gorflickParticipantI did a Skyrim fresh install, and i still have 30fps, i never used mods with Skyrim. I tried a new game that never played before, Thief, and same results, around 30fps.

kodiakParticipantOK, made a little bit of progress. Super confusing, not 100% sure on what I’m doing, however, am getting closer in baby steps on this.
So I downloaded my copy of Thief II, The Metal Age. I’ve managed to get the menu screen going in my headset. However, the mouse and keyboard (HTC Vive controllers didn’t work at all) were not working in the game. The left click seemed to do nothing at all, while right clicking seemed to only work on my left monitor. The screen in my headset was beautiful and clear as it is on my monitor, but gargantuan and off to the left. None of the hotkeys to change those settings worked either.
But how I got to this little bit of progression was, starting VorpX, then running SteamVR, then running the game. After importing Thief 2, The Metal Age from the configure settings. Where I was going wrong when I read Ralf’s instructions on my other post was I was leaving the configure screen up and then running the VorpX picture viewer running. I thought that was what made VorpX work. Running the picture viewer.
So still haven’t gotten any game to run, but it’s a step in the right direction, hopefully some of this helps.
I’m with you. While I’ve gotten VorpX to start, and I can get the Desktop viewer to launch, I can’t get it to launch/attach for any game. All I get is the SteamVR home area (“This is REAL” with my Roomspace Grid) and that’s it. I’ve even disabled my second monitor while trying to run it in case that was causing issues as there’s no support for dual monitors.
Tried using it with Diablo 3 and if VorpX is running at all then Diablo 3 locks up when I hit “Play” in the battle.net launcher. Also as a shot in the dark I tried running it with other games like ARK and no go there. Pretty lost and confused as hitting “Start VorpX” as the instructions doesn’t seem to do anything.

iormangundParticipantI gave thief a try recently, although it worked without any issues imho it’s not really very well suited to vr. Due to the fact it’s so dark and the resolution/detail is so much lower in vr I actually found it pretty hard to play, not being able to tell where the glass is, the hidden objects etc. Stuff that on a normal screen you would be able to see.
If you do get it working would be interested to hear what you think although tech support probably isn’t the right forum for that :)

AccessDeniedParticipantOK, got it running a lot more smooth, ty. I did everything, downloaded a Thief 2014 configure and got the FoV set to 120. But when I go to SteamVR and click “Play in theater”, it says preparing to launch game, then does nothing. The “Play in theater” button just comes back.

RalfKeymasterThe slowdown is caused by the latest Windows Defender (built in Windows 10 anti virus) definition update released yesterday. Excluding the vorpX program folder from scanning in the Windows Defender settings should solve this.
If you didn’t change the install location, the folder to exclude is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX
To use vorpX with Vive:
1. Make sure vorpX is running and “HTC Vive” is selected in the vorpX config app.
2. Start SteamVR
3. Start the game you want to play.Regarding Thief specifically please check my answer to your earlier thread. The Game Optimizer helps to get the best settings, but it’s not required.
If you didn’t do so already, please also check the Essential Game Hints and the 1-2-3 Game Setup in the vorpX help. These guides should get you started.

RalfKeymasterThe Game Settings Optimizer that throws this error is not related to games being supported or not. If the optimizer does not work for some reason, you can either play without the game’s ini being optimized or apply the optinizer fix manually.
The game is still supported, regardless of the optimizer working or not.
In case of Thief 2014 you can adjust the FOV (which is what the game optimizer mainly does) by following the steps below:
1. Open the Windows Registry editor.
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos Montreal\Thief\Graphics\
3. Double click on “FOVCorrection”
4. Enter 7530 hex (30,000 dec). This will set the FOV to 120May 21, 2016 at 4:38am #102652Topic: Thief (2014) Not Installed?

AccessDeniedParticipantI bought Thief (2014) on steam the day it came out, it’s been installed ever since. When I try to run the optimizer it says that it’s not installed and there is no path. I noticed that some games say “Steam” by them and others don’t. The only reason I bought VorpX is to play these games I have on steam because the website said that these games are supported. I’m starting to think that they’re not.
Is there a way to get these to work off of steam (I’m using the HTC Vive btw), or do I need to just attempt to get a refund for Vorpx?

BuckleBeanParticipantCan confirm SS2 & Thief 2 both working with new update!
Jan 5, 2016 at 1:42pm #96108In reply to: System shock 2 black screen on launch
RalfKeymasterI’m still unable to replicate this unfortunately (also an nVidia machine). Neither with System Shock 2 (all three versions mentioned above) nor with one of the Thief games (GOG versions), using the latest public version of vorpX.
Could you try to reset your graphics driver 3D settings to default in the nVidia control panel? Just in case it’s related to forced AA or any other forced driver setting. In some cases those can make a difference. AA worked here though, but maybe it’s something else.

BuckleBeanParticipantFunny thing, I just noticed this exact behavior with Thief Gold & Thief 2 last night. All 3 games use the Dark Engine, right? Just tried SS2 and yep, I have the same exact problem, so there’s definitely an issue. I want to say they were all working for me quite recently, but I can’t remember when I last booted them up. Could have been prior to the latest vorpx release, but I really don’t think so. What could have changed? I can’t imagine any of these games were updated. Has SS2 worked for you since the latest vorpx update? Only thing I can think of is gfx drivers. On Nvidia by any chance?
Weird stuff.
Oct 30, 2015 at 9:34pm #90851In reply to: Feature Request: Fixed Content Type
ka0usParticipantI could use the game’s internal stereoscopic 3d to play in cinema mode. (Like in Sonic Generation, Thief, etc).
I have consoles connected to my pc as well, and when I launch the game capture’s application the content type feature is missing.

BuckleBeanParticipantAnother “thank you” for continued support for 2D edge peek. While I prefer 3D for cut scenes, games like Dishonored, Deus Ex, & Thief have a ton of written materials & it’s much easier to read notes & emails & such with 2D edge peek.

BuckleBeanParticipantCan’t speak to your first question or to ENB, but you might be able to use Raedon Pro to inject Sweetfx, even with an Nvidia card. This works with vorpx activated. I’ve tested with Dishonored, Thief (2014), & Bioshock Infinite. Unfortunately, I’m unable to provide instructions. Someone on the oculus forums posted a youtube tutorial. You may want to search there. In addition, you may have luck with google searching for Radeon Pro/Sweetfx/Nvidia (in the event you have an nvidia card).

mcineParticipantI bought vorps because of this update and rf2 will hook up, but I cannot get it working well with 1920×1080.
xcom wont hook up (steam) , also tried couple thief-games and ms flight sim x.. does not hook up..
I think that the oculus installer installe 5.0.1 for me… can that be a problem ? -
