    Hi Ralf (and community),

I realize that vorpX does not yet support DK2. We all appreciate your work in making this happen.

I was playing with vorpX last night and, as expected, it didn’t detect the DK2 when running a game. However, I noticed that the SDK files in vorpX/OculusConfigUtil are version 0.2.5. I backed up and replaced those files with the corresponding files from SDK 0.3.2p2, which allowed vorpX to detect the DK2 at runtime and trigger Rift mode (DK1 effects, obviously). I got a warning about head tracking being unavailable, which is also expected.

Just throwing this out there for anyone trying to get _something_ working on the DK2, as things are obviously quite messy at the moment. :)

Comments and input on the above procedure are welcome.

    1. The current version number is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen whenever you run a game with vorpX (0.64 as of today).

    2. Updates are issued automatically. This works similar to Steam updates. vorpX checks for available updates on startup.

    3. The DK2 update will be free for current vorpX owners.

Ralf, now that the SDK is out, when can we expect a long-awaited VorpX update? And for DK2 support, are you going to support all of the new SDK features, including:

    – Direct display mode
    – Timewarp (this would be a godsend for the geometry 3d performance hit!)

Awesome, thanks Ralf. Just curious what the difference is in making the stereo 3D support work. Is it related to the game itself or just requires a lot of work on your side after the fact?

Can’t wait for the updated support!

The next update will be released next month (after the DK2 is available) at the latest. There may be a smaller one before that, but that’s not entirely clear currently. We had a special version for some E3 demos, but there still is a little bit of work to do for the next public release.

    Stay tuned.

    When the updates?

I just checked this today, but no luck in reproducing the issue unfortunately. The only thing I can think of currently is that this may be related to specific locations. Could someone please check that? I tried the start of the game until Booker reaches Columbia. That portion of the game worked fine here.

The big update with DK2 support will be released when DK2 is available, but before that there will be a smaller update with 20 new game profiles, fixes for various outstanding issues (including the infamous ‘no menu text bug’ in BF3), and some neat usability enhancements in regard to configuring games correctly for vorpX.

Not everything comes under “Free market economy”

Under the T&c’s you agreed to :
    3.2
The vorpX license is a personal license bound to the purchaser. You can not resell your license or give it away once you received an activation key.

Not sure why you want to sell it though, obviously you have your reasons but Ralf promised a Big news update soon, I’m looking forward to it and love his work so far

    Regards

The current version still is 0.64. It is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen whenever you run a game with vorpX.

vorpX checks for updates on every startup and updates automatically if it finds a new version. Pretty similar to how Steam updates work. If you want to (re-)install the latest version manually, you can simply use your original web installer. It always fetches the latest available version from the server.

What is the current version please ?

Once you bought the driver (in my case i have beta v0.64), are the next updates free, and how to update vorpx if we have an “old” version ?

vorpX needs to be online for installation and activation. After you activated it, it can be used offline on the PC that you activated it on. You lose the ability to update when using it only offline though.

I appreciate that Ralf! I haven’t updated my VorpX client since the initial release, so I came by to see if there was any news.

When I saw that the blog on the main page hadn’t been updated since BEFORE the release of the beta, I was afraid the project had closed!

The current version might work to some degree, but certainly not perfectly.

Impelmenting the necessary changes for full DK2 support might be possible before the DK2s are actually shipped, depending on when Oculus releases the updated SDK. So more probably than not vorpX will be fully DK2 ready around the time the devkits are shipped.

For testing the changes DK2s are necessary, of course. I ordered two DK2s right after the announcement was made, hopefully they will arrive here as soon as possible.

I just ordered the Devkit 2 and I was wondering if the current Vorpx driver will work with it? I know this is unlikely, but how long do you reckon it will take to update the current driver to work with Devkit 2, Ralf? I hope the answer will be it won’t take long, but what you think? Thanks!
