the game starting.
Anyone got any ideas?
Is there a trick to getting Thief to work? ATM i’m seeing two images and horrible black smearing. In addition the Vorpx menu doesnt appear?
Anyone got thief (the latest one) working with it?
