    I don’t have Dont optimize game settings checkmarked in config and when I started Resident Evil 7 and pressed the delete button only full VR/immersive/cinema option I could change and nothing said DirectVR or is that what you meant?
    Whatever I try I still get double hands holding double guns.
    I’ll try Grid again when I get finish work.

    You can change between cinema mode and fullscreen at any time with the vorpX Delete key menu, but if a game defaults in cinema mode it is like that for good reasons. You can try full mode in Grid, but it might look too zoomed in for your comfort. There are distance sliders on the image page for you to adjust if you want.

    If you by some chance checkmarked the “Dont optimize game settings” in your vorpX config app, DirectVR functions won’t be available in game. Not all games have DirectVR, but I believe RE7 does.

    Make sure you aren’t running Battlefield V in dx12, vorpX dosn’t work with 12.

    If you still get load crash with dx11, just wait for the vorpX update due this weekend. It has planned Frostbite 3 integration, which might possibly include a new profile for Battlefield V. Just speculating, but we’ll see in a couple days.

    I bought this Vorpx yesterday and can’t seem to make it work properly, of the 3 games I’ve tried I haven’t come up with great results.
    I tried Grid and it looked like a cinema screen in front of me and Resident Evil 7 looks like there is a hand in front of me and a silhouette of a cut out hand next to it and I also tried Battlefront V from a profile I found on Cloud and I started Battlefront V and the game wouldn’t load properly and just crashed and I also tried what was suggested of using the Battlefield 1 profile and still it crashed and went back to the Oculus menu screen.
    Is there something I’m doing wrong because right now the experience I’m having with this app really isn’t justifying the price I paid for it, if there are other settings I’m not using they don’t seem to be listed anywhere like a compatibility help topic for every game and the settings you should use, I have used search in topics but the information given was for Resident Evil 7 which a user said usedcamera ht modifier to hide the hideous gun aiming hands and I’ve no idea what that even means and also another user saying that you boot the game, open the in-game VorpX setttings, and click on the DirectVR option and I checked and there is no DirectVR option to click on in the Vorpx menu.
    Also suggested by another user to try the Battlefield 1 profile for Battlefield V and that didn’t work either.
    I’m lost here and thinking that I’ve really wasted my money.

    Will be out this weekend, probably Saturday.

    BTW: vorpX will not work as expected with Pimax 5k/8k yet. Some code customizations wil be required that aren’t possible without an actual headset. Unfortunately they seem to be a bit shy about giving dev kits to actual devs. 😉 Especially advanced DirectVR features like auto resolution/FOV will not work correctly, also performance is probably still a major issue.

    Nice, thanks for the reply!
    I will try it with my Pimax 8K and report how it looks.
    I can confirm that most games with VorpX on the Pimax run with very bad framerate.
    If you’re interested I could contact Pimax to send you a dev kit, need your eMail address then ;)

    I notice you can adjust the up and down camera translation in games in the virtual cinema mode (or immersive screen) So wouldn’t it be theoretically possible to map those values to your head movement positionally (in cinema mode)?

    I am aware of DirectVR mode, but am talking for games that don’t have full support for the mouse or DirectVR, rocket league, MKXL, etc.

    I’m thinking of this for games like rocket league that have no mouse turning support so no headtracking, as it seems you figured out how to hack the camera height (rocket league vorpx settings example)

    Could this up and down camera setting also be applied on the x and z axis?

    I feel I can get the immersive screen mode looking almost like a native VR title with FOV adjustments and screen distance. It’s only the positional tracking that’s missing in these games.

    I’m thinking the immersive screen mode would feel almost like those synthetic lightfield demos in a way with positional tracking like that. Limited FOV if you turn your head but perfect 3D and positional tracking in the viewable area. What do you think?

    Your stutter may seem related to the FOV change to you due to temporal coincidence, but it almost certainly (99.9%) is not caused by it. vorpX checks occasionally whether the FOV .ini value requires an update, and then changes it once if necessary. That never has caused any stutter in the last two years, it’s unlikely to cause stutter now.

    You can disable auto settings on the DirectVR page of the ingame menu. I would highly advise against that though.

    I see what you mean. In that case the stutter may not be related to an FOV change at all. It certainly only happens in particular instance such as as soon as I die or when I’m selecting particular things in the menu. It never happens while actually playing a game until I’m actually killed. Performance ingame is actually totally fine until my death. As soon as I die the screen goes blank for a second (iirc it shows the default steam VR waiting room).

