ParticipantNo im not talking about Vive, Steam vr added sdk 0.8 support a while ago.
So people are either using sdk switcher to run 0.5 sdk or the steam vr trick. That works for the Horizons beta (and the Ships beta) but not for the main E:D, as far as I know. If you can confirm that it actually does, I will likely buy the game, it’s 50% off right now.
I figured out how to get it working, and I can confirm for others reading this that SteamVR does support the rift.
You got the main E:D working? Or are you playing Horizons?

ParticipantThanks Ralf I got it working just trying to get GTA open right it works fine and goes the the loading screen just never stops loading single player or multiplayer… Still trying different settings
Run the GTA launcher as administrator, see if that works. I run into this problem with GTA V on Win10 even when not using VorpX.

ParticipantIt seems to be locked into a virtual cinema type experience for me, even though virtual cinema mode is off. Not sure how to switch it to full VR.

ParticipantInstalled using the installer! Now to stay up waaay too late. Thanks again Ralf!!

ParticipantNow VorpX won’t start. Error code 2.
Going to try installing 0.6 with this video driver (353.62).
Edit: I just realised – 0.6 isn’t gonna work on Windows 10, is it? And now my current install is borked, it won’t open.
Looks like I need the installer. I’ll wait for a reply from support.

ParticipantThanks Ralf! Very excited.
Tried rolling back to 0.5 to install VorpX. It downloads, then starts the install and quickly flashes “rolling back changes” and quits. I’ll reboot and tinker some more and report back with any progress.
Edit 1: Reboot didn’t help. I had rolled back to NVidia driver 355.83 but maybe that is still not old enough. Downloading 353.62, going to try that one.

ParticipantAfter testing a handful of games with the runtime 0.8 installed, everythings seems to be OK so far.
If you need another tester, I am off work today and I have a metric arseload of games. ;)

ParticipantBut how do i update from this version to 0.9 then? when vorpx 0.8 does not see the rift with runtime 0.7? (that was the original question)
VorpX 0.9 is not out until Friday, so you can’t update until then. On Friday, I imagine VorpX 0.8 will automatically update to 0.9.

Participanthow to update 0.9 from 0.8?
Doesn’t opening the VorpX application automatically download and install the update?
I DO NOT hope so, because Vorpx doesnt see the riftdk2 with 0.7 runtime. And as a result of that vorpx won’t start!
VorpX 0.9 will see the DK2 with 0.7, it actually requires it. See Ralf’s post upthread.

ParticipantNo kidding, this is a very comprehensive site, and very cleanly laid out. Bookmarked! Thanks Toni.

ParticipantSO excited.
I have not been using VorpX for a while now, as I am using 0.7/Win10. Direct mode is a big step forward, and I don’t mind sacrificing so many games for a while to play the few that do work with it. I have put HOURS into Project Cars.
I can’t wait to play GTA V again with VorpX, and I have my fingers crossed for Fallout 4 being supported.

ParticipantI am checking this site every day, really looking forward to the new release. It sounds like it will also fix GTA V’s controller issues, I hate driving with keyboard especially when I can’t see it! At least I have Project Cars to play with in the meantime, it has native Rift support and works really well with runtime 0.7
