Not downloaded yet but I agree with Ralph. I was worried that the images and videos I saw made Skyrim SE look like a over-saturated bright glowing purple or light blue mess (personal taste I suppose). Unless there is good system advantages and performance fps gain with the 64bit SE Skyrim I may end up sticking with my old Skyrim.

Anyone notice if the flickering distance mountain Z-fighting bug has been solved in the SE? It is most visible when looking to west mountains in front of Whiterun.

Setting resolution in INI file should be the same.

    iSize H=…
    iSize W=…

Put anything you like (as long as it is a windows rez or working custom rez)

I believe Skyrim has some special rendering stuff to get proper shadows in G3D and that is why restart is required. Actually my Geo3D FPS is not too bad (40 – 60) but I just really like to hit the steady 75 fps (DK2) and keep good visual quality that only Z3D can achieve. I already use SKSE memory hack which is the best possible I believe.

G3D option is there. Just when you turn on G3D you get a “Restart is required” and vice versa for Z3D. So only after you have exited to windows and restarted the game, the new mode is switched on upon restart. I was just saying it would be great if exit to windows and restart of the game was not required (As is the case with most other vorpx games).

Yes I agree that the CPU single thread rating is one of the most important things for games with VorpX.
I have a gtx 980 and I found big problems with AMD athlon x4 860 CPU. When I changed to an Intel i-7 I got huge improvements.

Check PASSMARK https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ Single Thread Rating to judge your CPU. I would recommend a single thread rating above 2000 (which there unfortunately are NO such AMD cpu’s)

    SOLVED
I have finally solved this problem. Everything is nice and smooth now.
It turns out that my CPU was the issue. I had AMD Athlon X4 860K overclocked to 4.2 GHz. My GPU is GTX980.
I changed to a 4GHz Intel i7 and now everything runs just fine with same GPU. The AMD cpu single thread rating was just too low and can’t handle VorpX, games and keep the input latency down all at the same time.

Sorry AMD, I say you should only go with Intel if you want a good VorpX experience.
For anyone looking to upgrade their computer for VorpX I recommend splurging on a good CPU and motherboard first because it is easier to upgrade the GPU later on.

Been a long time since I played Bio-shock in rift. But FOV is important.

    -Open user.ini located here C:\Users\usernamehere\AppData\Roaming\Bioshock
and don’t forget to backup (NOTE AppData may be a hidden folder so make it visible)
-Search for first F6=EquipAbility6 then change the following…
    F7=ResetFOV
    F10=SetFOV 120
F11=SetFOV (try another value here around 100-120 and see if you like it better)

now you can press the F10 or F11 key to get a nice FOV. Try 120 and if that does not look nice try something smaller in the 100 – 120 range. See what feels the most natural for you. Other settings have probably changed so much that I can’t really help you there.

not sure what it is going on.
I have a DK2 so it is constant 75fps direct mode and game is usually 60-75 fps

The mouse and x-box controller looking is so smooth and fluid, but looking with the head tracker is always jittery? So far best solution is to disable mouse y-axis and only look up/down which is smooth. x-axis is still jittery so I try to only look left/right with mouse.
I noticed if I am holding ctrl+shift to enable mouse y-axis it returns to being jittery until I let go. It really seems like some kind of conflict between HT and the mouse.

I noticed in Geometry mode the positional tracking is smooth too. So leaning is always smooth and the HT rotation feels a bit more smooth. It is harder to notice exactly in geo mode since framerate is usually only 25 – 45 fps outdoors but it still feels more smooth than z3D at 60-75fps??? I always used to feel geo mode was more smooth than Z3D because of this problem but GEO3D will sometimes drop below 25 fps so I can’t really stay in geo mode all the time.

I found fluidsync would cause my camera to jump around and stutter every 2-3 seconds. I will give it another try this weekend and see.

    Update:
It really does seem to be a mouse input related problem.
I tried turning on HT as x-box controller and looking around was very smooth (although terrible because the head just kept spinning around with any slight movement of my head).

I don’t think you can configure x-box controller as HT nicely in skyrim. So I am at the same problem.

Looking with the mouse is always smooth.
Looking with my head is jittery and jumpy (very uncomfortable)
When I use “disable mouse y-axis” then I can look up and down in the y-axis very smoothly but looking left or right in x-axis is still jittery (feels a lot like jutter with low framerate even though my framerate is 60+).

This is an old post but it seems to address the exact problem I am noticing now.

I have been having a lot of problems with the smoothness of Skyrim and have finally discovered the core issue.

I play in Z-3D with a framerate of 50 – 75 fps everywhere and 74-75fps in interiors. However head tracking always felt jumpy/jittery and uncomfortable.

I noticed that looking around with mouse is always smooth, however looking with my head causes the jump/jittering and feels very uncomfortable. I played alot with HT sensitivity settings and all manner of graphics settings with no success.

Finally I noticed that turning on the “disable mouse Y-axis” now makes my looking up and down in the Y-axis silky smooth and very comfortable. SUCCESS (for y-axis)
However, looking left and right in the x-axis is still very jittery and uncomfortable. Is this some kind of mouse emulation problem? If you were able to fix this please let me know.

Just a thought: Occulus rift does some image distortion to make the images look proper through the lenses. So the image is stereo with some additional image distortion that may not look proper on a flat 3D display.

I am not sure about the water. Do you use any water mods?
I find in geo3D setting the focal distance up (0.3 – 0.10) did make a more real full size feeling game but can mess with the reflection and sky convergence.

1080×1200 is not 8/9 resolution like 960×1080. If you can make a custom resolution to keep 8/9 try 1080×1215.

One thing I have definitely noticed in skyrim is the water will flashy glitch-out and npc and creatures will bob and jump around if you force a non-compatible resolution on your display.

For example I play with 1440X1280 (z-3D to keep the frame-rate up). And it works great in the DK2. But if I play just on my monitor with these settings the water flashes in and out and mammoths bob around like rocking horses. I get sound glitches and actors pop up and down. If I go to 1920×1080 and play on my monitor everything returns to normal. All resolutions seem to work properly in the rift, However stereo 3D seems to only work for me at proper 3/4 8/9 resolutions.