    Games on the supported games list are games with a stereo 3D profile, about 90% of those have Geometry 3D these days.

    For games that do not support DirectVR please check the ‘Essential Hints’ guide and the ‘1-2-3 Game Setup’ guide in the vorpX help. They help you understand how to best play first person games without (or with partial) DirectVR. By following the steps in the ‘1-2-3 Game Setup’ guide you can get basically every first person game working in ‘Full VR’ mode.

    Alternatively you can play in ‘Immersive Screen Mode’ in case you don’t want to spend any time for configuring non-DirectVR games at all. Immersive Screen Mode doesn’t require any setup regardless whether a game has DirectVR or not.

    Please uninstall the FOV slider mod if it interferes. The FOV set by DirectVR is calculated perfectly to fit the FOV of your headset, there is no need to tweak it manually.

    For better iron sights you can use the ‘Main Eye’ option that becomes available in the vorpX menu after enabling expert settings in the config app. Select the eye you would prefer for aiming down the sights in reality.

    Having some issues setting the appropriate WORLD FOV when using DirectVR in conjunction with a mod known as “FOV Slider“.

    Long story short, the option to alter “iron sights FOV” using FOV slider only works if I change the default WORLD FOV through the MCM menu, that being said, I’m not sure if this interferes with the FOV values already set in place by direct VR.

    The only solution I see here would be to set the WORLD FOV of “FOV slider” to the same value DirectVR usually would. Otherwise I’m not sure if running the Direct VR scan after tinkering with the FOV settings via this mod will overwrite it or not.

    Has anyone else experienced compatibility issues with this mod in the past?

    If you can’t see the crosshair, try to experiment with the HUD scaling factor (image page of the vorpX ingame menu).

    Also make sure to enable MSAA in the game’s menu. That has a greater effect on image quality than raising the resolution.

    The game resolution isn’t mapped 1:1 to the headset’s screen resolution since the VR runtime warps the image to account for lens distortion. You can go as high as your PC allows performance wise, just make sure to use *exactly* 4:3 for all Source 2 engine games like indicated by the vorpX message to avoid issues with the DirectVR FOV override.

    If your PC can handle it, you could try 2880×2160 for example. For a game as old as Half-Life 2 that might work with a fast machine, but for newer games you will have to make compromises to maintain a decent framerate. Stereo rendering is computationally expensive.

    The G3D profile is broken currently, sorry. Will be fixed in the vorpX release. Thanks for the heads-up.

    There is no DirectVR FOV or head tracking for the game though. Set the FOV as high as possible in the game options and then compensate for the rest with ‘Image Zoom’ in the vorpX menu. You will also have to adjust the head tracking sensitivity according to your mouse sensitivity.

    BTW: You can find more generalized info regarding FOV/head tracking for non-DirectVR games in the vorpX help (“Essential Game Hints” and “1-2-3 Game Setup”).

    Hi guys :)

    Has anyone been lucky to get the Mmod for HL2 to work with vorpx??
    It an awesome mod for HL 2, but I can´t get it to work right.
    Every Directvr scan fails in fov and rotation and its looks funky. I have tried multiple scans from the train to the streets and no places works.
    It uses HL2 update engine.

    Ralf, pls make this work with vorpx.. Mmod is going to be the future of HL modding :)

    Stranglehold (G3D)

    Excellent 3rd Person Shooter with superb Graphics. (A candidate for DirectVR ?)

    – Great S3D in all modes
    – Full VR With Headtracking ( Cinema is default )
    – Make shortcut and add -ResX=XXXX -ResY=YYYY -language=ZZZ
    Example: ResX=3200 -ResY=2400 -language=eng
    the following languages are supported :
    eng = English
    ger = German
    fra = French
    ita = Italian
    spa = Spanish
    rus = Russian
    – S3D Shadows are disabled by default
    – Resizable HUD (ALT+Mousewheel)
    – Profile available from the cloud

    Once there is an official profile for a game prior user profiles can’t be used anymore unless you rename the game’s .exe. That might look like an unnecessary restriction to you, but ease of use and a lower chance to mess things up for less experieced users had to ranked higher in this regard than total freedom for pro users.

    BTW: You can trust me when I say that you don’t want to use any other profile for Far Cry Primal than the official one. Neither has a potential user profile DirectVR support nor any shader fixes (provided it supports G3D at all).
