I suggest you increase 3d strength to max, it helps a bit. I find that first person games work best with z3d, since you don’t need much depth, but thrid person games don’t work too well.

I tried the game today and the game looks fantastic in VR, managed to get it quite playable at 3200×2400 and FSR at full, it really looks great. The game has a big issue though, since the game menus are only rendered in one eye. I could only tweak the options inside VR using desktop mode in Virtual Desktop, and then going back to VR, so doable but really annoying.

Have in mind that apparenytly HP is going to launch an improved G2 : https://uploadvr.com/steam-new-hp-reverb-g2-listing/

This means that either wait for this version, or wait for the old model to get cheaper. If you want it only for Vorpx, bad controller tracking won’t be much of an issue since you can use a gamepad and you can go for the old model, otherwise you should wait, or grab it used for a really cheap price.

So first, Bioshock Infinite can now be set up to high sharpness without crashing. I really couldn’t notice any big difference since the game was already pretty sharp, but it looked smoother performance wise, i don’t know if that makes any sense, nothing could make it stutter, playing with geo3d, ultra resolution in config settings and ultra quality in game options with 2080ti. Where I did notice the big improvement in sharpness was when in DLC 2 you go back to Columbia, I played the main game before the FSR sharpness update and it’s quite clear how much better it looks in comparison, but also performs a lot better, no matter that the scene was pretty packed, it was really smooth.

Also Borderlands 3 now works great, I reset the profile to factory default and FOV was fine without touching anything, also after DirectVR scan the tracking is top notch, perfectly smooth. I tried geo3d and it was playable, but I simply prefer higher res with z3d, setting resolution to ultra, sharpness to high and the game was perfectly smooth and looked great, really what a difference DirectVR tracking makes, the only issue is that it can take several tries until it succeeds.

So great work, thanks for the update Ralf!

I may give this a try when I get to play Cyberpunk and report, that’s a pretty huge fps improvement that would surely be very welcome.

This is intriguing, does it work together with Vorpx own FSR sharpening?

Really interesting, I’d subscribe to that kind of notifications for sure.

A bit of useless brainstorming, but I’d love a VR SBS image viewer for Vorpx, i see that a ton of your profiles have SBS images, it would be great to have an image viewer that showed those in VR. The biggest issue to show people how good Vorpx looks is that people simply can’t actually see how cool vanilla games look in 3d and VR.

If that kind of app could be uploaded to sidequestvr.com so that anyone could see Vorpx in action at least in screenshots, I bet a lot more people would be interested in Vorpx.

that’s AWESOME! I’m a big fan of Borderlands but I hadn’t tried Borderlands 3 since I wanted to play it VR but it was expensive. Now after reading this I’ve used the 10 euro coupon of EGS with Borderlands 3 and got it for 9,79 euro, really sweet for a game that can easily give you 30-40 hours of gameplay with the base game alone.

I can’t thank you enough Ralf, this kind of product support is incredible, no matter if any of those improvements get into the game, for you to even check it out and see if it can be improved is great.

Even if DirectVR doesn’t end making it into the profile, it was still good enough as it was so I will play it anyway in VR, however I really hope you can make DirectVR and FOV work. The thing is that after testing B3, when I go back to Bioshock Infinite DLC and play with perfectly smooth VR, no shaky cam effect, how easy is to forget how amazing DirectVR is.

For anyone interested the game is free to try this weekend on Steam, I checked it out and it hooked fine. Set it up to max res on Vorpx, FSR works at high and overall the game looks great, performance is not too good in geo3d as expected, but quite playable in z3d, slowly i’m starting to get used to z3d, it’s pretty solid and performance is just on another level, even though nothing beats geo3d for real depth and scale.

The only “bad” thing is that I’m completely spoiled with direcVR tracking, and since afaik Borderlands 3 doesn’t support it, there’s always some short of small shaky cam effect and no amount of mouse sensitivy tweaking seems to fix it. It’s playable but DirectVR tracking is just too good.

I had to use Letterbox 1 since it was too zoomed in for my liking even after setting FOV to max as suggested by the profile, and with letterbox 1 it’s basically perfect.

There’s an interesting tool called Unreal 4 engine unlocker that lets you access the console and set FOV by injecting the dll to the game: https://framedsc.github.io/GeneralGuides/universal_ue4_consoleunlocker.htm I gave it a try but didn’t work too well with Vorpx when activated, maybe someone will have better luck.

Overall pretty good, but since Borderlands 2 got a VR version, i thill i’ll hold since maybe PSVR2 for PS5 could get a B3 VR version, we’ll see.

For Bioshock 2 I suggest you try vanilla Bioshock 2, it works pretty well and way more stable, fantastic game with Vorpx.

Bioshock Infinite is mindblowing with Vorpx, but you better be immune to VR sickness, since the air rails gameplay will put it to the test.

Another great game for me is Kingdom Come Deliverance, it works with geo3d but it looks great even with z3d.

Dishonored is one of those games that I wanted to play with Vorpx, but it looks terrible with geo3d and performs really bad last time I checked, at some point I’ll try again now with FSR.

The game is so sharp now that I don’t mind to keep playing it on medium, but glad that a fix for high is coming.

Once I’m done with the DLC it’s finally time for Cyberpunk, the comments here about how good it looks with FSR is really encouraging and the game seems to be finally reasonably bug free, so i can’t wait to play it with Vorpx.

I just finished Bioshock Infinite with FSR on at medium, no issues and looked great all the way. Now let’s see how the DLC works, but I can imagine there won’t be any issues.
