I’m not an expert, but I may I’ll offer a couple of suggestions:

    1) Make sure that you have “Do not use an Oculus Profile” selected in Vorpx – the profile are somehow broken and that messes everything up.

    2) From the in-game (del) Vorpx menu, make sure your IPD is set right. Too low is better than too high. Some of your issues sound like a IPD too high (or #1).

    3) Some games have narrow default FOVs, Metro is one that I tried that is really bad. The game setting may need adjusting, or an ini may need editing. There are 2D and 3D FOV enhancements in the Vorpx (del) menu that can help too.

    4) If the head tracking isn’t 1:1, it can feel zoomed even if it’s not, that head tracking scaling can be adjusted in the Vorpx (del) menu, I’ve found this necessary for some games too (like Metro).

…That’s all that comes to mind for now… Hope it helps.

IIRC the file in the AppData directory is right one.

If you use D3D9 you should alternatively be able to use the “3D FOV Enhancement” in the vorpX ingame menu. Might cause visual glitches though in some games, can’t remember currently whether that was true for Metro.

    Hi,

Trying Metro 2033 on my DK2, this loads fine and the head tracking seems spot on through Vorpx but the FOV is way to close in, I have looked up about changing the FOV in the Config file which I have done in appdata/local/4AGames and also under the steam/userdata location but neither change the FOV in game.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ian.

    Thank you Ralf,
I tried the G3d tabs already, they do improve the 3d greatly but was hoping for a tad more.
Great news about Metro and the next update as that game is awesome in 3d in the rift, I would say the best experience yet in 3d mode.

    Thank you again
    Regards

    Hi,

vorpX supports two different 3D-modes: A classic mode (Geometry 3D) that renders two views, and a super-fast mode called Z-Buffer 3D that has less 3D but is twice as fast, which helps to ensure 60fps even in taxing games. In most cases Z-Buffer is the default, you can switch to Geometry 3D in the in-game menu, provided the game supports both modes.

Clive Barkers Jericho supports both, you can switch to Geometry 3D in the in game menu (3D-Reconstruction). To further enhance the 3D-effect, you can raise the Eye Separation in the in-game menu. The default values are usually dialed in to be lifelike though, so raise them with care.

Metro Last Light will be supported with the next update, currently it’s 2D only.

    Hiya,
I am very happy with the Vorpx driver on the whole, it adds a lot of immersion to games.
I was just wondering however, how I could add more 3d depth to some games. whatever I seem to do on say “Clive Barker’s Jericho” or “Metro Last Light” I can’t seem to get Anywhere as near as the 3d depth I can get from “THE OTHER” paid for driver in both these games and more.??

If you can help please enlighten me as there is only a few options that I can see from the “delete key” that I can change.

Also as a side note I have Starship troopers running by means of another driver and using an xbox controller. It is amazing, would be great if Vorpx could do the same for those who wish to play it here. I’m in the film, seriously lol that’s how it feels, just needs more rez, hopefully soon ;-)

    Regards to all

Hey Ralf, thanks for all that info ! Yer didnt think it possible, was getting my hopes up really haha Im fine with the way its implemented now anyways since its done for games that dont even support headtracking in the first place.
Really loving this driver you have made and am glad I purchased it, keep up the good work !
Oh and while im here, could you please add in official support for Metro Last Light if possible, it starts up unofficially supported now but when I try to load my save it crashes. 3D for that game would be amazing to! Would be very appreciated.
    Cheers, Brennan.

I can play PES 14 last week, but from two days ago game doesn´t work with vorpX.

I dont install any new software, I think that can be the new version of VorpX that make I can´t play.

Updates are automatic? We don´t choose what version can use?

    Thanks!

PD: With Metro Last Light is same, it is working three days ago but today is not working :(

I finally got Mirror’s Edge working. I still had the d3d9.dll from Vireio in the Binaries folder.

Did you try both the DX9 and the DX10 mode? Both *should* work (DX10 only partially though), but maybe for you at least one of the two does the trick.

You also might want to try hooking with a special vorpX shortcut, which I described here:

Cant get Mirror's Edge and Metro Last Light to work.

Thanks for the reply but I still cant get Mirrors Edge to be recognized by vorpX. It just boots up normally no matter how I launch the game. Every other supported game works fine for me.

Sometimes you simply have to try again. Usually two or three times should suffice though.

You can also create special vorpX shortcuts, that hook a game in another and more reliable way. Right-click the vorpX tray icon and select “Create Desktop Shortcut”, then select the .exe you want to start. This will create a shortcut on the desktop, as the menu entry title suggests. ;)

While using these shortcuts it might make sense to pause the ‘watcher’, also via the right click menu of the tray icon.

Unfortunately these shortcuts do not work well with many Steam games, but it’s always worth a try.
