Thanks for the setup tips erised, that stuff is really handy to know. Can you strafe in any way by mapping buttons to controllers (+ is there a way to use controllers instead of the keyboard when you use cybershoes?) It’d be great to see some pics uploaded of your setup onto a google drive or onto IMGUR. The chair you have, is it flat based or one of the cheaper ones with a raised base?

If the concave platform works well an idea would be to suspend the concave platform by making a kind of pallet so that the base of the chair can rest underneath giving a flat ground directly underneath the feet. Is your harness a pole which is attached to the ceiling?

I also forgot to add that the Dark souls VR mod works for Dark souls 1, 2 and 3 if you have any of those versions of the game (or if its cheaper to buy them now probably $5-10 vs $20-40).

I gotta recommend, if youre a fan – theres a first person cheat engine mod for Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro – both games run great in vorpx and you can legit have a 1st person combat souls experience… its been my best time with the program was definitely going thru dark souls 3 in VR first person.

Problem is – you basically need to play a rolling 2 handed character cause the camera cheat to make it work in 1st person goes crazy if you use “lock on”… so you gotta learn to get around that.

I noticed youre playing cinema mode, but when you get to playing 1st person games in full VR mode, you may run into situations where parts of menu/hud may be off screen a little bit. Ralf was smart enough to make “edge peek”, which lets you basically, in ‘down time’ scenarios (like leveling up a character or going thru menus, checking your stats, etc), just tap “P” on your keyboard for edgepeek.

If youve got a ps4 controller the best way to utilize this is with the track pad in the middle set it to two buttons – Delete (brings up vorpx in game menu) and P (edge peek)… so you dont have to take your headset off to see hud elements or menus, just have edge peek mapped to your ps4 controllers middle touch pad and you can pop in and out of edge peek to view HUD if the game’s hud wasnt scalable for vorpx.

just wanted to give you some advice on how to use it for 1st person games.

enjoy! sekiro and dark souls 3 are rad in 1st person with vorpx tho!

You can map your ps4 controller to do this per game in steams controller configuration menu

Does this work well on Dark Souls 3 using the VR mod, or on Mordhau erised? Thanks

Using the first person mod, I played Dark Souls 3 in VR with the Oculus Rift.

    I play Dark souls 3 with Z-NORMAL.
The resolution is one above the lowest. Graphic settings are minimal. Window mode.
Anyway, it crashes frequently. There is little time to play properly.
Is there a way to improve it?

    PC specs.
    GTX1060 WINDOWS10.

Ok thanks again Ralf. I just tried Dark Souls and it looks great in 3D. Even if I don’t end up playing some of these in VR, the Immersive Screen is pretty awesome regardless.

Great work on creating this application too. Pretty amazing what it can do.

Bump for recognition, please consider working on this along with support for ESO.

I thought I might add Ralf seeing as you’ve started support for Dark Souls and Mordhau why not Chivalry and Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast/Academy as well?

Hey everyone, i got a question im sure has been brought up before but i just havent been able to find a topic about it, not sure what wording they may have used to ask, so, please bear with me if im repeating something.

So my most fun Vorpx experience was Dark Souls 3 in VR with a CheatEngine mod to play in First person view – this made locking onto enemies impossible cause the camera would shift like crazy cause it was a hack to get into first person (you could still see your weapon clearly and your arms as well, so was cool immersion factor there)

Anyways, Dark Souls 3 for VR you basically HAD TO play a fast character that can kill without locking on, so what happened was, as i played, i was basically ‘aiming’ my sword swings with my actual head + joystick on controller to hit enemies. Aiming sword swings with the direction youre looking in can actually be quite satisfying :P lol

Okay, so, head aiming is cool and i ‘get it’ as to how Vorpx makes this work, basically simulates our heads as a mouse with data via Oculus and then written to make our heads into the ‘mouse’.

So my question comes down to something about Vorpx that i think could really send it over the top, but just not sure what the roadblocks would be to do it

So our data is also being intercepted by our rift sensors + oculus touch controllers.. is there anyway to turn that data into ‘mouse control’ so that in a game like say, Kingdom Come, you are actually aiming your bow with your Oculus touch controller, like you would in a native Oculus game.

I understand the most likely problem here will likely be that we cant be receiving that many mouse inputs and making it into a functioning product.. Youd have your head + joystick on touch control + aiming the controller at the screen all relegated to simply ‘mouse movement’. Im assuming thats the roadblock here to stop us from doing that.

