ParticipantNot working that well for me so far. VorpX config util allways crashes when I try to open it. Virtual Cinema mode worked when trying diablo but other games like Skyrim won’t even hook up, well its a mess with the new 0.5 oculus drivers, had to play around that for a while to properly get hmd detected. Anyway nice feature list on this upgrade, lots of stuff to try out when I get this working.
Got it working again, uninstalled (no need to delete registry) then installed again and made sure the vorpx stuff launches with administrator rights. Everything seems to be working again and new features are very nice!

ParticipantOk, everything works great but for one thing – i got huge judder in Virtual Cinema mode. I mean the cinema mode itself, all the games on the screen work flawlessly even Far Cry 4 and AC Unity. But when i turn my head there’s a lot of blur and high tracking latency.
Check your fps when in cinema mode <75 fps is judder fest.

ParticipantAnd when running a race i have to desactive vorpx to get VR.
Strange thing but that’s working. Its not really strange since pCars has rift support, but not in the menus. I have learned to navigate the menus in “2D” mode. At later date when they have time Im sure they convert menus to be rift compatible too.

ParticipantI also have horrible performance in Games, like Bioshock Infinite, without Vorpx I get 100-150 Fps, with Vorpx only 19 – 21, regardless which setting I use, could the wrong display orientation be the reason for that?
I don’t think display orientation has any effect on performance, and I too have terrible fps drop in geometry mode, Z-normal etc works alot better for me but the depth isn’t that good in those.
Laser
ParticipantCheck that you are running correct resolution for rift.

ParticipantI don’t think that im running any profile that should affect performance, catalyst drivers run pretty much stock values and I’ve tried shutting down any unnesessacy applications, also if there was such a profile it should also affect performance when running without vorpx. But “normal” or vireio runs much better than vorpx. Mirror’s edge is barely playble when setting everything on low, but still drops under 75 when in open spaces. That is on 290x and 2600k @ 4,3ghz.

ParticipantNot really found a solution but atleast I found that on my system AA is a big no no when running vorpx. Haven’t done any proper benchmarking yet but even using 2xAA kills the framerate even in simpler games. Also I have tried cleaning the drivers, disabling just about everything in background without finding the poor performance with vorpX. I even tried same games with Vireio driver and that worked fine without major performance issues…
Have you done any framerate tests with an amd card, I assume your main system runs with nvidia card?
Laser
ParticipantDidn’t have that problem when I tested 14.9 this Morning. I did to a complete driver sweep before installing.
Laser
ParticipantThanks, as I am using 290x so no nvidia stuff installed. Im guessing too that something is conflicting with vorpx. Time to do some troubleshooting, good thing is that is only my system and not the driver.
Laser
ParticipantMirrors edge had less drop but still too much.
Monitor+vorpx disabled = +200fps
VorpX+ no geometry reconstruction = +100fps
VorpX+ geometry 3D = +35fpsSo Im allready losing nearly 50% by running vorpx and I get around 20% of original fps with geometry mode.

ParticipantLong shot but do you have other game controllers attached that might conflict, like steering wheels gamepads etc?
Laser
ParticipantYes I got it working, like other games, didn’t really do anything special, just activated the profile in vorpX. But the performance isn’t good, I dropped everything to minimum and still can’t get 75fps so until they release better drivers for oculus I don’t think this gets a lot of game time from me.
Laser
ParticipantI think you just need to mod the UI to fix those issues, Im sure there will be mod packages and guides for that soon. Of course you ccan temporarily switch to wider view with middle mouse button.

ParticipantOk, seems to be a Windows 8.1 issue. Windows 8 apparently changed the orientation handling, or maybe the Oculus driver reports something else in Windows 8, who knows.
Sorry for the confusion, we skipped the usual pre-release testing cycle to get this release out as soon as possible. I knew that wasn’t a very good idea…
Yep running 8.1 here. And I don’t mind little mistakes like that. I have been waiting for the dk2 support (bought vorpx today) and while I too have problems getting some games to run, I rather use beta drivers than no drivers at all. Lots of tweaks available too inside the game which I like. One feature that I was looking for is a built in fps counter, would that be possible to implement?
For some games I too get the resolution not supported while trying to start a game but I think it tries to use my monitors 2560×1440 resolution instead of OR, I have to try running only with OR connected to see if that helps. Anyway thanks for the drivers Ralf. :)
