Ok, I can try it out.
I also found out that in WoW you can bind a key to switching between Windowed and Fullscreen mode! So now when it messes up, I can just press the key, and continue.
So I have 2 workarounds. Thanks!
Enjoy the holidays!swattParticipantOk, interesting. I was assuming my problem was connected to the warning. I’ll do some more fiddling, and if the problem persists and I can’t find a solution, I’ll post specifics. Thanks!
swattParticipantOk, so in the end, it was a two-pronged solution.
1. Reset the profile just like you said, under Local Profiles. Selected World of Warcraft and reset it.
After that, I let VorpX launch Wow. It was better, however, still not great.
2. I figured out the Wow in-game resolution settings
> Switch to Windowed mode
> Switch Resolution Scale down to the lower resolution (1920×1080)
> Maximize the Wow Window so it stretches to fill the whole screenNow the game runs at full fps in VR again.
Thanks!
SandraswattParticipantOk so yes, I’m already running Windowed (and always was), so let’s rule that out for now.
When I change the game resolution down to 1920×1080, the vorpX cursor is way off inside VR, like half a screen away. On-screen Wow cursor is fine.
That’s why I tried changing the screen resolution for that monitor so that it matches the game resolution, but still very low fps.
I will do the profile reset and see. Where do I reset the profile? There is so much information, I’m not sure what exactly to reset. Hopefully not the entire thing and all my settings, excluded programs, etc.
I see a Restore Game Settings option. This tells me that VorpX does something with the settings. And I was assuming it would do what’s necessary to make the game work well in VR. Could you maybe point me to information of what exactly VorpX does to change a game to work in VR?
Thanks much!
SandraswattParticipantOk, got it. The latest Wow update must have reset back to DirectX 12. VorpX needs DirectX 11. After switching back to 11, it’s back to working!
swattParticipantQuick update: I rebooted again, and upgraded to the latest VorpX version, but still the same.
swattParticipantI’ll just say YES, it’s worth buying the product. Just to be able to play in VR games that would normally be 2D is Amazing. I also use VoiceAttach that takes voice commands and sends the more complicated keyboard shortcuts to Wow without me having to do them on the keyboard (since your eyes are covered) :)
swattParticipantThank you for your quick response!! The switching between windowed and fullscreen in game suggestion worked, though not at first. I think what did the trick was launching the game *with* VorpX, and only then switching from windowed to fullscreen, with VorpX there to “see” that change. That restored everything. I am so relieved.
Other than that, it was already on DirectX 11, and yes, it was the grey cursor that was missing, and Alt+C wasn’t bringing it back.
swattParticipantOk, since there was no way to see what is being hooked, I went for the reboot, and it worked! Sorry – I should have just tried that first, but I hope the thread helps someone else in future. It’s a great great product.
Thanks for explaining about safety measure – that makes sense now.
swattParticipantI’m not sure what you mean by safety measure, but ok, how can I find out what programs vorpX is hooked into? (I’d like to keep the Del key if I could because I can easily find it while in VR)
Some more info…
I can’t use Del in Thunderbird, but thunderbird.exe is in the exclusion list already.
Also, if a program is already running, and then I start vorpX it still loses use of the Del key. I thought vorpX needs to be running before you start your game / program in order for it to hook. That’s certainly the case with Wow.
swattParticipantAlso for some reason, I have to set this repeatedly. I start the game again, and although the setting is set to No, it behaves as if it’s Yes. I have to flip to Yes and back to No and Save, then it works again.
swattParticipantNope. Setting the HT Sensitivity to 0 disables head turning completely.
Any other solution?
swattParticipantNever mind, I think I found another post with the answer. Trying now… Sorry.
swattParticipantI see! That did the trick. Thanks very much!
In case it helps others, the expert settings are enabled in the main Vorpx configuration app. The Input page is in the in-game Vorpx menu.