But what i wanted to offer as a middle ground is maybe a ‘toggle’ option to ‘disable’ our analog stick mouse actions and allow us to stand and ‘aim’ like an actual VR game, even in these older ones. Maybe have to toggle both head movement and joystick control to make it work, but if it was as simple as like clicking in a Grip Button on the controller, then it transfers all ‘mouse movement’ for that moment to your controller being aimed at the screen, like duck hunt or modern games, then release the grip as soon as you want full control back.

I know running and gunning is fun but was wondering if there was any sort of workaround here cause like im playing kingdom come and i WISH i was able to point my touch controllers and aim at the enemies with my actual touch controller.. just didnt know if this was possible or not and wanted to bring it up.

Thanks for all your hard work, Ralf and team, this product has been absolutely fantastic for me. I do not regret a dime i spent to get this program, so thank you very much for that… just wanted to offer a suggestion that im not sure is possible or not, but damn, if we could actually aim like native VR apps, it would be fantastic. Im not talking about moving gun models around and stuff and doing full conversions of the game, just letting us point our controller and shoot, since that data has to exist somewhere and maybe it could be transferred to mouse movement, or something else you crazy geniuses think of to do it :P

Take care, and thanks again for VorpX, its been a real blast playing thru games with this

I have played Mass Effect with a 4k texture mod and holy shit is was awesome to be back in space!!
But I wanted to try out other third person games, so i tried Dark Souls 2… Now I have not played anything else in the last 3 weeks. DS 2 rocks!!! So i bought the hole series :)
But I didnt like the cinema mode for both games, so i tried to make it full vr mode with some tweaks and it works perfect!!! :)

Yeah, I guess I did misunderstand you. I had no clue you were using an HMD. Right on! OK, well, AOE Online has no official profile, so its not super surprising that its only showing up in 2D. However, you could try creating a profile for it using one of these profiles:
    http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/engines/index.php?selengine=Havok
The game is listed as coming out in 2011, so just use search (CRTL+F) to look for previous year games to find established profiles. For instance, Dark Souls, Left 4 Dead 2, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising all have listed profiles (you can tell because they have the Pipes || after the year).
In the VorpX Config, you just have to download (“Import”) one of those profiles from the cloud, then in the Local Profiles panel, locate the newly downloaded profile, then select “Create Custom Profile” give it the name of the Game. In this case, Age of Empires Online.
Now, locate the new profile you just made in the same Local Profiles panel (It’ll have the name you gave it). After selecting it, associate it with the actual game .exe file (Under “Assigned Programs” there should be a blank box, but to its immediate right, press “Add” locate the main .exe file for the game).
Next, press “Apply” on the VorpX Config Window, and try starting AOE Online. If it hooks, and displays in 3D, you got it! (You may want to go into the VorpX in-game menu by pressling DEL and tweaking and testing the 3D strength, etc, and flipping between 3D modes to be sure that it is actually in 3D)
Finally, you may have to try more than one of the games in the Havok list in the link I gave you above from RJK.
Sorry if this is confusing, I’d do it for you, but I don’t own AOE Online to test it out.
    Good luck! 👍😃

I tried the original profile, but nothing works well so far with geometry 3d or not. Does anyone have tips on settings good for this game. My PC spec is Intel 8800 with 1080ti. My god is always low as well. Thanks

Short moderator intervention, sorry: there are no written post guidelines anywhere, so this is my fault. Please avoid full quotes, especially when answering a post directly above. Such quotes are largely redundant and make threads harder to read. Thanks.

To add something more interesting to the discussion: the Dark Souls games work quite well, same for the Dead Space series, also Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (Arkham Knight following in the next update). And if you like something a bit out of the ordinary: Psychonauts, Bayonetta, Alice Madness Returns.

Profile works brilliantly…now to drink myself silly enough to forget playing through soo many times. Great work Ralf, it’s remarkable!

If anyone else is interested, let’s start a few tricks/tips to maximize the experience apart from Vorpx (i.e. camera limitations, additional FOV tweaks, key mappings). It’s already extremely enjoyable, but for the perfectionists, please add any tools, tweaks.

I’m currently using http://fearlessrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?t=6856 to strictly deepen colors and other graphic settins, strafing bugs, etc… but it also allows (offline mode only) to enhance character attributes. I played through once with unlimited health/mana/stam and used console controls and it was a LOT of fun to just play it as purely action-oriented gauntlet style.

Cheers again to the Vorpx team, this update is EPIC.

Hi, has anyone got this running? I tried Dark Souls and Unravel but they won’t hook.
