I was recently testing Metro 2033 original version with dx9 and G3D on Oculus Cv1, and I would like to ask a couple of questions, about Vorpx and this game.
Currently Metro 2033 original is a game (NO-DirectVR), at the moment.

I do not know very well its graphical engine, but it contains 2 .ini files after running for the first time, and these allow to change FOV, resolution, and eliminate some annoying things in VR, both files must be saved and probably protected against writing.
    https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Metro_2033
I got very good results after some changes, but I need to solve two important issues.

Issue 1: The light from our flashlight is too wide and strong, this causes a strong glare in the headset lens. It is too annoying honestly.
Ok,press and repeat press on (F key), simply turn the flashlight on and off,but also, this flashlight is charged in battery every so often manually during our game. Pressing and hold (F key) and click mouse button 1, we get to recharge it, but the light increases causing big glare problems with headset.

This leads me to think, perhaps, there is some modifier, which I do not know to reduce its intensity, or maybe Ralf can fix this annoying lighting effect for the next version?

Issue 2: aiming with some weapons, it is quite complicated even with positional tracking, due to a large zoom, too close or closed.
This could be improved by modifying the weapon’s zoom value during aiming,
but I do not know if we can do it or introduce a line to solve this.

I literally love this game, and still much more with Vorpx and G3D, because its immersion multiplies even more. It is a unique experience if you appreciate it, accompanied by several factors such as narration, history, exploration, stealth, action moments within a post-apocalyptic universe where the world has to survive within the Meters, and face the dangers in and on the surface.
This game contains translation and dubbing of voices in many languages, which is good for a better VR experience.

I would like to see a Full DirectVR support, with some memory fixes if necessary, to continue enjoying this experience and for any user to experience this experience without too many configuration problems with the current headset.
Probably same solutions can be covered, to the second part of this franchise, Metro Last Light.

In the meantime if Ralf or any user knows a way to solve these 2 problems manually, he has my thanks.
    regards.

It even got better in the meantime. Since my original post the new settings optimizer learned to auto-set a resolution based on what individual games allow and a user’s system supports.

While quite useful for almost any game with an optimizer profile, that is especially great for some games that allow unusual custom aspect ratios without glitches (e.g. Skyrim, Battlefield 4/1, Metro Redux). Significant image quality/performance gains through VR-headset optimized resolutions in such cases without having to deal with .ini edits or similar things. Everything just happens.

I too have enjoyed Skyrim, Fallout4, BioShock Infinate, and Metro LL, but recently I’ve been playing a lot of:

    – Battlefield 1 onilne
    – Star Wars Battlefront 2015 online
    – theHunter Call of the Wild (Assassins Creed Unity profile)

All 3 have in game FOV adjustment and good Z3D. And I’ve been playing online without a problem, no ban or disconnect.

I’ve noticed I end up choosing Z3D over G3D almost everytime, due to its agreeable shadows and faster performance – which means I can crank up the resolution and max the eyecandy.

p.s. As of a few weeks ago an update to Dying Light has unlocked native VR support again via quick file edit. It’s not perfect, but fun to check out.

    Hi.

Have anyone tried to set up Vorpx with these games? And how did they fell/run with a oculus cv1?

    Metro 2033
    Metro Last light
    Arma 3
    World of warcraft

I can only find a few topics about these titles from well over a year ago, and they are not really what im looking for.

Every time I launch Metro 2033 Redux, the game crashes immediately. I’ve tried messing with some settings but everything results in the same outcome. Any help?

So far other games work fine, just not Metro Redux.

Chisel do you have this problem with all Steam games? I am able to run Metro Last Light Redux and Tomb Raider launching from the Steam Library. But I get the error u describe with BioShock Infinite when launching from the Steam library. When I try launching directly from the bioshockinfinite.exe I get a missing MSVCP.DLL error. Actually the stars aligned once and I was able to launch it using a short cut from within the Vorpx Desktop viewer. Everything worked find for 2 hours. But I could never do it again. I tried your work around of pausing the watcher. The game would launch but displayed only on the monitor and not in my Vive when I resumed the Watcher.. You can create a log by using Vorpx Config, trouble shooting, and then collect trouble shoot data in the upper right corner. I would be interested to learn what more you know about this problem. Tech support never bothered to respond to my post of a week ago.

