ElectryicParticipant
I tried various DX9 and DX11 titles here instantly after reading your post: Crysis, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Aliens Colonial Marines, Deus Ex Human Revolution, GTA V, Star Wars: Battlefront. All work fine. Maybe your update didn’t go through correctly.
Seems a simple restart after reinstalling vorpX fixed it. Sorry about that I just assumed oculus runtime updates automatically broke vorpX each time so figured I’d sound the alarm so you could get it figured out.
ElectryicParticipantThought maybe it was a different game but I tried a game that was working perfectly before and got same error. Your’s is working???
ElectryicParticipantHmm I reinstalled vorpX expected it to work and got same error:
The error is now vorpX could not initialize your Oculus Rift. It reported:
(blank)ElectryicParticipantIll completely reinstall vorp X … I had to completely reinstall oculus , as the auto update caused me to suddenly have laggy head tracking. Removing and reinstalling oculus fixed it.. so I will reinstall vorpX now I assume that will most likely solve the issue.
ElectryicParticipantI’d also like to play DDO (dungeons/dragons online). I assume it has something to do with having to log in to the game client.
ElectryicParticipantI’ve found that Vampire The Masquarade Bloodlines has a profile, no geo3d but it works on z3d pretty good. Add -console to launch options and use fov 120 to make it looks rather good.
How did you get this to work? I got the “less than 15 MB error” and fixed it with the user patch, but now vorpX won’t hook (after applying unoffical patch). Are you on win 7 64 bit?
ElectryicParticipantIf they took it away I doubt its coming back.
ElectryicParticipantBy “work” it means almost all games will come up inside the Rift on a virtual movie screen and the headtracking should work.

Possible for you to upload the profiles that you make to the cloud? Would be most appreciated!
ElectryicParticipantI truly hope this will be put back on the radar with higher priority. Almost everything currently in vorpX is washed out with the default settings. Being able to adjust color settings (brightness, contrast, saturation etc) in my opinion is extremely important.
ElectryicParticipantRalf: I used the switcher to run 0.8 runtime and ran vorpX. Right after finishing the download, it immediately rolls back changes.
The update is saved in C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Local\Temp\vxs-(numbers), just copy the content to a different location after the update finished (you have to be quick) and run the setup.
I ended up just using the installer. As long as you don’t delete the registry files your license remains intact.

ElectryicParticipantThanks for checking it out I wasn’t sure if the time (i.e. when the load screen would come on) of the crash might point out something that could be helpful
ElectryicParticipantDefinitely DX9… nothing has changed from when it worked fine, aside from now I’m using the runtime switcher. Game loads up everything is fine…the crash happens as soon as you start a game and the load screen would come up.
ElectryicParticipantFor DK2 users, that should help.
