I have found there is “Generic VR Headset (desktop mode)” which is a start, but it shows everything as being round. I’m trying to get things … rectangular? … like a 3D movie. Is there a setting for that? Also I will want to kill the VorpX logo and anything else that interferes with the full screen SBS 3D

I run it at 3200×2400 rez (4:3) on my Odyssey+, and holy crap, I’ve never seen 3D stuff so clearly before. Its gorgeous. Its important to run it at a higher rez due to the fact that its SBS.

Shadow is absolutely jaw dropping with VorpX in any of the modes (I’m running in full VR, max graphics), and it’s all butter and no STUTTER! Finally I can actually have some fun on this damn thing again. Tried it with Virtual Desktop first and almost threw it down after trying to configure the usual tricks for an hour or so, then thought maybe Cinema mode or Desktop Viewer with innate SBS would work well with VORPX, then BLAM, Full VR and Lara’s T&A in my face :P

P.S. I didn’t do ANY configuring, just launched Shadow from my desktop via VORPX’s Desktop Viewer…and whomever’s profile applied everything. I also had the game’s SBS enabled and settings (i.e. res, graphics) configured prior, and also added exception to the Shadow’s launcher.

    Thanks!

How do I get SBS screenshots/screen capture? I want to make a video explaining how to get PS working in VR

Ok thanks I just didn’t know how to get the in game menu, now it’s much better I can change a lot of the things I was wondering about. I did switch the image to SBS and it worked but for some reason the 2 images don’t line up now they are offset it’s like I’m watching the movie cross eyed. I didn’t see anything in the settings to fix that.

Awesome thanks, I’ll check it out!

I’m trying to watch a 3D movie in desktop viewer but it only plays in split SBS mode showing the two separate images. Is there just some setting I haven’t changed in MPC yet? I don’t see anything that looks appropriate. It did say that it installed the MPC codecs when I installed VorpX and when I run MPC it shows that VorpX is injecting first so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong?

I used reshade and superdepth3d to get a 3d sbs version with tridefvr, but as far as I remember Vorpx sbs does not really work with the same technique.

As for the profiles, I don’t remember any of them working in g3d.

My first try after registering vorxp today was with The Witcher 2 and I was not impressed, even disappointed, I tried G3D to max strength (5) then Z3D but the game remained flat. Then I tried Rise of the tomb raider and boom, it worked, even with xbox game pad, I started to have hope that TW2 might still work yet, knowing that Rise of the tomb raider put out SBS making it easy for vorpx.

I want to thank Ralf for a fantastic app. As a long time 3d vision user I play games in stereoscopic only and your app enables another level of immersion for non vr games (if it works without in game SBS as in ROTTR.)

If you are using the vive do this. Note: If you dont see 3D in your HMD, you probably wont see it in an SBS screenshot either.

@ all (most): Thanks for the kind words.

@ moarveer: Bioshock Remastered is a rather odd case technically unfortunately due to the way they did the DX9>DX11 conversion. As soon as I have an idea to tackle this in a decent manner, the game will be added, but I can’t promise anything. Currently it’s too glitchy.

@ nieda: FYI: About 90% of official profiles have G3D now. For AC:Odyssey you would need a GTX4080Ti (sic!) for G3D, not even AC:Unity G3D runs exactly great on current hardware. Far Cry 5: anticheat prevents vorpX from hooking as discussed multiple times here.

@ dborosev: AC:Odyssey Z3D base parameters have been adjusted to look more realistic. In Origins elements nearby looked extremely large and then got too small too quickly in the distance. This is more balanced now. You can however play around with the near/far option like dellrifter suggested if you prefer something else.

@ dellrifter22: no changes to the way Image Zoom is used. Only remotely related change is that in immersive screen mode a higher FOV is set if vorpX can adjust it. But that only affects immersive screen mode and there it has the opposite effect of what you describe. I’ll double check to be extra sure.

@ OculusRiftRocks: native 3D means that the game has its own SBS stereo mode. What the vorpX profile does is automatically setting the game options to utilize it. You could do the same with Crysis 2/3, but those had indeed a depth buffer based approach. Crysis 3 with vorpX G3D is superior.

Tomb raider has built in SBS 3D, which is pretty much the same as G3D. VorpX uses this built in 3D.

Did you download and install my profile from the cloud? It has SBS enabled. Default profiles do not generally offer SBS option, so you’ll need one specifically for Tomb Raider.

SBS toggle will be on the main page of delete key menu, instead of G3D/Z3D options.

I use the cinema screen instead of immersive screen.

You need to make a copy of a profile that has SBS input unlocked. The Rise of the Tomb Raider should work.

dellrifter (see the post above yours) apparently already did that, so check the cloud profiles first.

I´ve tried the inmersive screen with sbs mode but it´s not working.
The game is on sbs mode but when I start vorpx the stereo option is working (supr key, image settings), but when I start the game in sbs I look for this option in vorpx menu and it doesn´t appear and I can´t “mix” both images

    Any idea??

I’ve uploaded my first run profile for Shadow of the Tomb Raider for SBS G3D cinema. It’s configured for my Pimax4k with the following settings:

    – set to dx11, use keyboard to navigate menus
    – use a 4:3 resolution (1600×1200, 3200×2400)
    – set “Side by Side” stereoscopic mode in game and use:
Separation: 4 arrow ticks right from 0
Popout: 7 arrow ticks right from 0
(these are my preferred for best 3D world pop, though scale is a bit low)

    * Some particle and fog effects may look slightly strange, disable “volumetric lighting” if desired.

    * Since this was tuned for Pimax4k, Rift users may need to adjust screen distance a few notches for better FOV, and/or tone down the saturation/brightness/sharpness some.
    ————————————————————-

While it looks quite good in SBS, it can be performance heavy and suffer from aliasing, as compared to running Z3D with Conan Exiles profile. Some may prefer to play it Z3D instead, and for this I might recommend the forthcoming official profile to allow both SBS and Z3D options if possible.

Many 3rd person games such as Assassins Creed can look quite good in Z3D, and I believe Tomb Raider might as well.

Anyhow, off to play now. Enjoy!