    I support this!
I tried running “Metro 2033” and the game just crashed, causing all windows to be moved on my secondary screen (happens every time it crashes).
Then you always have to take off the headset to be able to access anything since the virtual desktop of VorpX only displays the primary desktop.

It’s NOT woking ! I’m trying now for hours and hours to change the FOV setting and it still not working at all, game is ultra zoomed.

” Set the game FOV directly in the game if it provides to dial in an FOV of 120°. ”

=> Impossible on fallout 4, metro 2033 redux, metro last light redux

Set the game FOV directly with the vorpX Game Settings Optimizer (vorpX config app) for games that support it.

    => the same ! ” optimize setting ” for FOV = 120, then ” setting applied ” then ” apply ” then…. NO CHANGE in game !

All my games are original, on steam, and not modified. I paid 35 euros for something that is not working, you have no video of tutorial on your website… great !!

Has this question been addressed? I’m having the same issue. The Optimization settings in in VorPX for FAllout 4 are set to resolution fo 1280×1024 and FOV of 110 and the boxes are checked, however when I launch fallout I still get the Vorpx warning that my resoltion is set to the monitor default of 1680×1050…

Any tips? I tried using a third party config tool but when that was running fallout wouldn’t launch on the headset…

I have having the same problem, but with Deus Ex Human Revolution: Directors’ Cut. It will start just fine if VorpX is disabled. When VorpX is running, it tries to start and fails with the “Failed to start game (unknown error)” Steam error. Other games (e.g Skyrim, Bordlands 2) work just fine. Metro 2033 Redux and Serious Sam also worked fine (after I did the VorpX Desktop trick once). DEHR:DC, however, still fails when VorpX is running, even using VorpX Desktop.

These aren’t all FPS games, but are excellent picks:

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is AWESOME in VR if you’re into mystery adventures
Elite Dangerous if you like space exploration games
The Elder Scrolls Series – primarily Skyrim.
    Fallout 4
    The Batman Arkham Series
    Metro 2033
Call of Duty Black Ops 1-3, Battlefield 3-4 and even Hardline, Any Splinter Cell or Crysis game
    Alien Isolation
    Quake I-III
    Half Life 2
    Portal
The Witcher 1 and 2 if you like extended campaign games that will suck all your time, not sure if Witcher III is manageable at acceptable graphics levels
    Bioshock: Infinite
    Borderlands
    GTA IV and V
and to tickle your fear of heights check out Mirror’s Edge

Essentially if your computer can run it, and it’s built on a major game engine like Unreal, Unity, and quite a few others – it’ll play in VorpX. The less popular it is the more tweaking you’ll have to do though because it won’t have been done already by someone else. Once you get used to the Vorpx in game menu you’ll be able to get games to run. Whether you get a true stereoscopic experience depends on how the game was coded though.

I’m sure that’s clear as mud now.. lol. But hopefully there are a couple of games on there you can check out that are well established as compatible.

I’ve recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Today I started vorpX for the first time on Win 10 and was greeted with an error stating that the “vorpX VR Driver Control” has crashed (according to Process Explorer it’s the “vorpControl64.dat”.
vorpX remains in the task as tray icon and can be configured.

As a verification if the driver is doing anything, I tried running “Skyrim” (which worked before on Win 7) and it worked fine.
I also tried to run “Metro 2033 Redux” (never tried before on Win 7) and it just displays the output on screen, or if I force DirectX 9 in the config file, the game just crashes.
Since I don’t know if that’s a game/configuration problem right now or related to the driver crashing from vorpX, I’ll leave questions about that out for now (since one game works and the other doesn’t).

I’ve reinstalled vorpX just to be sure that it wasn’t the Win 10 Upgrade messing with things, but the problem remains after reinstall.
You start vorpX and it goes “vorpX VR Driver Control” has crashed.

OS is Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit (Build 10586.164)

If you have further questions regarding this issue, please ask.
I hope this issue can be resolved.
Thanks in advance and for the otherwise great software!
