ParticipantI can confirm that it works with a crack. Didn’t work before, had the same 30second crash as anyone else. Because of missing HDD space, I can’t properly install the game in steam anymore. But now that it’s apparently a DRM problem, can anyone try this game in steam offline mode? Maybe that works.

ParticipantSince so many were curious (me among them), is said “screw it” and just bought the game to test. Unfortunately, it’s looking incompatible at this time. Here’s what I discovered in my brief testing.
-If you launch the game through Steam with VorpX running, it launches and runs as expected without engaging VorpX.
-If you navigate to the Steam Library folder where “Gone Home” is installed, there are two executables, “GoneHome.exe” and “GoneHome32.exe”.
-If you create a Desktop Icon via VorpX for the “GoneHome32.exe” file, then the game will load, but you will only see a completely black screen instead of the menu, but you can hear the game’s audio.
-If you enter the game during this black menu screen (enter key resumes your saved game), if will load the game (verified by the shifting sounds of rain when you move), but you still will have no visuals.
@Ralf & @Muteboy: Feel free to move this thread to the other forum since this has become more of a troubleshoots/bug-report thread that a Hint & Tip thread. Thanks.
Thanks a lot, I’ll not buy it yet then. Also curious about that “official oculus mode”, just like with Proteus.

ParticipantFor reference, I’m using nVidia Driver version 327.23.
Oh right, I may try another nvidia driver tonight. I still have 320.49
Do all people without crash have the newest driver?golem09
ParticipantOS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (Avast Anti-virus)
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k (@ 3.2 GHz)
Motherboard: msi p67a-gd65
GPU: Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 Ti
Memory: 2 x 4GBSo basically everything is different.

ParticipantYep, I knew they were not supported, was just weird that Condemned worked so well (I didn’t even notice that there was no 3D in the first minutes) and then it just completely stops. Same thing happens when you go into the graphics menu, and sometimes it goes back to proper vorp when leaving the menu.
What I have seen in some games though (ME3, Skyrim) is that the overlay menu sometimes quits working. When I press delete, it flashes very briefly on the left side of the screen, and is immediately gone again. Just giving you more feedback here ;)

ParticipantI deactivated it, did nothing. It’s weird how the crash is not bound to an event though. If I click new game, the game crashes after it goes black to load. When I continue, it loads the game and let’s me play for 2-3 seconds.

ParticipantJust to make sure…
I’m having the Bioshcok Infinite crash as well, and I’m using Avast Antivir. Can you guys that have the crash confirm what you’re using, just to make sure it’s not some super weird background Avast stuff?golem09
ParticipantSo far what gave me the best results was to use 16:10, choose Letterbox 1 and then increase the Vignette scale so that I don’t see the borders.
Letterbox 1 jut always looked correct, and smart never did. I tried this with 4:3, 16: and 16:9golem09
Participant@ golem: Please make sure that vorpX is not blocked from the internet by your firewall and/or virus scanner/security software. That might be the problem.
Thanks Ralf, that was it. After completely disabling Avast it works. Now I gotta find out how to make that exception.

ParticipantI got my license, but I just get an error about there being something wrong with it.

Participanthere you go, guys:

ParticipantCan. Not. Wait.
Got semester break until early october, I still hope I can put some time into vorpx gaming before that ;)golem09
ParticipantThat was also something I was wondering about. Since the Oculus is pretty much one single piece of hardware, the usual options I know from 3D software is not as neccessary. And so far in the native Oculus games/demos the only real value you had to put in was the IPD.
Is vorpX is pre-calibrated like this as well, so that the IPD is all you need if you use stock hardware?golem09
ParticipantThanks for clearing that up. I knew about the ingame HUD for button presses, but wasn’t sure if this feature wasn’t too good to be true ;)

ParticipantAwesome news. Keep up the good work :)
