ParticipantBut, but new games are so tempting and shiny xp
I’m curious about it, but you’re right, vanilla Mafia II should still work and playing it again in first person and VR would still be amazing.
No hurries for a fix, I’d actually be more interested in full geometry Vulkan/dx12 support over any profile, I really think that supporting those would easily allow for selling it as a separate module and asking for 30-40$, I’d pay that and more.

ParticipantHi,
Mafia II Definitive Edition landed in my Steam library for free since I already own the Classic version.
I tried to use the current Mafia II profile – copied and associated with the new exe, but vorpX does not hook up.
Out of curiousity, I did the same with the Mafia III profile, which hooks but has glitches and fps drop down the drain.
Any idea what works?
Thanks,Milan
Sad to hear that Mafia ii doesn’t work, i loved the original and since it has a first person mod, I was thinking on replaying the new game in VR.

ParticipantI’m late but thanks for this, grabbed the game which is on sale on humble bundle, so it’s great to see a profile for the game.

ParticipantI’ll sure join it.

ParticipantFantastic news, thanks a lot for your hard work Ralf.

ParticipantApparently it should work in z3d if you create a profile, no geo 3d though, a real pity:

Close to the Sun does not have official VR support, but as I mentioned in my EGX Rezzed impressions I would love to see the team implement these. However, if you have vorpX, you do get the chance to play the game in VR. But, this does require you to make a profile.
One thing you will need to understand with this being a profile you have made that it is not in full geometry 3D, unless you have to knowledge to make one of these profiles yourself. But, the profile does allow for Z-Adaptive VR gameplay, which does place you into Helios and the setting well, it’s just lacking that full 3D depth, but, it does offer an immersive VR experience still.
With this being a first person game, you have the immersion of looking around the environments with your head movement like you on the ship yourself, and the game does a great job of keeping that visual clarity. It really is great getting the chance to look around and be onboard of the Helios in vorpX.

ParticipantJust finished the game, the last levels are mindblowing and mind bending (literally), and that ending after the credits roll was better than sex.

ParticipantA pity, Close to the Sun looks really cool.

ParticipantOk, so I found how to make it work. In steamvr menu you have to go to the control options and add a new controller layout instead the standard controls, choose cybershoes instead of vive/oculus/index controllers, then create a new layout, select trackpad default (it worked for me), work as trackpad, then on click select lbuttonpad0, on touch select ltouchpad0, and on position select laxispad0. I tested with Metro 2033 Redux and worked great, it was a bit too fast so I’ll have to play with the usb emitter speed controls.
For this to work the vive/oculus/index left controller must be on, so I wonder if there’s any way to hide controllers visually but still be active on vorpx, since I want to use an xbox controller, which works fine with this setup.

ParticipantSo I tried cybershoes with vorpx in two games and they didn’t work from the get go.
I can see the cybershoes working properly in the cybershoes settings, and just played with them on Half Life Alyx which was great, but they don’t give any movement in vorpx games. You mentioned that we have to be config them to emulate trackpad movement and/or right/left stick, can you please explain how to do that? Can we use them together with an xbox controller for the shooting, interacting etc in vorpx?moarveer
ParticipantAmazing job RJK, still I miss the old website with its incredible amount of detail en engines and games, if you’re not going to put it back online, is there any chance that you could share a offline version of it to download. Even if it’s outdated, there’ll be probably 700 games or so with all the detailed info,it would be really great.

Participant9 hours in, still amazed with the game, the hotel is freaking amazing.

ParticipantThanks for the fix!

ParticipantI’ll investigate this at some point, but with BI I think it’d be impossible, there are buttons for weapons, powers, and the usual controls for movement, sprint, etc. That’s just too much imho.
