Personal preference, thats whats good about vorpx – you might need a ready profile to have 3d depth effect in your game pre-made for you if you cant figure out how to do it, but after that you can adjust it the way you like.

My personal preference for most games including kingdome come are immersive screen and ambient background with no head tracking and switching to z3d in most modern games for performance reasons. That worked for me in kingdom come too.

Check vorpx unofficial discord for workaround of your issue

Some time ago I tried to save custom environments through vorpx menu and windows refused to let vorpx save to my documents (still couldnt make it allow it), maybe somewhere during latest vorpx updates shader edit save location changed too and windows blocks it as well? I mean I havent updated windows since my last successful shader edit (and I made sure it cant update by itself).

    Nothing helps, this is ridiculous.

    – uninstalled nod antivirus
    – tried to run game with and without hook helpers
    – tried to edit with and without vorpx configure window open in the background

I am out of ideas to what could possibly have broken shader saving for me, all profile edits save no problem and I am absolutely sure I could save shader settings before (and my online profiles confirm it).

As Ive said its across all profiles for me, but if you wan here is one of games I have been testing it on: ULTRAKILL

The only change since last time I have edited a shader settings in vorpx is vorpx updates themselves. Thats the only thing left that I can think of, but unfortunately I cant install old vorpx versions manually in any way.

Reinstall didnt help and I chose to remove registry entries but somehow after reinstalling it remembered my cloud profile login before I entered license key.

And I checked profiles for games I made before that had shader edits and while it has my old edits, anything new it refuses to save.

I dont think its a profile issue since it was same for several of them, I think vorpx setup is corrupt in some way.

I will reinstall at some point and see if it fixes it and since it worked before clean install should fix it.

Oh and one more thing – pressing “RELOAD” in shader authoring UI deletes all saved edits too, so its not being saved anywhere I assume.

here is a log file I launched a game, did shader edit, closed the game, saved log.

When I launched the game again shader authoring edits were gone.

Nope, nothing helps, av disabling, no combination of settings (admin launch etc), using cursor to click “ok&save” or pixel instead of vortex…nothing makes it remember shader settings on next launch.

I would check profile files where it stores shader edits, but I dont know where they are or what changed this behavior.

I haven installed any updates or new apps that would have interfered with this, used to work reliably and now – not. Might try to reinstall whole thing but I dont feel like it.

Ye, definitely check correct executable, I tested it specifically and it wont hook to correct file if you set it only on a launcher exe.

Well I was saving from authoring UI, naturally with “OK & SAVE” and I have same issue with another game, I will check something later to see if it could be affecting it. Was just curious if it was some kind of temp new version bug, but since you seem unaware and others mentioned editing shader definitions it seems to be on my end.

So shader edits you did saved for you?

I need to test in other games and see if its everywhere for me and then see if other people have that problem.

I found it comfortable to have like 0.69 fov enchantment through vorpx menu and just ignore culling errors since its not middle of a screen.

I just started getting sick during testing trying different profiles and things to adjust which I blame on low fov.

And again I did try unity 5 profile too on 1st attempt along with too many others, but it all turned out to be a problem of using “alt hooking” setting, which doesnt sound obvious by its nature (I mean vorpx hooks to game, just fails to do the thing). Its just a useful thing I’ve gotten out of this experience and you should consider it for future profiles too.

I ended up playing it on desktop.

There is one major issue for playing it in vr – FOV
I can hax wider fov with vorpx tool, but then game doesnt know it needs to render for wide fov and you end up with objects disappearing at the edges. There are some minor issues with shadows in G3D too and vorpx doesnt save shader authoring edits for some reason, but fov is the worst issue

Best way to play modern games especially ones that might have shadow or other artifacts is Z3D but for one all z3d profiles I could find for it were mediocre depth and a bit buggy and again – since fov hax is only for g3d and game has absolutely no means (maybe cheat engine hax) to increase fov it is very uncomfortable and even sickening.

Only way to deal with small fov is to move screen further away from you like playing a console on a tv (thats one of reasons console games have low fov) but thats not enjoyable in vr.

High FOV and high Res are like 2 major must have things to play games in vr in vorpx in enjoyable manner and if either fails it wont be a good time.

What do you mean any updates? just look at 2 posts above yours – you wont have vorpx proper functionality in any eac game, thats it.

And as I typed all that I found out a profile that worked or a reason so many didnt, I dont want to recheck it all, but alt. hooking method on seems to be a reason this (and maybe other ones) didnt work in G3D. I even checked yours again to be sure it wasnt alt hooking disabling g3d, but couldnt see depth.

Anyways Ive uploaded one that works for me for a steam version I have, but as another issue shader authoring refuses to save so I cant fix ui (crosshair and captions) looking weird and disable some glitchy shadows. I mean I can, but it doesnt save and has to be dont each launch. Gonna make a bug report.
