Quest 2 works like a dream with Vorpx, if you don’t mind all of the Facebook login and software, it’s by far the best headset you can buy in terms of price/performance/quality that works with Vorpx.
moarveerParticipantI tried full both on the menu screen and inside the game, and in both cases it glitched graphically and was unplayable with oculus Quest 2 and virtual desktop using steamvr mode, I’ll give another try tomorrow and see what happens. I’m using close to 4k res in-game so maybe both things don’t get along well.
moarveerParticipantGave this a try today with Bioshock Infnite. In works great on medium, but setting it to full gave an awful visual glitch on BI and seemed to lock the game, so I had to close it. The image clarity improvement is fantastic, things look a LOT sharper even on medium, you can notice how objects far away are way easier to see clearly, and it actually added a lot to the immersion.
I have to admit that I never touched the sharpening option before so this is quite a big improvement for me, maybe others used to using the previous sharpening tool don’t notice it that much.
On the other hand, aliasing is a bit more obvious now in my case, still well worth it though. All in all a fantastic addition to Vorpx, I will be using it in all games from now on, or at least see how they work with it.
moarveerParticipantI have to agree with this, I remember testing Fallout New Vegas, which basically is the same engine, with I think it was a California full conversion mod or something like that (it was a long time ago sorry), and the game looked incredible in Vorpx, I really have to work my vorpx backlog of shame at some point, but it just keeps growing instead.
moarveerParticipantCan’t wait to try this out, sadly I won’t be able to check it out until weekend, also Deathloop fullvr profile is a fantastic addition, thanks Ralf as always for a fantastic update.
moarveerParticipantCombined with the other two components of the method, the higher quality scaling (a more subtle improvement), and if possible for a game the texture detail enhancement, the overall result can be pretty stunning in some cases. Varies from game to game though.
Now tell me not to be hyped lol, sooo any more specific ETA for this, early next week, next weekend?
moarveerParticipantI really can’t wait for this, I stopped playing Bioshock Infinite completely until this is released so I’m counting the days, I know I shouldn’t expect miracles but any image quality improvement will be more than welcome so I’ll test this thoroughly once it’s available. As always thanks Ralf for this kind of improvements, I hardly play anything else in VR other than Vorpx, even though I have a Viveport sub that I haven’t used for months.
moarveerParticipantThanks for the suggestion, I’ll give it a look.
moarveerParticipantThanks for the explanation Ralf, I’ll have my expectations in check.
moarveerParticipantSo now to get an image quality similar to 4k, what resolution should we choose to start with before the upscaling?
moarveerParticipantPla keep us updated.
moarveerParticipantThat pic looks incredible, this is a fantastic achievement indeed, I hope we can test this out soon enough!
Thanks Ralf for the constant improvement of Vorpx, for me performance is one of the main issues with Vorpx, this is game changing in many aspects, same with AFG3D, it’s the kind of features that lowers the entry barrier of Vorpx a lot for those not with 30XX cards, which are most of us.
moarveerParticipantThere’s a new first person mod released: https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/new-mod-allows-you-to-play-the-witcher-3-in-first-person-mode/
moarveerParticipantFingers crossed, thanks Ralf for at least giving it a look.
Quite off topic but talking about performance, I’m almost at the end of Bioshock Infinite with Vorpx using Virtual Desktop and Quest 2, god that game looks incredible in VR, and Asynchronous Spacewarp on VD gives sooo much better performance on Vorpx over Oculus Airlink, I’m running at 4k res in the game and smooth as silk on a 2080ti, and it’s incredibly sharp.
moarveerParticipantHi Ralf, any progress with FSR on Vorpx? Some extra free performance is always welcome, i would actually prefer this to any new profile, since performance can hit so hard to Vorpx games, even more in geo3d.
